Having shot a moose, two Newfies began dragging it by the tail to their pick-up.. On the way they were stopped by a game warden. "Let me see your hunting licenses byes," he said. When he saw that everything was in order he asked if he could give them some advice. "Sure!" the hunters agreed. "Well byes, I think that you would be finding it a lot easier to be draggin dat moose by the horns and not the tail." "Aye, O.K. And tanks," said the lads. After about five minutes one said to the other, "Bye, draggin by the horns is sure some easier?" "Aye, you're right," said his friend, "but have you noticed that we are getting further away from the truck?" HH

I would like to welcome my buddy SKUNK to the board

Welcome to the board Skunk... with a handle like that, you must know long time member CCMT?! LOL Welcome! HH -
Despair leads to desperate people. My own personal feelings regarding the gun epidemic in the U.S. aside, I believe that if the various levels of governments had any concern for their citizens well being, beyond their financial contributions, we just might see less of these kinds of incidents. When poverty and a sense of despair take over anyone, some will become disillusioned and some will move to violence. I truly think our friends to the south have bigger issues to deal with then gun control. Gun violence is only a symptom of many other ills. HH PS… I am not slamming the U.S. and I am not saying that we in Canada are better… just my humble opinion…

Frog migration = Pickereye in the shallows at night... oh my! HH

Cliff, perhaps consider a differnet solution... a "BFD". For those not familiar with a BFD, it has four legs and a mouth full of teeth and is usually a willing fishing partner! I get telemarketers calling the house all the time. They try to sell me security systems and I always say that I have one already... my BFD. Tends to shut them down pretty quick... Just a suggestion! Weekend At Bernie's - Sept 13 Edition
Headhunter replied to Headhunter's topic in General Discussion
A great time as always Lew... and yah, O'Brien would have been shaking in his boots seeing that beasty! LOL HH -
Well, another weekend at Bernie's has come and gone. For those of you who don't know, Bernie has invited a group of us up to his place on Nipissing for the past number of years. These trips happen three times a year, with the spring trip coinciding with the season opener, a late summer trip after Labour Day and a hard water trip, usually in February. The usual cast of characters (with some unable to attend) met up a CCMT's place in Whitby. Myself, CCMT, FishnSled and "small talkin guy" were on the road north by 9:30am, Friday morning. When you have done this trip as many times as we have, you tend to develop some habits... A stop at Timmies in Beaverton and a stop in Powasson at a little place called "Kudos" for some lunch before we meet up with Bernie at his shop in Powasson. We were un-loaded and sipping a beverage by 3:00pm on Friday afternoon. After some discussion, it was decided that we would forgo dinner early, for an opportunity to fish "magic hour", so off we went. Well, it didn't take too long for us to reach our "limit" with Pickereyes... we found them on the same "hump" as we did last February... limits reached by all within an hour and a half of fishing! Unfortunately, all the Pickereyes caught were small, but appreciated. Saturday morning arrived and we were back out at the crack of 9:30am! Again, the smallish Pickereyes were cooperative and we all managed to put fish in the boat. The weather Saturday was not the best, wind, misty rain etc, but we made the best of it. After some lunch, CCMT, FnS and Small talker headed out for some mutli-species fishing, while Bernie and I stored up our energy, for our fish later in the afternoon. Around 4:00pm we decided to hit the lake again as the weather had cleared, so off we went! Two casts for Bernie, and he has his limit! Again, I don't think we were out for longer than an hour and a half, before we had our 4 fish total! As usual, the laughs were many, the food was great and Bernie's hospitality, second to none! Many thanks again Bernie, for allowing this group of "rectums" to join you at your little piece of paradise! The other guys have pics, so I assume they will add to this thread, when they see it! Now, the long wait until February for our next gathering. HH Edit to add... Apparently one member of the group who went out Saturday afternoon, had what was described as a world record Musky boatside, only to have the "net guy" flub the scoop. I won't names names Cliff, but I would perhaps suggest that it might be time well spent, for a few of us to take a tutorial on netting techiques. Just sayin! LMAO

Almost all of us were new here at some time or other. I recall when I first joined, I felt like an outsider and was initially mocked. Thinking back, I probabaly deserved it! Consider the position of long time members and the never ending influx of "new members" all trying to make an impression or share knowledge. How many times has a long standing member given out info to a newbie only to have that come back and haunt them? I've seen it many times. So, here's a little secret for you newer members on how to become one of the "old boys"... GET OUT THERE AND MEET FOLKS FROM THE BOARD. It's really that simple. I attended two gtg's early in my time here. At the first gathering, I met one guy here that I have fished with ever since and he has become one of my best friends since. My second GTG was at a fishing for Tyler event. I met pretty much all of the "boys club" there and as a result, was invited to personal cottages and future fishing trips. Why, because I was no longer a faceless name on an internet board. That's really all it takes! So, get off the keyboard, get yerself out there, meet some folks and grow your fishing network. Carping about your own lack of effort to make things happen will likely fall on deaf ears... HH

Off tomorrow for yet another edition of "Weekend at Bernie"s" ... watch out Pickereyes, here we come!

Or roughly 15 3/4 inches to 23 3/4 inches in good ole Imperial! (give or take a bit!) HH

Some perdy fish there! That looks like alot of fun! Thanks for posting. HH

Also, don't forget that the limit has changed for Pickereyes... make sure theyt check the regs before keeping fish... HH

From what I can tell, Kadri should just shut up, sign a deal for two years and play. He will have the team by the short and curlys in two years, if he performs at the expected level. That's when the sun will shine for him and he will make alot of hay... I just don't get the short sightedness. HH

My parents took many weekend get aways to the LAke in the 80's. They loved to fish that lake and concentrated on Perch. Many a feed of perch from that lake. Too bad it has worked out that way... hopefully mother nature finds a way to reclaim the lake. Thanks for the post. HH

I have a Panasonic Plasma TV in 46in scale. It's been a great tv, no issues, no problems. With all that said, the only complaint I have with the plasma is that it generates a great deal of heat. Now that's fine in the cooler months, helps to keep the TV room warm, but in the warmer months, you can sure feel the heat coming off that screen, even with the A/C on. I also have to believe that plasma is much less efficient then other systems. HH

Very nice Bernie... when do we leave?! LOL HH

Since Erie is chalk full of fish that size, it is normal to catch them that big. Also, unlike many other bodies of water, Lake Erie Pickereyes taste great in that size range as well. I agree that in most bosies of water, biggins get put back... Erie is an acception to the rule. HH Edit to add.... NICE CATCH!!!! Tummy is growling already!
