Last confirmed cougar in Ontario was Creemore in 1897. Watched all the youtube/smartphone videos and the western mountain lions aren't in any hurry to bolt. They seem to relaxed almost stalking, not taking off scared. They are apex predator. Need pics/video please in this smartphone world.

Ya i know made a copying mistake.HaHa They are way out west....not many there either(1,000) but lots of videos, people whip out their smartphones faster out west. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NeWM1eiWil4

Okay, found video of Eastern Cougar in New Brunswick. At least someone had their smartphone video. Been about a decade of smartphones.

Again, you always have smartphone why no picture? Especially a dead one wont run away. They are huge. https://www.google.ca/search?q=mountain+lion+size&biw=1366&bih=677&tbm=isch&imgil=q4puIQxs8P04OM%253A%253BTDjr8HBXFG7C8M%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fjavla.com%25252Fsearch%25252Fimages%25252526search%2525253Dmountain%2525252520lions%2525252520in%2525252520idaho%25252526type%2525253Dimages&source=iu&pf=m&fir=q4puIQxs8P04OM%253A%252CTDjr8HBXFG7C8M%252C_&usg=__gpL6dMNCbdopr0SquUJT_CCR3AU%3D&ved=0CCIQyjdqFQoTCI7QpJvonMkCFctoPgod9awNnA&ei=VexNVs7RFMvR-QH12bbgCQ#imgrc=q4puIQxs8P04OM%3A&usg=__gpL6dMNCbdopr0SquUJT_CCR3AU%3D Ya anyone can say they saw one. People always say they saw Sasquatch too.

Ya that picture is sketchy. Too small almost dog like. Cougars are Mountain LIONS. You would think with everyone having a smartphone that a good real picture would show up. No other real pictures or scat, hair, etc found for over 100 years. Last caught cougar was in Creemore in 1897.

Almost 60 hours in the past 3 weeks, but we finally took the stink

Good one Wayne! Checked the solunar tables and lunar tables that day both were in your favour. Plus great scenery, chance at massive muskie and getting to check out your neighbourhood . Nice way to spend free time! -
That is one of funniest fish videos i have seen! His father was a 'master-baiter' not 'fly curious' at all. HaHa

Another well written report with lots of excellent photos, videos, history etc...Thanks for providing to us your complete adventure in such detail. St. Clair is really something but apparently Pigeon is ranked just as high in favour of catching musky. Maybe bring your son up around Bobcaygeon, Big Island for musky, you still get a Canadian shield setting. Their is lotsa folks on board here to help ya, if so. -
When parents first got a place on Pigeon 35 yrs. ago as a young teen, i would troll back channel weed lines for walleye with Rapala F11 and caught musky as well as mostly walleye. The musky were so much fun bought a Rapala J-13 chartreuse and caught just musky. Jigged for walleye instead and still caught musky. You are lucky to be on Pigeon Lake!
-
You can still tell they are nice chunky muskies. Pigeon Lake produces....

Ya wow, BC all these negative political threads on a fishing board.

Watched the video GbayGiant. Not bad. Those Spanish and British doctors, scientists, oncologists, etc...see it as a viable treatment. I have progressive MS and severe back issues (fishing related accident) Had cannabis oil (ingestible) tincture(sublingual) and lotion(topical), gifted to me out of compassion. These products were effective for pain relief and disability without a doubt. Should write Trudeau a letter and give the news.

"Generals gather in their masses, Just like witches at black masses. In the fields the bodies burning, As the war machine keeps on turning Politicians hide themselves away, They only started the war. Why should they go out to fight, They leave that to the poor." Black Sabbath- War Pigs-1970 Forty five years later things seem similar.

Why don;t i get these calls? Have a landline and only get family, friends, or expected calls. Didn't join "don't call list" or anything.

That's crazy! Five times same fish, year after year. Did similar post back a decade or so about a musky i caught twice years apart... http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=223 It would be really something if you caught that fish again!

Lots of squabbling online here. Alcohol is the 'gateway' drug. Coca-cola got its name from....back a century ago or so. People were doing cocaine and heroin way back 60-70 yrs. ago back in the jazz era, before marijuana was around much. Alcohol always has been main party fuel, then and now.
-
I remember this post from 7 yrs.ago. Would see these guys trolling around out there but didn't know they were doing this well. Three 50 + inch musky. Blew me away! Too bad the photos are gone now. I started trolling 12 inch Believers, Jake's, Grandmas, after seeing this. Caught musky but never over 48 in. These guys had it going on.
-
Is that Red Rock island? Have caught musky and lotsa walleye there over the decades. Beautiful picture of great part of Pigeon L.

Have a good friend who has been battling cancer for last decade. Chemotherapy on and off the whole time. A friend of hers acquired digestible cannabis oil for her thinking it would help her appetite etc... She didn't want it so gave it to me to help my pain and disability from broken back and relapsing-progressive MS. It did relieve pain for sure. Did the rice size bit in the morning to take edge off pain (never had sleep problem). It would make me more active and quite productive. Kinda was equal to 3 beer sipped over 12 hr. Would have some for 6 months go without for 6 months. No addiction but desired the relief. Maybe i should drink sometime. Ya there is no such "'pot party", alcohol fuels every party since humans made it. Alcohol is the main fuel always and that's alright. Cannabis products work medically too i found. As usual need moderation, discretion: like with all matters.

Great report! Took a few hours over days to read thoroughly. The maps, the personal details (coffee snobbery), switching engines, great photos of landscape, cabin interiors, butter chicken (north Ontario-style) and of course Golden Eagle, etc.... Kinda felt like reading fishing magazine back in early 80's. Awesome, you are lucky to fulfill and share your passions. Forgot to add liked the use of musky spinnerbait, DepthRaider, etc -
The link i provided doesn't seem to work, but it clearly states that Pike and Tiger Muskellunge were NETTED by MNR staff during creel surveys around 2006. "Routine index netting and creel surveys have collected specimens of northern pike and tiger muskellunge (pike-muskellunge hybrids) on Pigeon Lake" It took about 20 yrs. for pike and tigers to entrench on Balsam. Good news seems to be that the musky fishing still rocks on Balsam despite pike. Now Balsam gets tiger musky/ pike there as well. Methinks Pigeon musky will be alright as well as there is plenty of deeper water available for successful musky spawn.
-
Turned out to be 'probably not'. Now just need one win to tie the 10-0 record season start of the 1993-94 Doug Gilmour led Leafs.
-
My initial instinct was that fish came down a couple of locks from Cameron/Balsam. Did find record of MNR creel survey (obviously small sample) confirming they did catch both pike and tiger musky in Pigeon Lake a decade or so ago. Surely there are a few more of them now. MNR confirmation of pike, tiger-musky in Pigeon in first paragraph. file:///C:/Users/E.H/Downloads/264328.pdf Had place on north Pigeon for a few decades and caught, targeted hundreds of Musky. Always were 'clear' or slightly barred(depending on sun angle) . What struck me initially was the rounded lobes of dorsal, anal and caudal fin of first fish pictured in said report ie, suggesting tiger/pike. The final fish pictured in report has the sharply pointed dorsal, anal, caudal fins typical of musky. But whatever, at least attention has been drawn to a superb first outing on Pigeon by Tupelo.
