DRIFTER_016 Posted June 6, 2016 Author Report Posted June 6, 2016 Finally made it back to the lake. Had to do a little work on the truck and boat yesterday. Put a little more bling on the Merc. Got the new dock section framing done and the dock installed. Will install the decking next weekend. The good news is the lake is up about 2 feet from last fall. Last years shoreline dock mounts are now under a foot of water. Tons of water under the dock now with it 16 feet further out. There's close to 7 feet at the end of the dock and it is chest deep at the back end.
akaShag Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Did you go for a dip in the lake when you were there?
mr blizzard Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Lower end looks bullet proof Hope to be out there next weekend, trailer tire repaired etc, looks like it will be a heck of a lot easier at the ramp than last year, dock looks good
DRIFTER_016 Posted June 6, 2016 Author Report Posted June 6, 2016 Did you go for a dip in the lake when you were there? YUP!! I was wearing my waders @ the time though. The water is already pretty warm though @ 52*F.

DRIFTER_016 Posted June 7, 2016 Author Report Posted June 7, 2016 The skeg cover is new this year. I got the high 5 last year.
DRIFTER_016 Posted June 11, 2016 Author Report Posted June 11, 2016 Got the decking on the new section of dock done.
DRIFTER_016 Posted June 24, 2016 Author Report Posted June 24, 2016 The vacation and the work has started. Due to unfinished stuff @ home I was a day and a half late setting off to the cabin. All was not lost though as Mr B told me the launch and parking area was a gong show on Tuesday due to the Aboriginal Day holiday. The lot was full and they were even having to park on the road!! Wednesday though all was peaceful at the ramp with only 4 vehicles in the lot when I got there at lunch. Got a couple of my windows installed. The view out of my bedroom doesn't suck. Been working on skitter proofing the eves and even threw up some rafter vents.

DRIFTER_016 Posted June 29, 2016 Author Report Posted June 29, 2016 Been hard at it the last little while. Early in the day before it gets too hot have been working on the outside getting sheathing properly installed and covered with Tyvek. Then once it gets too hot I duck inside and work on framing. Got the loft floor joists all in except the two nearest the entry door as I need to re-frame for my new bigger door. Back wall of the kitchen, front wall and door frame for the master bedroom and doorway to the storage area under the stairs are all built. got a few more walls to go but should be done by tomorrow most likely.
leaf4 Posted June 29, 2016 Report Posted June 29, 2016 Sweet progress, that's a lot of work for one guy jeebus
Ralph Field Posted June 30, 2016 Report Posted June 30, 2016 Sweet progress, that's a lot of work for one guy jeebus x2
DRIFTER_016 Posted July 1, 2016 Author Report Posted July 1, 2016 Got the last bedroom wall studed out as well as the front wall of the washroom and utility room. Right door opening (closet under stairs) Middle (master bedrrom) Left (washroom). Utilityroom, washroom front wall looking towards the entry door. Doorway right (washroom), right utility room. Two more dividing walls need to go in the washroom to separate it from the utility room. Started disassembling last years screen house as well. Had to do a lot of resting as it was pretty darned warm here.
adam lancia Posted July 1, 2016 Report Posted July 1, 2016 Awesome work! You're practically a machine the way you get things done!
DRIFTER_016 Posted July 3, 2016 Author Report Posted July 3, 2016 Pretty much finished with the interior framing except for stairs and closets. Going to start working on the South deck and porch roof next week. Looking from beside closet under the stairs. Wall and doorway roughed in for the inside portion of the arctic entry. Looking out from the back corner of the utility room. Looking from the entry door through the inside doorway of arctic entry. Looking into the washroom through the doorway.
DRIFTER_016 Posted July 4, 2016 Author Report Posted July 4, 2016 Got some rain this evening. Real hard rain with hail!!!! We don't get that too often in these parts. The lake looked a little sporty!!! I figure the wids were gusting 60-70 as the storm rolled in. Video of the torrential rain and hail. https://www.facebook.com/dave.orr.35/videos/1470663199626681/ It seems my roof tarps were not up to the task. Guess I'll have to do something about that this week.
mr blizzard Posted July 4, 2016 Report Posted July 4, 2016 Inside looks awesome, were going to come and check it out but winds picked up and to shore we went half our house was under blue sky half under black clouds alot of lightning to the east, figured u were getting a pounding Cant open the link, can u send me something on the phone thx
DRIFTER_016 Posted July 5, 2016 Author Report Posted July 5, 2016 Ran in to town today for supplies and when I came back the water bombers were working on a lightning caused fire from last nights storm. The fire was 1.5-2 miles NE of my place. But there is a hydro dam between me and the fire so they tend to work pretty hard and fast on fires around me. Don't know if this will work but I took video of the water bombers. They had a spotter plane working with them as well as a couple of choppers (may be bringing in ground crews). I also changed the privacy settings on last nights video so hopefully it works too.
DRIFTER_016 Posted July 5, 2016 Author Report Posted July 5, 2016 Went out and got me a new cooler today. Needed something that would keep ice longer than my Coleman Extreme Marine cooler. These high end Engels are supposed to be good. Supposed to be bear proof as well. They claim they will keep ice 10 days. They better be for the price I paid for it!!!! Luckily it was their "Every Day Low Price". Total out the door was $545!!!!

DRIFTER_016 Posted July 5, 2016 Author Report Posted July 5, 2016 WHEW!!!!! Six hundred bucks buys a lot of ice...............or gas to run a genny to run a fridge................ This thing will keep my halibut frozen on the trip back from Alaska no problem. Pretty sure I can jam at least $600 worth of yummy halibut in there frozen and it will still be completely frozen solid when I get home a few days later. So far after 1/2 a day the ice hasn't even started to think of melting yet.
