Tom S Posted November 11, 2017 Report Posted November 11, 2017 Watching the Warplane Heritage Museum's program right now. Thank-you to any of you who have served or are serving.
Old Ironmaker Posted November 11, 2017 Report Posted November 11, 2017 Just catching the end of that program. We have lost a few family members during WW2, military and civilian that I never knew about until a few years back, my father never talks about that time. We must never forget the sacrifices made by a few brave for so many.
lew Posted November 11, 2017 Report Posted November 11, 2017 I was at the Lakefield service as always this morning and with it being a Saturday and the beautiful weather today there was an excellent turnout which is always nice to see. Also nice to see so many kids there too.
aplumma Posted November 11, 2017 Report Posted November 11, 2017 I want to thank all of my fellow Veterans for there service. Many of the freedoms that we all enjoy were paid for in blood....we must not forget to thank and honor those that died or are living a life with the physical and mental scars for the rest of their lives. misfish Posted November 11, 2017 Report Posted November 11, 2017 (edited) I was shocked today. Was at Cabelas this morning. Announcement came over the PA, Please observe a couple of minutes of silence. I could hear people still chatting away loudly. Was very disappointing. It was very nice though that the store did this today. Edited November 11, 2017 by Misfish
Old Ironmaker Posted November 11, 2017 Report Posted November 11, 2017 I am remiss in not thanking all those that have served and those that serve today.
leaf4 Posted November 11, 2017 Report Posted November 11, 2017 I was in the Niagara outlets today, the last post came over the PA at 11, and everyone in my sight line stood and listened in silence. It was nice to see
manitoubass2 Posted November 11, 2017 Report Posted November 11, 2017 11:11 today the whole town of emo basically shut down for 10-15 mins Lotsa vets around here. I can never say enough thanks to everyone serving or served! Much respect!
Woodsman Posted November 12, 2017 Report Posted November 12, 2017 I spent today at the service in Ottawa. After the service I enjoyed a few beers with some people I served with in years past & some still serving. Currently in my hotel room watching the Leafs & waiting for another old buddy from the service to drop by. Pro Patria
pics Posted November 12, 2017 Report Posted November 12, 2017 I was heading to st joe's in downtown Hamilton when the Lancaster, a Herc and the B25 flew over. Everyone on the street stopped what they were doing and watched. The hospital stopped for a moment of silence followed by the reading of Flanders Fields. The warplane museum is a special place and I remember attending when there was 5-600 in attendance.. It's up to 3000 people now..
Old Ironmaker Posted November 12, 2017 Report Posted November 12, 2017 There are many OFC members here that served. I know many that were in the military don't like to toot their own horns so to speak, you should. It would be nice for you guys to give us the what, when and where you served on this thread, please.
ecmilley Posted November 12, 2017 Report Posted November 12, 2017 Was planning to head to Ottawa for the service ended up working did our minute and the dealer played taps through the sound system
