  1. As I have said to you personally, your strength is remarkable. You were one of the first to try and connect with me last week during my family's time of tragedy. Unfortunately, I was not around at the time to be there for you. Thanks for reminding us how important times with family and friends really is and I will give my kids an extra hug tonight when I get home. G, give Liam an extra hug tonight, you are a very special person. HH
  2. Drove through Picton a couple of weeks ago and it sure looked like the Tip of the Bay was open and doing a brisk business. Perhaps those who need a place could look into it. They have docks for their customers right outside the hotel and are reasonably priced. HH
  3. Next time out, try starting in 380 ft of water and heading deeper. Most action I've seen this year has been in the 380 to 420ft of water... approx 14 to 15 miles out. Hope this helps. HH
  4. Just wanted to drop this note and say thank you to all for your support to me and my family during this difficult time. I've shown many members of my family this thread and I must say that we are all over-whelmed by your kindness and show of support. It's to say the least a very confusing, challenging and emotional time for us, but we have gathered strength through your support and the support of others. Love the ones your with, give'm a hugg when they don't know why and cherish your time together... life has a nasty way of mess'n with your plans. HH
  5. Thanks to all for your kind words and best wishes. This has really hit our family hard and I suspect that it's going to really come to a head on Saturday at the memorial service. I'm amazed a the number of people who's lives were touch by my Dad. It's quite overwhelming actually. Gary, yes the accident that has been in the papers and TV, here in Southern Ontarion was indeed my Dad. It was a freak thing and it happened so quickly, thank goodness, but it's still very difficult to accept right now. To those who sent me PM's, your kindness is overwhelming. HH
  6. Found out yesterday that my Dad was killed when his tracker flipped over on him, while bringing in wood from his forrest. I'm heading to London very shortly to be with family and will not be on the board for a bit. I do want to write up the story of his life and how he affected me and taught me so many things, I just can't do it right now. Stay well and love the one's your with... they go so fast. HH
  7. Roy, that video has the entire office laughing out loud! Thanks! HH
  8. Thanks Hooknrelease... your experience is similar to mine as far as techniques are concerned. Glad to hear they are still out there! Hopefully I can get it together and get out again on Sunday. Thanks again! HH PS... we did well with Lead Core; ten colours in the water off of an in-line planer board.
  9. Working towards some plans for the coming turkey weekend, with an eye to heading out into vast depths of Lake O. I've fished it in August as well as September with some success. My question is as follows, Do the hoards of Steelies and Coho that are out there all summer stay out there in the fall or would we see them begin to move in closer to shore. Ideally, I'd rather not burn the gas to get out 15 miles to find that the fishery tails off in the fall. I'm certainly not lookin for guarantees, just anyone who has been out there at this time of year and their thoughts on it! Your thoughts are appreciated. HH
  10. You may end up with insurance issues as well, if you over-power the boats recommended rating. HH
  11. Well said, I think you hit the heart of the matter and a very viable potential solution. Sign me up! HH
  12. A man took his wife to the rodeo and one of the first exhibits they stopped at was the breeding bulls. They went up to the first pen and there was a sign attached that said, "This bull mated 50 times last year." The wife playfully nudged her husband in the ribs and said,"He mated 50 times last year." They walked to the second pen which had a sign attached that said, "This bull mated 120 times last year." The wife gave her husband a healthy jab and said, "That's more than twice a week! You could learn a lot from him." They walked to the third pen and it had a sign attached that said, in capital letters, "This bull mated 365 times last year." The wife, so excited that her elbow nearly broke husband's ribs, said, "That's once a day. You could REALLY learn something from this one." The husband looked at her and said, "Go over and ask him if it was with the same cow." UPDATE: The husband's condition has been upgraded from 'critical' to 'stable' and he should eventually make a full recovery. HH
  13. Unfortunately, my feelings are that this will not stop, but only continue to get worse, until something drastic takes place. By drastic, I mean someone really getting hurt or, god forbid, someone gets killed. As a society, it appears we have to be pushed to the extreme, before we actually become pro-active and do something about it. It saddens me that some peoples first impressions of fishing in this province, could be tarnished in this way. I hope I'm wrong, but I suspect in the long run, I will be right. HH
  14. I can't see how adding more "piggy's" to the already over stuffed trough will help anyone other then politicians! We already have to pay them, plus their pensions (that are indexed to inflation) forever and a day... just another money grab from the folks accustomed to eating up all OUR money! HH
  15. Hey Tybo... been running lead core off of in-line boards for a while now... 10 colours, no problem as long as you have the following; - for Off Shore boards, be sure to change the clips to the snap down locking kind -Mr. Walleye boards do not require a clip change... they work great right out of box. HH
  16. Thanks for posting that link Raf... it was a very interesting read. HH
  17. Being the simple minded fool that I am, the only difference I see in catchin a trout in November, vs catchin a Salmon in September is that you will have most of the river/stream for your self! Otherwise, these a fish that are trying to do mother natures work, just a different times of the year! I find it interesting that the trout guys say salmon don't bite when they are in rivers or streams, yet I see reports daily, that people are catching them... legally! A trout is a fish and it has no more value than a rock bass or a musky for that matter. It's just a fish! I guess that if I wasn't so simple, I'd give up on this! LOL HH
  18. Interesting response given the pic in your avatar... certainly doesn't look like that Steelie (Non native fish) was caught 15 miles out on Lake O or Huron... What exactly is it that makes it ok to fish Trout in streams and not Salmon? I'm sure that trout, a beauty by the way, was just minding it's own business, lookin for a female to do it's business with and the next thing it knows, it's "feelings" are being ruffled! I guess I just don't get it! HH
  19. Ethics are personal and subjective... that's why I mentioned the regs. Some peoples "ethics" would not allow them to wet a line... ever! It's a non-native species that's about to die and is only there as a result of human efforts. If other peoples ethics got in the way every time I sat down at the dinner table... I'd be munchin on Tofu 7 days a week! Is it any more ethical to chase a Steelie in a creek in November? Pull a Brownie out of a hole in December? I don't get the difference! HH
  20. I honestly find it hard to believe that folks are giving you a hard time for fishin Salmon that are hours from dying! It's obvious that the folks who went out with him had a desire to catch fish and for some, I'm guessing it's their first kick at chasing "spotted carp"! As long as it's legal, go for it! I just don't get why all the "spotted capr guys get their knikkers in a knot about fishin well within the regs. Don't like it... talk to the MNR! HH
  21. TILLER! HH
  22. I believe that we have a trophy fishery that we must all enjoy, before we hit the ice... it's called Quinte and I'd prefer to not fish it through the ice! Please don't wish the best time of year to fish away!!! HH
  23. Hey guys... I asked first!LOL HH
  24. The Green on is a Luhr Jensson (sp) Power Dive... apparently they don't make them any more... if you don't want it, I'll take it to Quinte with me this fall and show you how it really is!!! LOL If you can find a yellowish one, they are a great bait for fall Picker-eyes! The red one looks like a Bagley. (sp) HH
  25. I have a 6ft 6in Quantum on piece that I use for just about any application it's suitable for... you could pick one up for under $100.00 and I believe that Gagnons sells them. I only mention Gagnons as I know they are close to your home. HH
