As always Wayne, you are to generous! I called a couple of repair places yesterday and from whatI have learned, only authorized Eskimo dealers/repair facilities, can get parts from Eskimo. That really sucks, butI will wait until Monday to find out directly from Eskimo, what my options are. Again, thanks for the offer... I'll update this thread later... HH

That's a rule that I usually follow as well... but I must say that in the past, she has done a magnificant job of buying the right thing. She has bought me; -Mustang Bomber jacket I have worn for 20 years! -Bouy o Boy bibs that are still in great shape -my last pair of ice fishing boots... they are in great shape, except for the cracks in the rubber from aging... Yah, in many respects, I'm lucky! HH

Well, she bought me new ice fishing boots as well and they are going back! I'm lucky, she doesn't mind me taking things back as long as at the end of it all, I'm happy! Maybe I should have got the insultated garage door! HH

Pretty sure it's a seal Brian. I can't see any crack, mainly because it's all covered in grease! It's coming out of the bottom of the gear box, right where the blade inserts into the gear box. I thought of Cliff as well, but that's a little too far into Durham, if I can avoid it. HH

Hey folks, With brand spanking new float coat in hand, I now have to eliminate a problem with my auger, before I destroy my new coat. I have a three year old Eskimo Mako 43 Viper 8 in auger. It has worked well, ok, the engine/motor run very well, but the gear box at the bottom, is leaking grease. It happened a couple of years ago, when FishnSled and I decided to hit Lady Simcoe on a day with -28C temps. The auger fired up ok, but I think the grease in the gear case froze, because I had to help get the blade going, by hand before it would turn on it's own. Ever since then, it sends grease flying whenever I use it... suffice to say, my old float jacket looks like it has been run over by a very old truck, many times! As it is out of warranty, I'm just lookin for a shop that would get me back to just cutting ice, instead of a grease shower. I live in East Toronto, near the Pickering border... I prefer to go to Durham, if I can! (I would have called Eskimo, but they are eatin Turkey today!) HH

Can't say as I blame her Wayne! Thanks for that Brian. To be honest, I had never heard of them before, but it does look like it's really well made... the pocket thing is buggin me though... HH

Hey all, My generous wife bought me a Salus float jacket for my birthday. It seems like a good quality jacket to me, but I have no experience with Salus... I have many years of Mustang and Bouy o Boy experience, both have served me well, but after 20 years, my Mustang Bomber jacket is lookin pretty nasty and the foam floatation has moved all over the place!. I have some time to decide if I want to keep the coat or return it. Hoping to get some opinions from folks who have this product. So far, as said, it seems nice... my only complaint would be a lack of pockets both inside and outside the coat. Please feel free to comment with your experiences... much appreciated! HH

Took the dog out for a walk with 8 minutes left in the third... figured I wasn't going to miss any Leaf push and the walk might be good for my blood pressure. I was wrong. HH

So, Rogers/Bell took over ownership of the Leafs and the first thing they did was fire Brian Burke... too rough around the edges and not the kind of personality they wanted in their fold. I simply can't see the folks at Rogers wanting to deal with Cherry when he has one of his "tense moments". Hockey over the air, for free IS our Canadian tradition. It just happens to be called Hockey Night in Canada. What about the folks who don't have cable/sat and rely on antennaes to watch the game. Oh, never mind, those folks aren't Rogers customers so who cares? And anyone who thinks that this won't affect the CBC, is dreaming. A huge portion of CBC's revenue stream comes from HNIC. Without that revenue, the only content that CBC will be able to afford will be "Who's who in the Hinterland". Yesterday's decision will have long standing effects on the way we watch TV, not just sports. HH

Depending on how much sonw they got down there, the ferry launch could be toast. The plows usually push the snow right into the lauch area at the ferry, blocking access. Just a word to the wise. HH

That's an interesting video. With recent events in mind, I have to wonder if that Lund would remain afloat if there were no holes drilled anywhere, but they filled the boat with water. I'd like to see that video. HH

The Stud............. Two priests died at the same time and met Saint Peter at the Pearly Gates. St. Peter said, "I'd like to get you guys in now, but our computer's down. You will have to go back to Earth for about a week, but you can't go back as priests. What'll it be?" The second priest mulls this over for a moment and asks, "Will any of this week 'count' St. Peter?" " "No I told you the computer's down, There's no way we can keep track of what you are doing." "In that case" says the second priest, "I've always wanted to be a stud." "So be it" says St. Peter, and the second priest disappears. A week goes by, the Holy computer is fixed, and the Lord tells St. Peter to recall the two priests. "Will you have any trouble locating them?" he asks. "The first one should be easy," says St. Peter, "He's somewhere over the Rockies in Alberta , flying with the eagles. But the second one could prove to be more difficult." Not a launch I would consider with 50K west winds... HH

There is a launch on the south side of the Telegraph narrows bridge. It may be nasty for a short time in west winds and you will have to run around Forresters Island, which would be pretty rough, but once past Forresters, Long Reach would be relatively easy to fish... relatively! There's also the launch at Deseronto, but I would bet that launch would be problematic with a west wind gaining strength all the way from Big Bay, through Telegragh Narrows. HH Edit: Telegraph launch is on the south side just as you get over the bridge.

I think it is minimal as far a charges are concerned... drop box near the launch. Parking, especially this time of year is the challenge. Don't, I repeat don't park in the hotel parking lot as folks have been getting tickets... it's private property. You might have to do some walking to get a safe place to park. We were up last weekend. Mid week last week, our trip looked like a write off based on the forecast for pretty high winds. Well, I'm glad we didn't take too much notice as Saturday turned out to be a great day on the water. Moral of the story, don't let the weather man mess with your plans! HH

And Long Reach... launch at Picton Harbour, run up the west side of Picton Bay and that should keep you out of the wind. Some fish were caught on Long Reach this past weekend. HH

Thanks for the the report SD... we were there on the weekend and launched a little later Saturday morning, knowing the tourney would make the launch crazy. Hindsight says we should have entered the tourney as one of our boats pulled a PB on Saturday... that would have won that tourney fairly easily. I expect a report will be put up in the near future. I have been a supporter of Robby since he took office. The best reason I could come up with was the fact that he has always been the exact opposite of the typical elected official in this city and more specifically, our former mayor. I will admit that it has given me a great deal of pleasure to watch some of Robby's council opponents squirm under Robbies leadership. Yah, I can be that way. With all that said, the events of the last few days have brought me to realize that Robby has to go. I can usually forgive a few indescretions, but Robby has now blown the doors off a few and turned it into a freak show. Hopefully by this time next year, an individual will make themselves known, who can and will, champion the interest of those who lean to the right. Time to go Robby.... HH

My brother broke his leg in a similar fashion about 15 years ago... he was playing defence and fighting another guy to get the puck as it was heading toward the boards. Both guys went down a few feet from the boards. My brother's leg flew out from under him and his foot hit the boards... snap! Tibea (SP) snapped. He went to get up, but his foot just dangled there... that's when he knew he was in trouble. The human leg is designed to carry weight vertically, not designed to handle horizontal stress. It was pure agony for quite a number of months... it didn't help that he had a newborn at home at the time. We now call him "frankenlegin" as he has scars up both sides of his leg, where they put steet support rods to hold his leg together. Yes, he's playing hockey, skiing etc... but it was well into a year before he could get back to work and few more before he played hockey again. HH
