  1. Wood stove hands down, no question about it. You don't need anything fancy either. Just a small stove and lots of wood. I heat my whole house almost all winter with a single woodstove. The furnace kicks in if its really cold, but 90% of the time its just the stove. S.
  2. Sweet! Love me some surf and turf!! The best! S.
  3. Cool beans, Mr. Bunk. Its about time! S.
  4. Yep, me too. Love catching them this way. Usually at night.
  5. Let me expalain it for you a little better so maybe you will understand. It may help you will fall walleyes. If the fall, the water temps drop. When the surface water gets colder than the water at the bottom of the lake, (water is densest at 4 degrees celsius), the lakes turn over. The surface water sinks to the bottom, and the bottom water comes to the top, hence the term "turnover". Usually when a lake first turns over, fish are kinda scattered, and can really be anywhere. During the day the sun shines, and warms up the shallows, where baitfish congregate. The walleyes, (and most other fish too) find the warm water, and bait, and get their feed bag on. The warmest water is close to shore, shallow bays etc....where walleye may spawn in the spring as well. A shallow muddy bay with the wind blowing into it is always a great spot....you get the idea. Same thing happens in the spring. Ice comes off, water is cold, the shallows warm first, fish move in....etc. I hope that helps a little. I understand you are fishing the same spots you would in spring, but spawning has nothing to do with it. S.
  6. MmmmHmm....they are staging 6 months before the spawn. Make sense..... S.
  7. Yeah, water temp and turnover. Spawning has nothing to do with it.
  8. You know the spawn in the spring right? lol
  9. I've been watching meateater lately.....no bad. S.
  10. Shallow. Worm and a bobber usually works LOL....seriously. The later in the fall the better. They are fun to catch, and easy to get from shore in the late fall. S.
  11. Hilary and Trump are stranded on a deserted island. Who survives? AMERICA! S.
  12. This is the stuff right here. I won't give UA a single dime. Icebreaker is way better anyways. S.
  13. Call around. A lot of places wont even insure them. Canada life, and state farm are supposed to be pretty good for ATV's and Sleds. I have my sled insured with my auto insurance through CAA....costs me about $20 a month for the sled. S.
  14. Go to st Clair, its worth it. S.
  15. Lol...i had 3 of us in a terrain, cargo carrier on the roof and a cargo rack in the trailer hitch with the biggest marine cooler loaded with goods both ways....i know what you mean, but we did bring a bunch of fishing gear!
  16. P.S....ALWAYS pack the fishing gear!!
  17. Yeah, no license required for salt water fishing. On our trip to nfld this summer we caught a pile of mackeral off the wharf while waiting for our ferry. Caught hundreds of them, and cod in nfld....no license required there either. Fresh water is a different game. License required. Cost me about $68 for 6 altantic salmon tags in nfld. Have to fish with a guide or immediate family. I filled 2 tags the one day i went for them. Brought home about 200lbs of cod that didnt cost me a cent, other than gas in the boat. S.
  18. Sounds like a cool experience. That is criminal for a case of water. We, as canadians should be ashamed of that. How can you justify that much money for 12 litres of water in a country with more water than we know what to do with. That kind of stuff really bothers me about us (canadians). We dont take care of our own people. S.
  19. Yes exactly.
  20. Thats not true. I have been out in below zero temps many, many times and my tell tale was frozen, but the engine is still pumping water. Its an indicator that you are pumping water, and that is all. I am not positive about any engines but my own, but both of mine pump the hot water out through the prop. The water coming out the tell tale is just overflow that is an indicator that you are pumping water. Im not trying to argue, just saying what i know about my engines. I have a 91 mariner 40hp. S.
  21. On a merc? Mine never gets warm. S.
  22. Just an indicator. The water that actually cools the engine will come out through the prop or a lower port somewhere depending on the year of engine.
  23. Want to camp at a boat launch, no problem just dont take it over like you own it.
  24. Mine spends more on fishing gear than I do. S.
  25. I catch tons of lakers on lead core, and I use the same reel you use on a med rod. I usually get them with 5 or 6 colours out. Lots of fun them lakers!! Those are good sized fish to MTBF....stockers I see. Cool. S.
