So I have been doing a pool fill in and yard make over at home and we took out a garden on the 10th and I found a big ball of fur in the dirt close to the garage. I scopped it up and well there was a babby in it. So I kept looking and found 3 more (4 total). Got the Mrs to find a box to put them in and line it and place them back in the same spot. Well, momma came back over and over each morning around 7:30 am to check on them. The nest got modified slowly as temps changed and that ment we moved them from time to time but momma didn't care and then came back and made sure they were okay. Yesterday we noticed we only had 3 bunnies left in the box when we went to make sure they were covered. We had to cover them as we have two boxers and wanted them to be safe where momma left them. This evening babby 4 came back to tell or show it's sibblings it was good and where to find it. So the Mrs and I are heading back in to leave them be and sure enough the other 3 were starting to make the way out of the nest we built. So we turned around to say our goodbye to them and take them to the wood pile the sibbling went to and was waiting for them. I'm sure we will see them again soon but the Mrs is really sad as they let us hold them and check in on them daily till 7:30pm tonight.6 points

Arviat Nunavut is in the news today and they're having a little celebration. Why are they celebrating??? Because Nunavut did lockdown last spring. They closed their three borders tight and implemented two week quarantine periods in isolation hubs for any of their residents and non-essential employees looking to return the territory after being south. Ottawa, Winnipeg and Yellowknife were the designated sites and throughout most of the year the quarantines worked. Essential employees were also expected to answer to Public Health with regards to their own social distancing practices for the two weeks prior to travel into Nunavut. On a small scale, something much easier to evaluate than international travel in and out of Canada, Nunavut represented very well what travel restriction, quarantine, isolation and being responsible can do to thwart the spread of Covid. But then... a case did finally break through. Nunavut being one of the last places on earth to see a first case, they were quick to act. Sanikiluaq picked up the first couple cases of Covid, they identified the cases, did the contact tracing and locked the town down, especially isolating the positives. Poof!!!! Like that, no Covid. Then another person brought a case from Winnipeg into the airport at Rankin Inlet. Passengers moving onward landed in Whale Cove and Arviat. First positives identified, contact tracing complete and Poof!!! Whale Cove and the bigger hub of Rankin locked it down, did the tracings, isolated the positives and reset their case numbers to zero. Arviat on the other hand, being totally underserviced, one of the sickest populations in Canada and also the youngest, well... it took six weeks of hard work. A public health emergency team was deployed there, the Chief Medical Officer traveled there as well and, within about 6 weeks with case numbers in the town of 3000 or so people reached over 300, a lockdown, some big efforts and isolation of the positive cases reset Arviat right back to zero. Nowhere else in Canada has a case count affected about 10% of any single localized population within such a short time... Looking at Arviat and each other Nunavut community as a small scale version of what is to be the expected outcome of Covid case control, and, also looking at Nunavut's excellent border control as a whole, it's my view that lockdowns, Public Health efforts, healthcare efforts and personal protective practices can totally work. The problem for the rest of Canada is, not everyone can easily get on board with it for many different reasons. The one thing that I have found for certain is, that those people who could be on board but instead choose to whine, piss, whine, moan, complain and scream that it doesn't work, they are the biggest plague to bettering the health of Canadians and helping all just get through this.2 points

High school friend's parent had a place at the end of Dillion Road back early 60's, went to Franklin Island a few times, as I still recall spare props, shear pins and a kicker would be a very good idea in those waters edit: also remember I first saw a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers there on the island.1 point

Thanks, but wrong fox island. My bad maybe, I think they refer to “the foxes” as the group of islands due east of the town of Killarney. BUT, I’m glad you pointed out the Fox island in the French river delta. Looks great too! Thanks for the tips, i definitely want to check it out. And the Bustard islands too. Looks like Key Harbour is the best for this access also1 point

Ok.. that boat will definitely get you there, even in some choppy weather. Have you considered where to launch? Key River is pretty much best/easiest way to get there. A straight run out and a right turn into Fox Island. I've been out there in some small boats, but it was weather dependent. LOL. I've also been out there in larger boats that were better in rough weather. Never actually camped out there. I would always camp closer to Key Harbour. The small craft route is marked with bouys/markers right to south end of island and continues further west. No problem getting out there.. just when you venture out of marked channel.1 point

My MIL is 85 and she feels like she’s in jail in her own home. She said she doesn’t want her final years to be like this and that the immunizations should be given to young people, especially transit commuters because those are the people she feels are most likely to spread it.1 point

Canada’s leaders are so clueless. Lockdowns do not work. This is the fourth one and every time Covid just comes back. Live with it. Look at TX and FL, wide open, no masks and doing as fine or better than Canada and any other State. Canada has become a lockdown and isolationist Country within it is borders and outside of them. How crazy is it they outlaw golf, maybe fishing and other outdoor activities? They have lost it. Canada’s leaders should be fired. No planning to manufacture the vaccines and they use lockdowns as excuses. Meanwhile, many business will fail and people are losing valuable time in their lives by not being allowed to do anything. But, hey people that like lockdowns, must love a Socialistic/Communist country as that what is happening. Learn to live with Covid, it is not going away. I and my son have had Covid and it was like a bad flu. Just fine now. In the US over 70 percent of the population over 65 now has had the vaccine. 1/2 the Country has one shot. What the heck have Canada leaders done. Absolutely nothing!1 point

If only it were so simple. How do totally isolate the vulnerable and those in the retirement homes? You have diabetes and you are not going to see your kids for 13 months?? Both groups you speak of have contact with "those living their lives". Even within our family I told my girls if they want to come live at home they have to do a 10 day quarantine...my one daughter spent the last few days isolated in my house and then I learned that she didn't start her quarantine when she said she did. Those workers in the retirement homes are the same, you know that there were instances where they didn't self report symptoms.1 point

Satellite receivers have been like that for a long time. Echostar (bell) uses cheaper components that barely meet specs. I've repaired 3 of them over the years and every failure has been capacitors. 1 of them I had to use a good receiver and compare readings with a meter and 2 of them a visual inspection was all that was needed to spot the swollen cans caused by excessive heat. Those receivers are always on if plugged in and run quite hot all the time, both of ours are always removed from power every night. I have mine sitting on spacers to allow more air flow underneath. The last one I fixed had two bad caps. So the system runs on 5V and the caps are only rated for 6.3 volts. Add in a very hot environment and the cans swell and next thing you know you can't get a satellite signal. For a few cents more the could have used a higher rated cap to reduce failure rates but of course then they wouldn't sell as many replacements.1 point

I don't even see a benifit to getting the vaccine right now. So, I get poked, but can still get covid, still spread covid, and still have no rights to do anything?? Yeah, sounds great to me. NOT. Then there is the risks involved with getting jabbed with something we don't even know anything about?? Yeah, NOT. I am going to trust my immune system, and my common sense on this one. S.1 point

This lockdown may have good reasoning; but it sucks big time. I had to say goodbye to my fishing partner, best friend, my elder brother this week. After fighting years of cancer, it finally took him last Monday night! I had a half hour with him at the funeral home; as many people were waiting outside to show their respects to this man. This morning I wasn't allowed to attend the funeral and church service for him; because of this frigging lockdown. I had to sit here at home and watch the service on youtube; total Bull!!! What a shame a man that had nothing but love for all of his family; which a large part of this family wasn't allowed to attend. I'll follow the covid rules; but for damn sake lets get a handle on it. I'll miss you Morris; sorry I wasn't able to be with you!0 points
