Well, what a day and what a weird start to it...

The boys met me here around 3ish we loaded up the truck and were off and running by 4am. First Stop? You guessed it Timmies.

We pretty much had the Highway to ourselves and it made our travel an enjoyable one, a tons of laughs were shared even a couple at my expense :D We were on to Ajax to pick up Gone_Fishing (Scott) grabbed Scott and again we were off.. About 45 minutes after picking up Scott I hear OHHHH CRAP!! (that is never a good thing on a fishing trip) Corey exclaims "I LEFT MY BOOTS AT HOME!!!" kinda to late to turn back now.. so here is Corey in his running shoes going on a ice fishing trip... not a good idea..

We pull into Belleville around 6:30 am have a TON of laughs @ Corey's expense another coffee waiting for Carra Outdoors to open. Adam and Sandy arrived with their puppy... what a sharp looking pup! 7:00am Laura greets us with a warm smile and invites in, She also let us know that Sam had made an OFC special for our outing...10% off! WOW!!! Thanks you Sam! that was awesome of you... I picked up a few new lures and started to GRILL Glen for all the info we could muster.. I gotta tell you Glen is top notch provided us with a ton of info on what was working and what wasnt and most inportant where to go!! He draw us a map and explains the layout of the bay we would be fishing and drew a map how to get there! Glen we all want to to thank you..Sam this guy deserves a raise :D He really knows his stuff and is super friendly as well and willing to help.. Again Thank you!

I should add Corey Still doesnt have boots... he also left his debit card at home so he was unable to purchase a pair from Carra... Sheesh this day is getting better and better....

After shooting the carp inside Carra, BrickNblock (Pete) showed up with his daughter after all the nicety's and a few handshakes we conducted out business with Carra... When Pete heard about Corey's situation he offered to run home and grab a pair that Corey could borrow for the day.....WOW!!! Pete you saved his arse! We waited @ Tim Hortons for Pete while he ran and grabbed the boots for Corey.. 30 minutes seemed like HOURS!!! and I think Corey was shedding tears he was the brunt of every comment made in the truck  Pete fianlly arrives and were off to go fishing!!

Ohhhhh it was also around this time that the new nickname for Corey is now "Boots"

We get to the ice... and I admit I am a chicken while there are alot of cars parked on the ice I for one did not feel comfortable with it... the guys understood and agreed... I parked on safe dry land and it only added 5 minutes to our walk.. :D I was shocked at the amount of people driving their vehicles on the ice, many of them full sized trucks... the ice was 9-10 ... I know I wouldnt be doing it!

we walk out to the spots Glen provided us with and set to fishing... The bite was slow with one small one caught by Uncle Buck (Goran) back into the hole it went... then nothing... no taps, bumps, hits or strikes on anything! Pete and I decide to go so a little exploring... Auger in hand we drill holes in a few place then decide upon fishing an area along a pressure crack it turned out to be a wise decision! We got into some fish!

I do need to add the wind got something fierce and we were visited by a CO who was a super guy! I forget his name though... perhaps one of the other guys will remember it He checked our Liscences gave us some fishing tips he was hearing from the other guys had a bit of a conversation with us, Wished us good luck and was off to the next guy.... A great guy and it was nice to see them out there doing their jobs!

Here are the pictures from today

We decided to leave the ice around 4:30 as the wind was getting worse and worse Corey and Jay hide inside his frabill to get out of the wind and get a bit of heat...

Keeping snow out of the holes was a major PIA!

I went over and talked to Adam N Sandy and they had a fish on and they couldn't get the head through their 6" hole!! insane!

well Thats about it folks I am sure the other guys will chime in soon!

I had a great day, met some new people, made some new friend and busted myself into stitches for most of the day!

Come on February 24th!! so we can do it all over again!

...oh and "Boots"...go back to carrrying cash! LOL

I had cash! But I wasn't going to spend $159 on a pair of boots when I got a $150 pair at home. I was going to just run to Cdn Tire or Walmart and pickup some cheapies for the day. Big thanks to BricknBlock for the loaner boots. He saved me $40 or so on a cheapie set. If I can make it to the Tyler event, I will find a way to repay you.

Great report, looks like a good time was had and some bonus fish were caught.

You left at the right time i'd guess.

Went down there as well today after work. Didn't get on ice until 3:30ish stayed till 6:00 or so.

No fish, some hits. The wind did get brutal, forcing me to constantly use the skimmer.

Some pics of the wind

My feet were warm as long as I stayed moving around. When I was in my hut my toes went numb. We were on the ice from about 9:30am to 4:30pm or so... roughly 7 hours.

Excellent report. Sam's folks seem to have given you a decent welcome as well.
