  1. Ironmak peolpe always ask me about all our Canadian stuff. I’m proud of my Canadian roots and miss it lots. Phil good to hear from you. How you doing?
  2. Bobowski we are required to keep and kill them. I called the fisheries biologist and she instructed me on what do with it. ( checked for eggs).
  3. Howdy All Its been a while since I’ve posted anything. I’m still fishing as much as I can with three kids but busy with life. This past spring I’ve got into fly fishing for trout and really enjoy it. The kids really enjoy trout fishing. The state does a really nice job stocking trout here in the creeks. My son won a trout derby in the spring and he was so happy and got s big trophy. We did our annual two week trip to Nippissing and the fishing was a little slower then last year but we still caught a lot. We did really well on top water lures. We did a trip to the ocean and caught some flounder which was fun. We also fish one of the big east coast rivers for Shad and that was a lot of fun. Caught some interesting fish. Including some big flathead catfish and Asian snakeheads that are invasive species here.
  4. Lew I enjoyed our time on the water together! I learned a lot from you my friend! Hope al is well!
  5. Beautiful fish! Restoule is a great place!
  6. Very cool! I was at the French River with a couple of guys when my buddy catches a small walleye. He brings it up and as he's lifting it out of the water this musky grabs the walleye (while about 6" in the air) and takes the fish and snaps the 6lb line. We were all in shock!
  7. Thanks guys! Cast-away yes I moved to the US 13 years ago. I still miss Canada every day!
  8. It was too hot for us. It was 28-31 degrees most days sunny and humid. Water was 77 degrees on the fish finder.
  9. I was lucky to get a chance to fish a lot this summer. We spent two week on lake nipissing in ontario at Callender Bay. We stayed at Glen Echo Cottages and had a lovely time. They have great fishing boats with brand new 30hp 4 stroke engines with new fish finders. The fishing was pretty good despite the very hot temperatures. We caught lots of walleye and smallmouth bass and some sheephead and pike too. I fished a few times for muskies and had a fish follow my bucktail twice, with no luck. Most of our fish were caught in the 20-25 ft range. We fished for about 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours at sunset. It was too hot to fish during the day. Most of our fish were on live bait and the kids caught a lot of fish and had a good time. We did catch a s few on lures too. We also spent a week in vermont on Lake Champlain about 40 minutes south of montreal. We fished for about an hour in the mornings off the dock and at sunset. We caught a lot of bass both largemouth and smallmouth. We also caught a lot of perch which kept the kids happy. We also caught some bowfin and a pike too which was a nice surprise. We also spent a week at the ocean in Delaware. We caught floudner, weakfish and striped bass. All the fish were caught on berkley gulp on jig heads. This one day we caught about 20 flounder in about 1 hours of fishing and the action was non stop. Kids had a lot of fun. I'll let the pictures do the talking. 10. Flatheads. We have channel cats and blues too.
  11. I let them go. The waters here are pretty contaminated with heavy metals.
  12. I was out fishing for smallmouth this morning with jig/worm combo on 6lb line. I didn't catch any bass but I did land two nice catfish and carp. They put up crazy fights on the light action rod with 6lb test. The big cat took me 30 minutes to land. Excuse my silly facial expressions. It was hard trying to do a selfie and hold up the bigger fish. .
  13. Thanks guys! The kids loved holding the fish and aren't afraid at all. They have been doing it now for several years.
  14. It's been a while since i've posted. I liked to save up pictures for a season and then get enough to make a decent report. Its been a colder then normal spring here with a lot of rain. I have been fishing with the kids a lot and they have caught many new personal best fish including carp, channel and flat head carp and largemouth bass. We had a lot of fun and most of our fish were let go. This is my personal best flathead catfish. She was caught on a 1/16 ounce shad dart with 6lb line. Put up a crazy fight and took me about 20 minutes to land. This was my daughter's personal best flathead. She caught this on some corn bottom fishing for carp. This is my son's personal best channel catfish he caught on a small shad dart. He was struggling to hold the thing up. It put up a nice fight in the current. Another channel cat caught on a 2 inch twister tail jig. This is my son's biggest bass that we caught this spring. She was caught while we were fishing for crappie with a 1" gulp minnow on 4lb fine. It was an intense battle and we were able to land it! We let it go after a quick couple of pics. We don't have a bass season down here. I'm helping him hold the fish for perspective. . Another nice bass on a 1" gulp while crappie fishing. We also caught some nice shad! This was the biggest one that we landed this season. Nice american shad! We also caught some nice carp too on shad darts and light line! This one weighed 23lb and it was a long battle that we won! We also caught some nice crappie too! My first spring smallie. It was nice to get out on the creek!
  15. Thanks for all the comments. We had a blast and the fishing was good despite the weather. The sheephead were tough fish and they fought really hard on our light gear! I have never ate a sheephead before and wasn't sure how to cook it up or clean it. Are they good to eat?
  16. We just got back from a awesome two week vacation on Lake Nipissing. We live in Delaware but I always make a it a priority to take my kids to Canada to spend time with the grandparents and also experience the Canadian outdoors. We stayed on the eastern end of the lake. The first week was really hot and it was over 30 degrees every day and I think the water almost got up to to 78 degrees. The second week was much cooler and the water temperatures came down a lot to about 72-74 degrees with a constant west wind that was very high and made it tough to get out onto the water for long periods of time. There were several large thunderstorms too. The waves were big and it was rough out there. This fishing was great for short windows of time, usually right before a front came through or early in the morning between 6:00 - 7:00 and later at night from about 7:30 - 9:00. between those times we would be able to catch about 10-15 fish in a really short period of time. We were constantly catching Smallmouth, walleye, sheephead and a few pike. We caught a few fish on lures but most of the fish were on live bait and jigs. My son and daughter both caught their first ever pike, walleye and sheephead and they were so excited. The great thing was that we never knew what was on the other end of the line, which made it really exciting. I spent most of my time helping my kids catch fish. I did get a chance to fish for short periods of time and I caught a few nice fish. I caught my PB northern pike and smallmouth bass. We actually did really well with a dropshot rig. The smallmouth, walleye and sheephead to my surprise really liked them alot. My son also got a sucker and catfish that way which was surprising. We caught a lot of walleye on our trip but most of the fish where under the slot size. I think we got two that were just at 46cm which you could keep, but we let them go. I will let the pics do the rest of the talking.
