  1. A swastika in black magic marker across you forehead will get you off most times! In all seriousness, if you are self employed, you can be excused as you are the sole earner of the company and the court does not want to put you into bankruptcy to perform you civic duty. HH
  2. Different location, but last Thursday, I saw a guy on a quad, pulling an ice hut across Weller Bay in Trenton. Thought he was a little nuts, but he seemed to know where he was going! Didn't see a splash as he tore off, out of site! HH
  3. A fantastic report as usual! Thanks for taking the time... always enjoy your pics and info! HH
  4. Regardless of what others may have said, Offshore boards are far more flexible than Churches and if you follow Fang's advice, you'll never regret your choice. I have both types and will always grab the Offshores before the Churches. Just remember if your trolling in this kind of weather, to fold the flag down as water accumulating on the flag will freeze and drag the board down. As far as tattle flags are concerned, you won't need them for trout or salmon as they just about rip the board off the line! Tattles are great for spring fishin, using smaller baits and catching smaller fish. If you know how to fish boards, you'll really not need tattles unless your fishin in the spring. HH
  5. The Tundras are also having problems with the transom cracking... huge horsepower + lunatic behind the wheel = trouble! HH
  6. Perhaps he just got the bill from hius credit card for the gas he spent getting to the Quinte GTG! I know that would make my stomach turn! Get well soon... there are Crappie waiting for yah! HH
  7. Also, forgot to mention this, but as we were driving home yesterday, we watched some what amazed, as a guy on a quad, puilling and ice hut, ripped across Weller's Bay! Slightly braver than me, that's for sure! HH PS... too bad you couldn't make it FnS... definately could have used an extra pair of hands clearing that ramp!
  8. Took what was for me anyway, my last kick at Quinte today. Arrived at the ferry at 7:00am to give the launch there a go as Picton Bay is frozen almost all the way out to the cement plant, McFarlin's Conservation area is snowed in and blocked by shore ice... . Lauch is open at the ferry, however about 50 to 100ft of shore ice extends out just east of the launch. West winds were breaking that ice up and shoving it into the launch. Bring a spud and some good luck if your planning on using that launch and personally, I wouldn't recommend it in a glass boat! We ended up launching else-where after two hours of digging snow and ice to clear the ramp and finnaly we were on the water by 10:30am. Decided to try the open are in front of the cement plant and the flat from the cement plant to the ferry. First and only fish of the day for us came at around 1:00pm, a nine pounder that really gave a good account of itself. Had unfortunately, neglected to put my camera inside my float suit and it simply would not work, being as cold as it was. Did put my camera in my suit after releasing the fish but we were not fortunate enough to get another opportunity to use it again. We did run into some friends who were also out today, they fished the Adolphus Reach area and got three including at 14 that I saw them taking pics of. What a monster! They are having it mounted so, what's a guy to say... nothin! We marked most of our fish near the ferry and beyond into the Reach. Actually, the graph was lookin pretty much like it did a few weeks back, big marks all over, if ya know what I mean. Got to the point I simply ignored the graph, it was either that, or start slamming my head into the gunnel! It was a tad brisk, but not too bad, but it seems to me that the days are numbered for open water fishin on the Q! HH PS... we did venture to the Bath launch as well, very shallow, but definately OPEN! A small aluminium and chest waders and you'd be good to go, if you don't mind too much water in front of your tow vehicle, when your launching!
  9. That's what I'm hoping NOT TO SEE on Thursday at the Q! At least your tried Wayne! HH
  10. Soya, Orange juice, white wine, garlic, salt, pepper. venison tenderloin in the fridge for two days, onto a hot grill for four minutes, some garlic mashed, and damn veg you want... pm me when it's ready! HH

  14. You know, after getting them snipped, you don't really feel that much any more so why not go out and get er done and save yourself future grief! They're still attached, just not a "vocal"! Were you sitting on a white bucket in your bed? HH
  15. Sorry for your loss Gary, a fitting tribute indeed. Best wishes to you and your family. HH
  16. Well, after reading that story, I have to admitt that I'm now REALLY lookin forward to my trip down to the Q on Thursday! NOTE TO SELF.... don't go anywhere near Merlands! LOL Sorry for your pain, but if it makes you feel any better, I believe that you have at a minimum, entertained all of us OFNers with your story! Thanks, HH
  17. Yup, just as Lew said it! I find myself having to restrain myself when I see the flashing lights in the background and people RACING to get AHEAD OF THEM! It's usually at that time that I hope it's their family member they are putting in jeopary vs some poor sap who needs emergency help! We live in a very me me me world and unfortunately it's only getting worse! HH
  18. Congrats Roger! She's a beauty and definately a keeper! HH
  19. If properly dressed, it can actually be alot of fun out there and one thing's for sure, there wouldn't be alot of boats out there either! I'm heading down on Thursday, weather be damned! HH
  20. That's what I thought as well Kemper... my brother is a tool and die maker, I bet he could put one together for me pretty easily, but I still can't figure out the high cost! Materials used seem to be pretty comon and if you have any skill with the right tools... I don't know! HH
  21. As a kid, I used to catch Suckers on the Thames during March break... came back to school all tanned from sitting on the river all week... people askin me where in Florida I spent March break!LOL Great lookin fish, fun to catch and even better way to get non-fishers interested as they came be easy to catch and a heck of a lot of fun! Thanks for bringing back some fond old memories! HH
  22. they are so expensive? Granted, I've never used one, but after looking at the earlier post regarding these reels, it seems to me that they are very straight forward and simple to make. Is there a reason they can be so expensive that I'm missing? Just lookin for your thoughts, not trying to stir any pots! HH
  23. I spotted two deer in my backyard back in October! I live in Scarborough and do have a ravine in my backyard, but was quite surprised to see them walking through the woods behind my house, in the middle of the day! Also, yesterday I was at my Dad's place, doing some estate business, he lived just outside of London, in a little town called Komoka. As I drove up to the house I spotted at least 12 wild turkeys wandering around the yard. They didn't even move when I got out of the car and likely, I would have been able to walk right up and pound them in the head with a baseball bat, should I have been inclined! LOL I have a pic I could post, if I had a clue how to post pics!LOL I'm a techno moron! HH Quick edit.... as the executor of the estate, I now have the sole rights to allow hunters permission to hunt the land.... and I am definitely NOT above being bribed! LOL
  24. My sincere sympathies to his family and friends and to you Steve, for your loss as well. HH
