  1. Spent a few days on Stanley Island about 20 yrs. ago. Had access to a large boat and still found it tough to manage the current. Caught a few smallmouth bass on swim type jigs cast around rocks on deeper sides of island. If you hook up with the offer above, you have it made.
  2. Caught an 8 lb. walleye on a musky spinnerbait on Head Lake. The Kawartha record musky of 45 lb. was caught there. Weird lake, never caught a panfish or perch there. Aside from summer weekends it is quiet.
  3. There were very few crappies in the Kawarthas and most of Ontario 20 yrs. ago except bit of Lake Simcoe and Georgian Bay around Severn area. White crappie in Welland area then as well. About 15 yrs. ago the black crappie exploded through Kawarthas, etc. Caught my first Kawartha crappie on Pigeon incidentally in 1997. It was a 15 incher. They have been much smaller since.
  4. Ya, that is too bad.He was the anchor and voice of the original super band. This is my favourite song featuring Jack Bruce's great vocals and bass. Oh yeah drummer Ginger Baker and guitarist were good too. Spoonful
  5. HaHa, ya Bill it's Pigeon Lake that's mostly what you get. lol Just wanted to show suggested lure setup for north Pigeon Lake depths during daytime.
  6. Just thought i would add photo to show set up i suggested. In photo i actually used 1/2 oz. jig but still have stinger hook and blk/silver sassy shad body. Used half a dew worm hooked head to main jig hook and tail to stinger hook. Probably over 50 ft.of water at location north end of Pigeon. Again, try this method.outlined in post above.....good luck need to click on this link for photo..... http://smg.photobucket.com/user/shiffy/media/IMG_0005-21.jpg.html?sort=3&o=45
  7. Sorry to disagree but America is the 'melting pot' where folks who immigrate are supposed to assimilate. Canada is considered a 'cultural mosaic' or 'multicultural' where folks are encouraged to retain and share their culture. Canada 'cultural mosaic' vs. American 'melting pot' was what i was taught in high school. But anyways, these apparent 'terrorist' attacks were done by life long Canadian citizens (Quebecois) who used Islam as a cover to commit their atrocities.
  8. Your best bet is 1/4 to 3/ 8 oz.yellow/chartreuse jigs with silver/blk sassy shad or twister tail body. Need to tip with half worm or minnow. Stinger hook is essential to get the nibblers. Set yourself up to cross that 45-60 ft. area and drift across. Often caught fish as drifted into 30 ft. rocky bits. Mostly at this time of year they were at deepest part of lake. Fish would shut down as night approached. The days of gusty southwest wind seemed best. Always make sure to contact bottom and adjust line accordingly. Reel in or let out. You will get your slot size limit no doubt this way. Even a shot at a 8- 10 lb. rare monster Days of East wind sucked, however. This method worked for me there for 3 decades. You know the area east of Hurricane Pt. eh? Good luck.
  9. What seems to be overlooked here is that the latest 'terrorist' murderers were lifelong Canadian citizens (Quebecois). They only recently found Islam and only used it as an excuse to murder because they are losers. All these ISIS dudes (who are evil too....) are British, Canadian and American citizens. Not turban wearing visible minorities hoping for better life. These latest murders are by life long CANADIAN CiTIZENS. This is a tragic situation. Please God help us. No wonder i rarely read this board anymore with all this intolerant and racially biased diatribes.
  10. Ya this guy (today) was a french-canadian from Quebec. The apparent 'terrorst' shooting in Quebec the other day was a french-canadian as well. These murderers are life long Canadian citizens that recently converted to Islam (last few months) to find an excuse to shoot a gun at others because they were disgruntled losers. Bet those losers didn't get out and enjoy the stellar fishing around Montreal-Ottawa area. This is sad for everyone. Some of my friends are Muslim and i am sad for how they will be mistreated because of this.
  11. The blue boathouse but mainly, Over there
  12. Ya its a small pike. Have caught 10-12 inch musky while bass fishing. The juv. musky were silvery with similar barring of dark greenish colouring.
  13. Hey fishdawg, i remember you from Canadian sportfishing mag. contests back 95'-96' or so.....lol Been around OFC since 2002 as well, could not believe my enthusiasm. My first internet computer and digital camera allowed me to post endless fishing adventures back then. Fun stuff and perfect compliment to advancing fishing technologies. Great site.
  14. X2 . Not much grace shown here. lol Most POLITICAL fishing community ever. Should stick to fishing. A decade ago this site had 75 % fishing reports with pictures. Now......
  15. Thanks for the heads up. That is exactly what they are looking for....cottage rentals with housekeeping and other amenities. Wondering if there is anything similar or if anyone can share personal experience. Again, many thanks.
  16. Hi, have some family friends looking to rent a cottage on Pigeon Lake for a week sometime this summer. They have 3 teenage boys (11-17 yrs.) and are looking for somewhere to comfortably accommodate them. Having boat rentals (tinny 9.9 ) is pretty important. These people aren't into fishing.despite living in Peterborough. Personally never rented myself before but used to have place up there. Did mega walleye, musky bass reports on board here. I remember all the spots and methods for catching multi-species there. They are inviting me up for a bit mainly to give my disabled butt (secondary progressive MS) a chance to get out fishing. Anyways, thinking that many here might have experience with renting a place in north end Pigeon and look forward to any input on good cottage rentals that are not to rustic. Has to be north of Gannon Narrows or so... Thanks in advance!
  17. x3 Often feels like a chat line for those few, now....
  18. It is mean to blurt out that transgression. What a sin! lol
  19. The smile on Jen's face is a testament to the power of her strength and spirit. We all could learn something from her.
  20. Seems like the nearest star (the Sun) coupled with our position to it is responsible for life on Earth. , The Egyptians, and others before them, figured this out. Maybe the whole universe is god-like and our Sun gives humans and other Earth beings life. So maybe Al Linder is thankful for the Sun being responsible for the fish. that made him lotsa money.
  21. Us fishing enthusiasts are lucky you provide the best of (largest, multi-species) fishing in Ontario I like how you target the spots where the biggest fish are most accessible seasonally. I remember a decade ago seeing posts elsewhere by you. Now the biggest musky in the world are on your doorstep. Awesome to see you putting your skills to the test and then sharing with the community. Many thanks.
  22. Ya, splake are hybrids that don't reproduce.. Why not these things they look pretty cool. Once kept a deeply hooked large resident trib. brown. about 16 " It was best fresh fish meal i had. Nice red salmon like flesh. Think you are right about length etc...The angler in picture is doing super arm extension pose.
  23. Good of people to put up pics. Luckily i never lost power here at my location.downtown T.O. Know many people a few blocks away that are freezing. The Ottawa- Montreal ice storm of 1998 probably might have been the worse ever in Canada. Had friends in Montreal that had power back after few days. Friends south of Ottawa around Smith Falls had no power for a few weeks. Lucked out downtown here but know many not far away that are having a frozen Christmas. This storm has caused loss of power to well over half million people in Toronto area. STILL. With the temps. dropping the complaints are going to really increase over next few days. This might be 2nd biggest ice storm , next to 1998. The population with no power this Christmas is huge.
