  1. Sturgeon is really bad for that. Current coming in from scugog, and fenelon never stops. I don't like that lake in the winter. It can be sketchy. S.
  2. No, you asked if anyone was going out there. If you want to see ice safety tips post another thread and ask. Just wait until there are lots of people going out, stay on a main trail, and you will be ok. First ice i take an ice spud and chip every step of the way. My spud will cut 3" on one poke, so if it goes through with one shot, thats where i stop. I dont recommend doing that if you dont know what to look for though. Like already said, ice is never really safe, and there is a bit of science to knowing what good or bad ice looks like. Picks and a floater suit are great to have too. Ive never had to use them, but they are good for piece of mind at the very least. S.
  3. I blew snow all day. As much as i could anyways. I shoveled some too, but the JD 332 with 60" cut is way more fun! S.
  4. Maybe we will get lucky and the snow will flood the ice and it will all freeze later this week? S.
  5. Scariest Kawartha lake for me too, and I grew up on it. She can get nasty!! The ice is messed up too. Current from all directions. S.
  6. He has a set of skis that strap onto the wheels if I remember right. The wheels lift up to get him down on the ice for fishing only. S.
  7. No, but if you dont know the lake, and have no experience on ice, do not go on the river....at all....ever. I believe you fish out of the south end, so do not go out on the ice down there if you don't know what your doing, and your not familiar with the ice. Try off long beach. S.
  8. I'm always amazed at the people who complain about paying $30 a YEAR to fish. Seriously? You probably spend more than that on gas to get to your fishing spot. Its probably the cheapest license there is. S.
  9. I'm hoping to be on ice next weekend somewhere. Shouldn't be a problem. S.
  10. I wouldnt doubt it a wolf, Lew. They are around that area for sure. A trail cam would certainly show you some cool stuff back there. Maybe santa will get you one.
  11. That is slick as snot. Make sure to post the build. Where do you find and axle like that, and whats one worth? First song is brad paisley im gonna miss her, second is nitty gritty dirt band fishin in the dark. S.
  12. Pm me closer to the date. Scugog is loaded with crappies and not far from Lindsay. You have lots of options if there is ice, but scugog will be your best bet for ice, and fish. S.
  13. Ok, so telling the OP that you aren't a fan of keeping fish on his photo of a limit he kept is friendly then? Sorry, I guess I misunderstood that comment.....I'm sure he will be excited to post his next report now... S.
  14. That's it! I'm moving!!!
  15. I'm not fan of people who aren't a fan of people who fill their limit. Its none of your business what I, or anyone else do. S.
  16. I've had some great times at Brooks Cottages. I haven' been for a few years now, but they are great people. Cottages come with a hut, snomobile traile is close by too. Great laker fishing, some walleyes
  17. What kind of set up? I use straight (light) mono for pannies, and 15lb braid with a leader for everything else, generally. S.
  18. The governments need to pull their heads out of the sand!! S.
  19. Its simply because hunters are a minority and we get out voted by all the other user groups. Majority rules, even when it comea to our heritage. It sucks and im sick of it happening over and over.
  20. No, I don't guide but I fish there regularly through the ice. Once things freeze up I will be out there checking things out. Keep in touch. S.
  21. Yes, I was going to say the same. I have a sled and portable hut, but I dont take the sled out there....more so because you don't need to walk far. Its generally walk out only to the good spots, and checking the ice the whole way with a spud. S.
  22. You should wait until the ice is here before making any plans. Quinte is a different animal when it comes to ice. There are a lot of very sketchy places, and some that don't freeze at all. Once the time comes, pm me and I can help you out, but for now, just wait until it freezes. There are a few "generally" safe areas, but whether there are fish there or not is another story. Keep in touch once we have some ice and I can certainly offer some advice. S.
  23. I'd be all over that like white on rice! S.
  24. Its loaded with crappies. Easy to catch a feed through the ice. S.
  25. It took me forever to find a set of used 18" rims/tires on kijiji, and when they do come up they are gone almost instantly. I finally did find a set though, and got a smokin deal, so keep looking. S.
