  1. 4 days till pike hunting......can't wait!

  2. Great day out Fishmaster. I had a lot of fun out there all day. Great job on the Tourney and i'll be back next year.
  3. Hey oldphart. Great report. Good to see you got some action. I found the crapies were very inactive during that cold snap. Went right to bottom and stayed tight lipped. We will have to get out soon to Lake X.
  4. Thanks guys. It was a sweet way to start the day. Wind was bitter cold too. Rather have bitter cold than what's coming next week...( Cheers, IW
  5. Took my dad and two friens up to Simcoe today. fish were very sluggish and not very plentyful. we managed about 25 keepers. Most fish were 10-12" and hardly any small ones. I also beat my 15" PB perch today , with a 15 1/2" beauty!!! Let her go to make lots of babies. 12fow and deadsticking again. Marmooska jigs and minnow heads to downsize was what needed to be done to get some fish. Not very active at all. Good luck to everyone this weekend! Cheers. IW The new PB.........
  6. Well i went down to the MNR office today and explained what happened. When the two ladies picked their jaws up , they straightened it out for me. I was charged for and given a 2008 Canadian resident sport license , not an Ontario resident sport license. They were sending someone to Canadian tire to straighten it out , but apparently it was a big deal. they were very helpful and fixed everything with no problem. Apparently , after my dad went in to get his done later , there were a few others starting to pop in reporting the same thing. Sucks to be Canadian Tire.......... Hitting Simcoe for some perch to try out my new license!!!lol Cheers, IW
  7. Thanks Guys. I will see what happens tomorrow. I thought i got a free guided week with that price...lol
  8. I bought my license today and was charged $43 at Canadian tire. Now i have bought many licenses in my day and i never heard of that much??? I read my regs and it says there is a new section for residents of Canada , as well as Residents of Ontario. I should have paid $23.79 , and residents of Canada ( non residents of ontario ) should be $44.06 I am calling the MNR tomorrow , but just wanted your imput. the girl at the desk said i was wrong , but i don't believe i am. Please Help!!!
  9. WTG oldphart. I had a hard time with the eyes. I was sure i marked a couple cruising bottom , but they wouldn't respond. We should get together for an outing up there this winter. Crappies are moving deep and should be a bit easier to catch soon hopefully. cheers, IW
  10. Great report oldphart. Nice to see the eyes were biting. must have been chilly out there?? IW
  11. Thanks guys. they are fun to catch through the ice and awsome to eat. I will be visiting for some more on Thursday. Cheers!
  12. That's the one garry. Beautiful lake and close to home which is nice.
  13. Nice catch oldphart. That open water looks a little sketchy! Good luck with the crappie tomorrow.
  14. I got out today with my dad up to Jack's. We were out on the ice by 8am and stayed till about 2. The crappie were biting well with the average size of 12-13". Last week they were in 29fow right on bottom. Today we searched out the 38fow range and caught most fish at 4-6feet off bottom. The morning bite was very agressive and the noon till 2 was slow. Marked lots of fish and had a hard time getting biters after noon , but managed to fool a few. Marmooska jigs and minnow heads were the secret . Seems like the crappie are entering their deep water , suspending habit now. My dad and i with a photo op. Brought 5 home for a New Years crappie feast!! Happy New Year to everyone and play safe!!! Cheers!!!!
  15. Welcome to the board and great report. Panfish always make for a good day on the water.
  16. Great report. That ice does look a little dicey. Lots of guys out there too.
  17. I agree Terry. The best fight i have ever seen Silva took some major hits and kept coming back. Lidell had the look of a ticked off grizzly bear. A little disappointed in the Hughes/st Pierre fight. Thought it would be a little better.
  18. Thanks for the compliment on the report. Virgiia is really producing some big perch right now. I was going to go to Keswick but i think the ice is better in Virginia and the schools contain more #s of bigger jumbos. Back out tomorrow for some crappie or lakers. Can't decide. Cheers
  19. Here are the pics of Jack Lake 2 days ago. Heading back up tomorrow morning.
  20. I am in Hamilton now but am origanilly from Peterborough. I am visiting for the holidays and doing some fishing while i'm here. I went up yesterday and we caught 3 crappie , on at 13" and the other two were smaller. Seen 3 other nice 12 or 13" caught. Slow day but the crappie went nice with the perch from simcoe the day before. Ice was 8-10 of good black and 2 inches of white on top of that. about 10 guys out. I will put the post and pics up tonight.
  21. I am Now living in Hamilton but i was driving down from North Bay last winter. Addicted to Simcoe is the disease i have...lol I will post the pics tonight.
  22. On the water by 9 with my dad and two buddies. Fish bit almost off the hop and big perch especially. One in the 14 range(fat) and several 11-13". Kept abot 25 between us and tossed the big girls back. Dead action from 12-2 , but then back on. Last Tuesday jigging rap outproduced minnows with an agressive jig. Today complete opposite with a deadstick. Saw huge schools under the shade of the fish trap. 12 -13 fow . Marmooska jigs and Genz worms were the ticket tipped with a minnow or minnow head. 9-10 inches of ice in most places around the huts. 3 trucks out there today??????????? Play safe and bring cleats if you got em'. Tomorrow is a Crappie hunt. Will post pics soon. Gotta get up for 4am and didn't get them off the camera tonight.
  23. Went to Casey's today for minnows and I have to agree. I have been going there for a few years and i will alway's go back. Very friendly and always have what you want( minnows esp.)
  24. I called Sunday. There have beeen people out fishing but there was too much slush on the ice. I am going up on Friday so i will report what i find. Last i heard there was about 4-5 inches , around when we got the rain. Hopefully she held up with the cold weather.
