Rated #2 southern rock band next to skynard. Pretty cool. I've been playing their stuff on the guitar for a while now, and nobody ever knows about them. They have a bunch of good stuff, and have played with a lot of great musicians as well. I"m surprised they haven't really hit it in canada yet. I never hear them on the radio. S. -
Yer a pretty crafty feller der Brian. Looks good. I wish you lived closer, I could get you to make me all sorts of stuff. I could make ya rich hahaha

I'm loving these guys. If you like southern rock, check them out. All kinds of good stuff. -
Yeah, spend your money on the reel for sure. Nothing worse than a cheap real in the winter. Useless. S.

new fishfinder help.....need some insight
Sinker replied to bow slayer's topic in General Discussion
Yes, in some cases it may not mark your jig down that far. Especially if there is a current, or your jig goes off to one side or the other of your hole as it drops down, or even your transducer not sitting straight down, but it should be marking fish no matter what. I have heard some people have trouble with the settings on these units, but I have only ran lowrance, so I am pretty familiar with the settings to make it work best. I find once you figure out how to set it up, you can't go wrong, and the bird units don't have near the setting to dial things in as accurate as a lowrance IMO. S. -
I use my 36"ers in the hut all the time. Whats the problem with them in a hut? Length? I don't have an issue, even in my one man clam. I just find the longer rods provide more action to play fish on. The short rods, you may as well hand bomb them up. S.

Something wrong there. Either you didn't have your settings right, or your transducer is pooched. The Elite 4 will mark fish all day long in any depth. S. -
Everyone will have their own opinion on this. I like a med to med/heavy rod, 36"+ S.

I guess that depends what you consider tough. I have been using a hand auger for 30 years. I'm usually set up and fishing before my buddies with gas augers. I have a jiffy as well, but I only use it when the ice is over 15 or so inches, or if I'm with a big group and have the only auger. Drilling 20 holes with a good hand auger is no big deal, really. And I don't use a drill adapter like some guys do...lol. Its not uncommon for me to go perching and drill well over 30 holes with my fin bor 3 to find them. No big deal. S.

Or X-country skiiers....they are BRUTAL!!! S. -
Very sad. It kills me not knowing what went wrong. I spend a lot of time on that lake, and it can get nasty. I have helped a lot of people out there in bad weather. The day they were out was a really bad day to be out there. With the throttle still wide open when they found the boat, I have to assume they had water come over the bow, and swamped the boat. Once they were in the water, it was game over. Either that, or they took a wave over the transom and pinned it to try and keep the boat up. Its tragic any way you look at it. Its my worst nightmare, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. S.

My sister in law fighting for our outdoor rights

I work in a multi use forest where we have all types of recreation, including hunting. We have never had an issue with hunters, but had many, many, many issues with all the other user groups. Hunters are the easy group to deal with, they follow the rules, and are always respectful to other users. The other users, however, are a lot more "entitled" when it comes to using the forest. The deer season is only 2 weeks of the year. If someone wants to hike or bike or whateve during that 2 weeks, throw on a cheap orange vest and have atter. Hunters always get the short straw, and I'm sick of it. S. -
I heard on the radio this morning that the search has been suspended for the missing man. The west end of the lake is ice covered now, so who knows when he will turn up. S.

Yes i heard about it the day they found the first guy and the boat. It was a VERY nasty day to be on rice lake in a small boat. It was blowing NW at 40 gusting to 60. There would have been some serious waves out there, and r8ce has steep waves that are stacked close together. It really wouldnt take much to swamp their small boat. We will never know what really happened. Bad things happen quick and always when you least expect it. The one guy they found was wearing a life jacket. I fear the second guy will be a recovery now. That section of the lake skimmed over last night. Sorry for your friends loss. I heard he was an experienced boater who wasnt one to take chances, so i have to wonder what happened that night. I have been out on rice in the area they went missing twice since it happened, but no sign of anything out of place. S.

I just added a 6" loop of rope to the small loops on the pop up. I can set it with mitts on that way too.

Have a pic of the drill adaptor brian? Ive been looking for one. I have a 5 man eskimo. Its huge. I havent used it on the ice yet, but i bought it with intentions of bringing a bunch of kids perching. I also have one of the costco pop ups. I have put 2 good seasons in that one and broke a zipper on the door. It was my own fault, and it still works, just have to leave a 6" section open all the time. I have a clam scout flip over, and a clam guide flip over and both have been flawless. The scout had been in service for at least 10 years now. Its my go to. The guide is for behind the sled with a passenger. I also have a 4x8 hardside, and an 8x10 hardside with a woodstove. I cant wait for hardwater! My favourite season!! Go as big as you can and you cant go wrong with the thermal units. That will be my next purchase, but since i have 5 ice huts i may need to sell a couple off first. S.

So, they would rather keep it open and make the tourist money than protect the resource. Why am I not surprised. The MNRF is a joke. S.
