WILL FISH FOR BEER

Recommended Posts

I'm sure this will be pinned and bookmarked for generations to absorb

This is not a post to glorify alcohol.

It is a post meant to gorify waste (and inspire conservation).

For years I have fished around parks and waterways that are hemorrhaging money.

Every time I go out I noticed FREE MONEY!!!!! in the form of discarded bottles and cans.

As a child we had no allowance. My family lived near a large park where my brothers and I made a killing collecting bottles and cans.

I figured,

Why not capitalize on my fishing excursions.

Would you not bend over to pick up 10 cents? (think about what you bend over for right now)

Sadly, the images you'll see are not staged.

I could have taken hundreds of these!

Here is a lone Stella fish suspending, enjoying a little sun.

(Tip: They hang close to walls to bask in the warmth the concrete has accumulated)

Nearly missed this guy lurking in the weeds.

(Tip: Structure, Structure, Structure)

Some like a mix of rock and branches.

(notice the damage to it's spine)

Again,

Structure!!!

Found this blue hole.

They are amazing when they school like this.

Finesse is key and don't be afraid to try different presentations.

Nice mixed bag for 10 min. of fishing!

(See that German lunker in the middle!)

Now, I like to clean my own catch.

I cut off the skin to get rid of fat and toxins.

You'll see in the back I've put it's guts in a glass.

med_gallery_82_84_59767.jpg

If you don't want to clean your catch, take it here.

They even offer to buy your catch

med_gallery_82_84_28659.jpg

With the money you'll make, you can go here.

med_gallery_82_84_4512.jpg

You can then catch one of these.

med_gallery_82_84_32135.jpg

You can cook it, gracefully.

med_gallery_82_84_14218.jpg

And dine in pleasure. (You will even have a little extra money for a late night movie and reading material)

med_gallery_82_84_27368.jpg

So now you know how to:

1. Pay yourself to fish

2. Clean up the environment

3. Feed yourself and others

Look for the instructional DVD and audio tapes coming soon!

Regards,

S.

Yep -- my best buddy is a die-hard collector of both glass and aluminum dimes....it's no sweat for him to pick up $10-$20 a week, and if he wants to try, he can find that in half a day.

We never go fishing without coming home with a few extra empties -- keep on keepin' on! :D

excellent twist on that post :worthy:

I too grew up where we would look for pop bottles to bring back to the store to buy goodies..or thought it was a real bonus if Mom, let us grab a couple from under the sink to go buy some candy.

I bet more people read a possitive response into your post besides the millions of them that start out with the words..idiot,slobs ect...

Nice work Snag...but I gotta ask you.

Is it really sporting if you just reach down and pick them up? Isn't netting illegal? Or do you throw lures at them to entice them to bite. I sure hope marshmallows and flossing is not being used here. If you catch them all, then there wont be any left for future generations to enjoy. Remember, it's our kids' future you're messing with here.

Nice write up by the way!

I'll try to respond to posts that look like they required one!

Its sad how much junk there is on the river these days, beer cans everywhere, tim cups as well.

Agreed, sickening.

With a looming recession, hopefully it will decrease!

:worthy: Snag for Prime Minister!

That would be insane! Though the Liberals look like they're hiring, Hmmmmm :whistling:

It's really easy to get them during their spawning run, but I'm not sure how ethical it is.

I poached them. There I said it. and I feel fine.

Jewel, I have to admit my original post was going to be a rant with harsher labels!!!!

There is a dead lyric that goes:

Talk about your plenties,

Talk about your ills,

One man gathers,

What another man spills

You are correct. I did all the above.

There were some I couldn't quite reach that I consider "Breeders". They will carry on and repopulate.

Loved the shot of you stirring your vittles with the screwdriver!

Slot head allows the juices to enter the meat.

but i got the moral of the story.

Erik, you would be a millionaire by now too!!

but why are you using a Sanley slot to stir? ;)

Good question,

Philips head scratches teflon too easily.

Nice Haul of Brown Trout and Steelhead. That stocking program has been working well....LOL

Hamilton is infested with LAKERS

How about meeting up and I will show you the finer points of catching the large mouth cart and the small block chevy

Sweet!

Snag....that's THE BEST (and saddest) post I've ever read!

It is pathetic, really

So I guess "catch & release" was not allowed on this outing

I have to admit that I did kill a few.

sick report

Mad skillz prevailed

Those Carlings are a rare sight this time of year...

They normally cluster under your body every night.

I was glad I didn't have to fish that hole for them
