  1. New Black Sabbath.... light listening for a Monday morning... HH
  2. Sweet kitties there BBR! Thanks for posting... gotta be a fun fight for sure!!! HH
  3. Most of us can't relate to the nasty things people do to other people in places we don't really know, or come from for that matter. Most of us on this board can realte to the folks in Boston and some have friends and family there. Once again, our collective sense of security and safety has be compromised and people are expressing their shock and grief. Seems these days, every day is a bad day for the innocent... HH
  4. Thanks for the info on the blues Crosshairs... I was aware of the past decline, but was not aware how it came to be. Regardless of who did it, obviously netting can be argued to be the culprit. I can't speak to past mis-deeds, I had nothing to do with it. Do I in any way support what has been done in the past, nope... but I am also not willing to take the blame either. Current generations can't be held accountable for the actions of the past... that's just chasing your tail. Your tongue and cheek suggestion that NFN start up their own outfitting businesses is actually IMHO a very good idea. And you are right, there is way more money in outfitting, accomadations, restaurants etc, then there is in netting, processing and selling fish. A state of the art hotel, casino if needed and outfitting business I would think could thrive, especially with our friends south of the border, should the fishing opportunities be worth it to our American friends. Under current conditions, not worth the energy, much less the $$$. HH
  5. I've had a lot of grief with Jiggin Raps... they are a go to lure for me through the ice. For what ever reason, it seems that I only get a day or two out with them, before that clear plastic tail falls off. I have a wonderful collection of tailless Raps, here at home. I did call Rapala and spoke to a customer sevice rep who told me that my problem is definately "not a common problem and that I should send in the busted baits. Honestly, I have not done so, but I sure would like to get more than one or two trips out of a seven or eight dollar bait. HH
  6. The perps will be treated as terrorists, like the Oklahoma bombers... once found guilty, they will be executed. If they can find Bin Laden in a poop hole in Pakistan, they'll find the scum that did this crime. Sooner or later, they will get their man. I'll keep my thoughts on a suitable punishment to myself... HH
  7. As much as it makes me have internal convulsions, I have to agree with biguli on this... unfortunately that would mean that we are destined to repeat ills of the past... Anyone remember why/how the Lake’s Blue Pickeral became close to extinct? HH On a side note, I am thinking about booking a trip to Europe to discuss with the folks who live there, how the land they are on is actually part of my heritage and therefore not theirs! Only REAL difference being I don't have a stained, torn and faded agreement in my back pocket! LOL
  8. LOL... that was a "hey watch this" moment for sure! HH
  9. It's human nature to not hold dear, that which is un-earned. One could argue that mis-mangement has extrapolated a problem, but then labels would be given to those who speak... On a side note, I wonder how the M.E.C. type folks are going to react when knowledge of this becomes more wide spread? I bet they won't like the Algonquin Casino and Resort very much... HH
  10. We keep hearing and reading about First Nations rights.. they have the right to_________, well you fill in the blank. Why would anyone believe that the Algonquins would be any different then any other First Nations group, when it comes to "enjoying their rights"? Whether those rights include netting the lakes, mining or forrestry, why or why would they be any different? I have to agree with some of the above posters... history has shown us the First Nations people are no better than anyone else at managing resources... including the resources they receive by way of government payments. Don't agree, take a drive by ANY first nations reserve... bring a garbage bag! HH
  11. Yah, I can see it now... welcome to Algonquin Park, unfortunately several of our other demands are not being met by various levels of governement, so, the park is closed until we get what we want... and everyone knows how quickly the feds work with regard to first nations! LOL HH
  12. So, I think I have this right though I am sure that someone here will correct me if I am wrong!LOL So, ultimately we will either have the status quote, where the Ontario Government continues to run the park or we will have First Nations running the park. Myself, as much as I have little to no respect for our elected officials, atleast we can vote them out of office... same can't be said for First Nations. The devil you know, vs the devil you don't. HH
  13. Don't worry too much about this guys... we can always fish Algonquin Park or Quinte! HH
  14. Again, a hearty thanks to all who replied here... I have a company coming by on Monday... HH
  15. Thanks again to all who have taken the time to answer... much appreciated. HH
  16. I can't see it being bad here, just one Km from the big lake. Ground's gotta be frozen for any accumulation... that said, if the freezing rain actually materializes, that could make things interesting... HH
  17. A "Grope Her" I think... HH
  18. Looks like she has a built in rod holder as well... HH
  19. Thanks for that Lunkerhunter! FnS... you are already way too busy getting the boat/trailor ready! HH
  20. Thanks to all who chimed in... so, the verdict among the members here is that it's worth it? Anyone got an idea on what kind of pricing is attached to this service? Anyone recommend a company that "does it right"? Thanks again all! Dan, if I did that, it would not be a pretty sight! HH
  21. Hey folks, Hoping to solicit some info from those in the know. The "Warden" has been all over me lately wanting me to get our duct work cleaned. I know that it has not been done, since I bought the house, 6 years ago. I read an article in the Toronto Star yesterday, that got me wondering if this effort is a waste of time or not. They indicated only those who are having "issues" should consider getting the work done. Can anyone provide me with first hand experience, the + and - as well as an idea what costs are fair for this work. Any and all insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks all! HH
  22. That's a great Altantic you guys got there! I hope that I can take advantage of the invite next time... I'll blindfold myself so as to not give away that secret spot! If I can't see the road in, I can't tell anyone else! HH
