re the threads on all the salmon river fishing
Headhunter replied to aniceguy's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for posting that link Raf... it was a very interesting read. HH -
Being the simple minded fool that I am, the only difference I see in catchin a trout in November, vs catchin a Salmon in September is that you will have most of the river/stream for your self! Otherwise, these a fish that are trying to do mother natures work, just a different times of the year! I find it interesting that the trout guys say salmon don't bite when they are in rivers or streams, yet I see reports daily, that people are catching them... legally! A trout is a fish and it has no more value than a rock bass or a musky for that matter. It's just a fish! I guess that if I wasn't so simple, I'd give up on this! LOL HH

Interesting response given the pic in your avatar... certainly doesn't look like that Steelie (Non native fish) was caught 15 miles out on Lake O or Huron... What exactly is it that makes it ok to fish Trout in streams and not Salmon? I'm sure that trout, a beauty by the way, was just minding it's own business, lookin for a female to do it's business with and the next thing it knows, it's "feelings" are being ruffled! I guess I just don't get it! HH

Ethics are personal and subjective... that's why I mentioned the regs. Some peoples "ethics" would not allow them to wet a line... ever! It's a non-native species that's about to die and is only there as a result of human efforts. If other peoples ethics got in the way every time I sat down at the dinner table... I'd be munchin on Tofu 7 days a week! Is it any more ethical to chase a Steelie in a creek in November? Pull a Brownie out of a hole in December? I don't get the difference! HH

I honestly find it hard to believe that folks are giving you a hard time for fishin Salmon that are hours from dying! It's obvious that the folks who went out with him had a desire to catch fish and for some, I'm guessing it's their first kick at chasing "spotted carp"! As long as it's legal, go for it! I just don't get why all the "spotted capr guys get their knikkers in a knot about fishin well within the regs. Don't like it... talk to the MNR! HH

TILLER! HH

I believe that we have a trophy fishery that we must all enjoy, before we hit the ice... it's called Quinte and I'd prefer to not fish it through the ice! Please don't wish the best time of year to fish away!!! HH
-
Hey guys... I asked first!LOL HH

The Green on is a Luhr Jensson (sp) Power Dive... apparently they don't make them any more... if you don't want it, I'll take it to Quinte with me this fall and show you how it really is!!! LOL If you can find a yellowish one, they are a great bait for fall Picker-eyes! The red one looks like a Bagley. (sp) HH

I have a 6ft 6in Quantum on piece that I use for just about any application it's suitable for... you could pick one up for under $100.00 and I believe that Gagnons sells them. I only mention Gagnons as I know they are close to your home. HH

It is not unusual for Alex to spend a week or two in the studio just doing a guitar solo! Not surprising that many find it very difficult to copy. HH

Really enjoyed his work, especially the Canadian outdoors paintings, so much detail you would think your looking at a photo... would love to own one, but I think priced out of my range... condolences to his family! HH

Ok... here's how you beat this system... if your buying say a book that cost $39.00 CAD and is marked $29.00 US, simply go to the bank or a money exchange place, change your CAD to U.S. and buy the book using U.S. dollars! Problem solved! HH

How long before Bass Pro Make at Par Pricing?
Headhunter replied to jedimaster's topic in General Discussion
Watching the news last night, a reporter was speaking to a General Manager at a large car dealership and asked him when we could expect to see prices drop for new vehicles? The GM suggested that we probably won't. Asked why prices are that much higher in Canada, vs the U.S., his response was that Canadians are "accustomed to paying more and will continue to do so until they decide not to! I appreciated his honesty, but not necessisarily his answer! HH -
Wow... some really nice foot balls there! Congrats on what appears to be a great year! Sweet pics! HH

That set-up is just fine Cliff... I wouldn't change a thing, ok, I'd have chosen the Sealine over the Okuma but... you should be just fine. HH

Forgot to mention in the original posting... spent some time last night before I left the house lookin for my flash light. Well, since we've moved into this house, I have difficulty finding almost anything!LOL Anyway, decided to stop off at CTC on the way and pick up a new one. Picked the floating one as I thought, well, if I mistakenly kick it into the water, no problem. Well, put the battery in it, tried it out, workin fine... yes... my CLeo will glow like a satisfied woman! Used the light to walk out onto the pier, charged my cleo, set the light gently down on the rock and started casting. About 5 casts later, I figure it's time for a re-charge. Nothin, nada, zippo... no light. Set my rod down, take the light apart and back together again... about 10 times... nothin! Well I'm pretty sure the dang thing floats... and since I bought the bright yellow one... does anyone need a channel marker or rock marker! Dang! HH
