  1. Bass pro sells them only in kits. But I'm pretty sure they are only about $15 or so.
  2. I'm just looking for general reviews on them. How are they different from the Calcutta? Are they a lot smaller than the 400 model?
  3. It's a round baitcast reel made for saltwater. I'm thinking about trying one out for musky fishing. Any one here use one? If so, what do you think about it.
  4. If they're genetically different, they should be in a different catagory.
  5. Thanks everyone for all the replies. I think I'm going to buy a calcutta and see how I like it.
  6. And after doing the course it takes a good 2 months for your application to be prossesed. I've been waiting about a month for mine.
  7. I was checking out the shimano website and only the small size calcutta comes in a high gear ratio. The curado you mentioned looks interesting. I'm going to look in to that one.
  8. I cast more than troll, but I use seperate low gear ratio line counter reels for trolling. I really like high speed reels for all casting, even hard pulling baits. I'm looking for a high quality reel like a calcutta with at least a 6:1 gear ratio. I'm not to sure if such a thing even exists, but I thought I would ask.
  9. I'm going to be buying a couple new musky reels soon and I'm looking for some ideas on wich to buy. I've been using Abu Garcia Ambassadeur C4's and I really like the high speed 6.3 gear ratio, but they just ware out too fast. Does anybody here know of any higher quality high speed musky reels.
  10. Those are some huge perch. Are they the same species of perch we have in ontario?
  11. All the presentations you mentioned work good. Jigging a spoon tipped with a minnow head and minnows (live or dead) on a quick strike rig have been most productive for me.
  12. Try real maggots or minnows. They'll outfish artificials by far most days.
  13. I was told by a CO that as long as you keep the fish for consumption you can use the eyes or any other part of it not fit for comsumption. As for panfish baits I usually use a small jig tipped with magots or minnows.
  14. Try Bass magnet lures. I think they are in Belleville.
  15. I've bought them frozen at zehrs, and fresh at caudles catch in Kitchener.
  16. Pigeon lake resort is near noogies creek and open until nov. 15.
  17. Thank raf. And what's deep for the bay, maybe 20-30 ft.
  18. Yeah I've been fishing the Kawarthas for a few years now and have had some good days for numbers of small to decent size fish. Now I want to try for a giant.
  19. I am thinking about trying georgian bay for for my first time for musky this weekend. I have a good map of the severn sound area. Would this be a good area to start? And generally what type of structure should I be looking for? And any other tips and tricks anybody is willing to offer would be great. Feel free to PM me if you dont want to post. Thanks.
  20. Shimano makes a compre spinning rod designed for musky. I think its about $140.
  21. I believe that what humans are doing is the natural order of evolution. Its suvival of the fittest. We have just evolved so greatly that in order for any thing to survive including ourselves, we must controll and not just conquer.
  22. Tiger muskies are sterile meaning they cant spawn. So they wont hurt the fishery. I have read they behave more like a pike. But pike and musky behave very similar.
  23. Nice cats. And your probably right on with your guesse. I've cought two 18 pounders there this spring, and one was 31'' and the other was 33''.
  24. I think contacting the MNR would be the only way to get a definite answer.
  25. I'm pretty sure that in the old regs, adding a blade makes it a lure. But in the new regs it sounds to me like you are allowed to use 4 hooks per line wether they are trebles, singles,or used with bait or a lure.
