Joey
Well as per GCD's request, I took some pics of the day We were supposed to meet Emil and Tapout on the 400 at the bait shop at 6 a.m., but by 6:25 they had still not arrived so we headed out so we would possibly still find a half decent parking spot at Gilford, not so Exercise is good for you right We were on the ice by 7:30ish and it was still dark, which was a little unnerving being the fist time out on the ice and not knowing the thickness. But we trusted Terry's reports and followed the masses. There was some broken up ice that had frozen over at the beginning, which in the dark looked pretty freaky. I took a picture of it on the way back when there was daylight, kind of eerie eh. We walked a ways and drilled a few holes and set up. Paul caught a few dinks and that was about it. We saw Terry coming out and he suggested we go a bit further, so we followed him on on foot as he blasted to his spot on his bike. We set up and my two holes were a frenzy for awhile, couldn't keep the fish off at one point, mostly small, but a couple of keepers. Terry did not too bad either, Paul seemed to just be bad luck Although he was optimistic. Terry with all his toys. Me having a jiggy time. We saw a few other OFNr's out there too, Skeeter, Tracker and Skud. Nice to see you guys again. How did you make out? It was a small town out there today. Everywhere you looked, it was populated. We moved another time but it looked like the bite was off so we called it a day around 1 p.m. When we got to shore, we noticed someone walking in that looked like Emil, so we waited around and sure enough, it was him. Tony had gone to get the truck so we stayed and gabbed for a bit and found out they had gone too far north and were a bit lost when trying to meet up with us in the morning We'll get out with you next time guys Think we're heading back up on New Years day Joey Edited December 30, 2007 by Joey

tbayboy
Wow quite the crowd out there today. I'd have freaked if I'd seen that ice too Joey. Suppose to hit a party new years eve but maybe a cold day on the ice would be a good hangover cure?

tapout
hey guys, Well after meeting up with emil we loaded his things aboard my van and off we went about 5:45 from Brampton. Headed along King road road and when I decided to make a detour around Bolton, I missed a turn somewhere along the way and before I knew it we were at hwy 9. We decided to head onwards to Gilford anyway as we were supposed to meet Tybo and Joey at the service centre on the 400. We must've just missed you at the shore Joey because we we're out on the ice at about 7:30 as well. Emil had some gps co-ordinates so I just followed him as best I could. He didn't stop until he was about 1.5 - 2 kms off shore. His ice cleats we're much needed and used well as I didn't see him lose a step, while I on the otherhand was performing moves that would make most figure skaters envious with just a pair of boots with no cleats. As Joey said we met up with them as we got to shore. Chatted a bit and then off we went. I landed about 40 or so perch with the biggest about 11 inches. I kept 20 and let the rest swim again. Had a great time out there and hope to meet some other OFC'rs out there soon. Cheers.
Skud
Hey Joey, I only caught one more fish after we chatted and that was trying four different spots. I took home two dozen and just cooked them up for dinner. I will be out again on New years day.
Fisherman
Ya, looks like Joey and gang was just a tad south of me too, going to have to bring out the FRS/GMRS radios.
DANIMAL
I was out there too, it was a pretty tough day. The screen on my flasher would light right up, I'd catch a few, then they'd dissapear. So I experimented with some different baits and found the best way was to jig aggressively with a large flashy spoon, then when they came in I dropped a small jig tipped with maggots and cought a few at a time. That stayed consistent throughout the day and I cought about 80 with 30 keepers.
icefisherman
Thanks for the picture Joey and for saving me the trouble of having to open a new thread for my report as it is not worth a new thread. Dinks, dinks and more dinks....I haven't done any perching last year and went only after the big guys and this is exactly what I'll do this year.......if we ever get ice on the big Lake that is. Today was my first and last perch ice fishing day for the season....remember only few years ago I was getting only fish over 10" for hours trip after trip in the same spot we were today. And for all the walking today.....more then 100 dinks./.. was very hard pressed to keep 15 half decent perch for my son to play with in the tub tonight....tons of perch, the LX-5 was like Christmas tree most of the day, but size is totally gone down the ....hole.... Thanks to Tony for the ride...and I'll be spending next few weeks working on my boat and.....waiting ;-) Cheers, Ice Fisherman

Greencoachdog
Great report and pics Joey!!! Too bad about the fish, sometimes ya gotta give the little ones the sore-mouth so the big fat lazy ones can get around to bitin'. All those people so close yet so far! Somebody needs to set up an OFC flag or banner to attract attention... maybe fire off a couple flares or something!
douG
That is so cool. Post pictures on the interwebs to see where your fishing buddies were today. Great report, Joanne, making me itch to hit that hardwater.
Terry
most people see the ATV and know it me <a href="http://s25.photobucket.com/albums/c52/Mrbeee1954/?action=view¤t=joe-1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c52/Mrbeee1954/joe-1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a> but we need to take marine radios or gmrs radios so we can find everyone Edited December 31, 2007 by Terry
