  1. It's just the voices in yer head making you play this Joey!LOL! I believe that significant medication will relieve the symptoms! HH
  2. it really peeves me that other NATO nations are not stepping up in Afghanistan. Our leaders appear to be begging for help, or trying to embarrass member's leaders into adding support... I wonder what the future of NATO really is? To all the troops over there doing the right thing, I thank and salute you . I hope everyone arrives home safe and sound and please do know that the vast majority of us support you and your efforts. Thanks! HH
  3. That's pretty sound advice Landlocked! I've done that with some music gear that I have, but not with my fishin stuff... better charge up the batteries! HH
  4. Three squares and a roomy Joey... what else could a guy ask for!LOL ... oh, and I understand that Saturday is "hot dog day" LOL HH
  5. From the sounds of all the sirens running around down town, it sure seems like the wind is playing havoc out there to day! It's been non-stop sirens all morning down in the core! HH
  6. For all you world travelers out there, give this link a try and see if you really do know your way around the globe! http://www.minijuegosgratis.com/juegos/hwd....html?b415=0766 HH
  7. I've found that colour actually does make a significant difference. Been in a situation where we have two holes drilled, side by side, no more than two feet apart. The guy using the blue and chrome/silver jiggin Rap would out catch 3 to 1 the guy right beside him with a different colour. There are times when the Fire Tiger will out fish the blue and silver, but by in large, blue and silver kills 'em! I also second the suggestion re the camera... leave it on shore! You should be moving way too much to be bogged down with a camera, minnows, dead stick etc... I've found my best success comes from drilling many holes and working them until they don't net any results. If I don't get a bite in 2 minutes, next hole please! There is simply no reason to finesse perch, it's a numbers game. Also, start the day, if you manage to get out early, shallow and work your way deeper as the day progresses. I then fish the holes I made early in the day, on my way back in. HH
  8. I just walked past some of those land marks today! It looks like Yonge and Gerrard hasn't really changed that much! (except for the lack of homeless folks panhandling!) Neat pics and thanks for posting! HH
  9. I gotta agree with Cork Soaker... no live bait required and as the ice season grows older, those biggins convert so much body mass into roe, it just seems like a waste. Still a ton of fun though! HH
  10. Awesome pics Dude! I didn't know you could catch squid on a rod and reel... and then to show the pic of them babies grilling up on the BBQ... I think I need to be alone for a while! Great pics and welcome! PS... if you ever need help eatin those crabs ... I'd be willing to help ya out! HH
  11. That explains why Paul is always smilin! HH
  12. Sole is a very mild fish and can be prepared in many different ways. Perch are also very mild fish, but frying them is the best method. You may find soaking your fish in milk, in the fridge before preparing them, will remove alot of the fishyness. HH
  13. Chicken Paprikash This is an old Hungarian recipe which is essentially, Hungarian style stew. You can substitute stewing beef for chicken (veal is also quite nice) but by in large, most use this with chicken. (My personal favorite is the same recipe as below, with a pound of chicken livers added as well!) -one large onion - finely chopped -enough chicken to feed your crew - I prefer chicken on the bone = more flavour - cut into pieces -one large and ripe tomato -garlic! as it's my "birthstone" I put in more than most! - fresh and finely chopped -Paprika - 3-4 tablespoons -water or chicken stock, your choice -salt and pepper to taste -cayenne pepper to taste - 2 tablespoons of olive oil - lard works just as well! LOL (if you have access to smoked/dried Hungarian sausage "Chubai" , dice it and fry out the fat and substitute the sauasge fat for the olive oil. Those who like heat, get the hot Chubai! Jsut remove the cooked out sauasge before adding the paprika. You can always add the sausage back in , just before serving! Ok, here we go! -bring a large stewing pot up to heat. -add chopped onions and oil to the pot. stir the onions continuously until they go brown, DON'T LET THEM BURN! IT will taint the whole dish! -as soon as the onions are browned, add the paprika and take the pot off the stove... stirring the onion and paprika mix until the paprika starts to cook (you may need to put the pot back on the burner for a few seconds, just to keep the heat up. You'll know when it's cooked as the colour of the mixture will be dark brown. -remove the pot from heat, add the garlic, chicken pieces and tomato. -add the water/stock to only cover3/4 of the chicken... adding too much stock/water will dilute the sauce -add salt, pepper and cayenne (to taste) and bring pot to a boil -reduce heat to a low simmer for at least two hours -serve over rice, noodles or what ever you like! This recipe will most certainly stick to your ribs and keep yer innards warm. HH
  14. Wayne, you owe me a new key board and a cup of coffee! HH
