  1. Nice job. Thats quite the knife he uses too. S.
  2. All my rods are cheap, but I use good reels. The reel is the key anyways. I rarely break a rod, and when I do its an expensive one....of course. I have two shimano clarus rods at shimano right now being replaced under warranty...lol. I can't even remember what kind of rod I use most of the time, but its an off brand....maybe abu...I dunno, but it works great and I like it. My GF uses a Rapala magnum musky rod, and so far so good. Also have another rapala that my son loves....works fine, but they all have good reels. Its not the rod that catches the fish, its the guy/girl operating it! S. S.
  3. I get all my stuff from my local mom and pop shops. I like when they know my name when I walk in the door. If they don't have what I need, they get it for me. I always try to support the little guys, screw the big box's. S.
  4. Cant beat the honda inverters. Great, compact, reliable units. S.
  5. I get it too, but its for hunting. S.
  6. Best thing since sliced bread. Get the 3 blade model. The 2 blade doesnt quite cut it. S.
  7. This is what i was going to say. ^^ Seriously though, are you sure they are walleye? Are there any other fish in the lake? Maybe whities or herring? S.
  8. Are you sure they were walleye?
  9. I have been getting the same battery with a different label for cheaper at my local battery shop. S.
  10. Your such a tease!! S.
  11. Reesor ponds are anything but private. Sheesh, we used to have bush parties in there when i was a teenager.....kids probably still do. Whiners whining is all it is. S.
  12. ^ all that and still no depth finder? Mo thanks. Id rather have a simple depth finder than navionics on a tablet. What do you do if it rains? Im a lowrance guy thru and thru. Never had one let me down. I still have the first one i ever bought and it works as good now as it did then. Its all personal preference and price. They all work. You dont need anything fancy. Elite 5 or 7, or hds 5 or 7 are great bang for your buck. Cant go wrong. S.
  13. What are they fishing for in there? Everyone is so entitled these days. So a group of fosherman are out enjoying a day, but scared off the birds, so the bird watchers are upset...so they whine about it on the internet to stop fishing. Seriously? I think i will post on the internet about the birders scaring my fish and ban them. Anyways....i had a great day. S.
  14. Best way is to look at a map, get in car, drive to spots and try them. I have found hundreds of lakes this way, and no, I'm not telling you where they are. Sorry. I will tell you that some of the biggest bass I have ever caught came from small lakes right on the side of the road that have no cottages or boat launches. If a little swamp looks like it might have fish, try it, you might be surprised. S.
  15. I'm no mechanic, but sounds like seized calipers to me. I would take DanD and Johns advice though, I think they are both mechanics. I assume this is a rear wheel drive Jimmy with 4x4? S.
  16. Theres a small gas motor in the classifieds for less than a battery would cost you..... S.
  17. Its fried. Get a new one. 4 years is a good run for what your doing. Next time get a bigger battery. S.
  18. This is my thought. Or they don't know what sharp is. S.
  19. You know you can do the exact same thing even faster with a good sharp knife, right?
  20. Keep in mind i grew up in a family of commercial fishermen, so i have cleaned more fish than the average joe recreational fisherman. S.
  21. I cut around them. Just turn your knife 90 degrees and follow the bones to the skin, then turn it back 90 towards the ribs, then follow the ribs. Ive never seen anyone fillet fish like me. I have an uncle who is a canadian champion fish filleter who thinks im crazy, but i can almost keep up to him. He is crazy fast!!
  22. ^ he knows.
  23. I really dont like the electric knife. I am way quicker, and better with my standard fillet knife. I have even raced buddies and they had no chance with the electric. I remove all the bones in one shot, most guys take them out after the fillet is off the fish. When my fillet is off, its boneless. I also hate the racket the electric knife makes....LOL S.
  24. Who are you and what did you do with Lew? I couldn't even fathom just quitting fishing. Its been in my blood for so many generations, it is a huge part of me. Its a lifestyle I guess. I hope all is well with you Lew, and this decision is something you really wanted to do. S.
