  10. I'm sure the closure will include the entire lake plus tribs and go to the boundary perimeter right to the dam in Lindsay why would the close the lake yet allow walleye to be taken in the few tribs & river spots they may use for spawning ?? Doesn't make sense but then again never know till they make it crystal clear as I'm sure they will need to make special regs in 65 different languages so that so called fishermen are aware of this ...... The poachers will just say they didn't understand or realize the changes I foresee lots of charges coming up

  13. Article Regarding The 3.7 Magnitude Earthquake In Cornwall Ontario Early This Morning. Info From Cornwall Seaway News CORNWALL, Ontario - A magnitude 3.7 earthquake centred on Cornwall rumbled through the region just after midnight Saturday. A sharp crack, followed by a low rumble, had light fixtures bouncing in homes throughout the region. The rumbling lasted for about 20 seconds and was about three kilometres deep, according to the United States Geological Service. The service also said the quake was only about two kilomtres southeast of the city. Reports have been flooding in from people all over the region, who complained of the loud rumbling, which was preceded by a pop or audible crack. Cornwall police have not yet responded to a request for comment. There have been no reports to Seaway News of damage. A previous report on the potential for a large-scale Cornwall earthquake follows: Canada's insurance industry is warning that we are unprepared for a powerful earthquake in eastern Ontario - and the likelihood of a major temblor is significant. A study released by the Insurance Bureau of Canada suggests that the region from the St. Lawrence River Valley to the Ottawa Valley - an area including Cornwall - is at high risk area, in which there is at least a 15 per cent chance that a strong earthquake will strike in the next 50 years. How strong is anyone's guess, though the study suggests an earthquake on the order of 5.0 or 6.0 on the Richter scale is possible. The report even includes a model of a 7.0 earthquake striking the Quebec City region - a distinct possibility given the geology in that portion of the country. Damage from such an event would be substantial, said the report - especially in older communities like Cornwall that have many buildings that have not been built with enough earthquake protection. What's worse is the study suggests loss of life could be staggering, and the insurance industry would be hard-pressed to cover claims. An earthquake measuring 5.5 struck Cornwall in the summer of 2010 - the epicentre was located near Buckingham, in western Quebec, not far from Ottawa. Cornwall was struck by a strong earthquake on Sept. 5, 1944 when chimneys in the city toppled and startled residents were sent streaming into the streets. It caused $2 million damage at the time. If a major earthquake were to take place today, the city may find itself in a situation where it would declare a state of emergency and implement its emergency plan. "They are a risk," said city CAO Norm Levac. "It's something we've spent some time on." The plan, though, is somewhat dated. It was last revised in July of 2006 and makes reference to media sources and local agencies that no longer exist or have changed names. Levac indicated a new revision to the plan is being conceived right now, though he was unsure when it would be made public. The lead agency in the event of a major earthquake would be the Cornwall Fire Department. There are provisions in the plan for partial and complete evacuations of the city, as well as the establishment of refuge centres at places like the Cornwall Civic Complex. No mention is made of the new Benson Centre, as it was not in existence the last time the plan was updated. During a state of emergency a great deal of power is vested with the mayor, and that person, in conjunction with a so-called "community control group" which includes people like the police chief, fire chief, medical officer of health and social services manager, among others, would make decisions. City council does not have to be consulted, or approve all decisions, during a state of emergency. Cornwall was under a city-wide state of emergency during Ice Storm '98.

  17. Not you Joey but there is many inconsiderate people who think that the local school yard is their dogs personal place to have their daily dump !!! Ya right where hundreds of kids play and win a kid falls in it they have to usually be sent home parents called and many times one of them must come home from work to get their kid !!!!!! It happens fairly often !!!! I know you would not do that at all but many do and they might be having a problem like that at that school but yes she obviously seen you on the sidewalk not on the school yard !!!! But yes she overreacted for sure !!! Glad ralphie is better !!!! Don't let it bother you too much Shawn
  18. Well I have a four stroke 50hp 2011yamaha outboard and I was speaking with a few Yamaha marine mechanics about that issue to fog or not to fog ?? And they both said basically if it's not going to be stored longer than 6months that it will not need it ... Like Wayne said top it up with premium gas run top quality fuel stabilizer through it make sure water is all drained fresh oil up top & check gear case oil fill it with fresh oil and maybe a corrosion spray on everything and put it away !!!! I have done the above for several years and no issues

  21. There have been several reliable sightings like someone mentioned above by farmers in the Kawartha lakes area especially by downeyville which is 10 mins away from me and another friend of mine who lives on his farm about 2 miles away had seen 1 a year ago as well and he knows what they look like as he shoots raccoons and coyotes and can as he had livestock and he swears he seen one and notifies all the farmers in the area but nobody reported it to the MNR as they are farmers and know the MNR is mostly non- believing that they are around as to not panic the public there have also been a few deer carcasses found in some pretty unusual places ..... Places that a coyote or wolf would not have left it there ??? And we have them here as well as black bears too and with the crazy early hours I keep for work as well as fishing & sledding I hope I do catch a glimpse of one that would be so cool .... The old farmer says they were also seen back in the early 80"s in the same area and with the explosion in the turkey population and lots of deer he thinks that's why they are being seen again !!!! And he had had livestock of various times for almost 60yrs