  15. Ok... apparently I need to clarify some things here; - I have worked for an employment agency for the last 18 years! - I have manged teams of "Headhunters" for the past 12 years - I am relatively familiar with employment law! -my clients use me for many reasons, including staffing related concerns, industry trends, market analysis and some non-binding "legal" advice" As to the comment, there are no good agencies... well, I won't defend an entire industry, but there are like any businesses, the good and the bad. The best advice I can give anyone searching for a new/better job, is to ask yourself this question: If you were in a job interview and the interviewer asked you what you did for your current/former employer that made you stand out among your peers, how would you answer that question? If you can't, you need to re-evaluate what and how you do what you do! It's a global market and there are many folks who will beyond the call of duty for their employer... that's who you are competing with. Tony is absolutely correct... you must continue to grow yourself or the world will pass you by! They pay $8.00 /hr to folks who have been passed by! HH
  16. Actually, Bowman suggested that he would take the job, just not under the current ownership/team realtionship currently in place. Bowman's a great coach, can't argue that... but as a GM, he's failed... just look at Buffalo. HH
  17. Unfortunately, IMHO this will solve nothing. The wrong people have again, been fired. HH
  18. Is there such thing as a "good employment agency"? LOL People are funny! They really are so entrenched in their own world, they just don't get it when they are forced to enter the "real world". I think I need a bigger candle! HH
  19. Thanks everyone for your input and humour! I have been documenting this guy for three months. I am fully aware of government legislation with respect to wrongful dismissal etc... . On a personal level, I find his actions to be insulting, de-motivating to my other staff and just down right rude. The circumstances revolving around our office don't put me in a position to let him go at this time, however, I am on that path and expect it to happen sooner than later. I appreciate all the advice given here, most of it very sound. The reason I posted it in the first place was because his latest excuse bordered on the absurd! I just had to pass it along to you folks! UPDATE: I arrived at work 15 minutes early, as usual. No message that said employee was going to be late. At five to nine, I found a candle, light it up and put it on his desk, hoping that it would "burn off my negativity" toward his tardiness... waste of wax! He showed up 10 minutes late! I asked him why late today? His answer... wait for it... he fell twice on black ice on the way to work! Here's the bonus... he only lives two blocks from the office! I'll update you guys if we verge on the absurd again! HH
  20. Sorry to read about your pain Charlied... what ever you do, don't lose that work ethic... I know it doesn't seem like it right now, but it will serve you very well throughout your working career. Keep positive and the right opportunity will present itself. HH PS... I just got a subliminal message from Elvis... something about peanut butter and a tiller... no my mistake, he meant CONSOLE! HH
  21. Thanks Roy... I was receiving some subliminal messages from across the universe and I was about to blame TJ... changing my thought process as I type.... HH
  22. Well, I just got a phone call from Kreskin... he obviously has heard of my incredible skills! I have been documenting the guy for a while, trying to make a decision soon... oh, I gotta go, Steven Hawking is on the phone asking for advice! HH
  23. Ok, here's the background on this semi- rant! I have an employee who is constantly late, actually, it's easier to count the number of times he's on time vs late! Sometimes it's 5 minutes, some times it's 1/2 hour. Needless to say, his tardiness is really gettin to me. So this morning he arrives at work 35 minutes late... I've been fuming the whole time waiting for him. I suggested that it's easier to count the times he's on time, then late. Here's his response; "I think that your negative feeling about my arrival at work on time, has put me in a position to be late all the time". You should be thinking positively about me and I'm sure that this will help me to arrive to work on time or early"! Now, I know that I have one of the most powerful minds in the world, but I thought that even I had some limitations. Spock has been calling all morning asking for some up-grade psycho training! I went out for a smoke and the entire time, I envisioned him running full force into the office window and plummeting down the 25 floors into the Eaton Centre. I guess I need some more coffee as my mental conditioning was not powerful enough to induce such action!LOL I've had dozens of folks reporting to me over the years... but this is a first for me! Anyone have any similar stories they could pass along for some Monday morning humour? HH
  24. Does this sound like a simple money grab or what? What could they possibly say that would justify this? HH
  25. Lunate... Glad you found the humour in it all! HH
