The big difference Lew is that you could buy an RV for 30 points off MSRP a couple of years ago, now not so much. Now you have to make an appointment with a salesperson to essentially sign a contract...

Talked to a couple of financial guys and they are amazed at the RV market. Customers taking out loans for 40 and 50K trailers and 100k+ motorhomes on Lines of Credit. Hope I am wrong but I see a huge influx of 2 year old RVs on the market once this thing settles down.

We have been searching for a waterfront or on water site for months. There is little or no inventory. Anything that we found available was either in a run down park or in a park owned and manage by conglomerates and had extremely bad reviews. Many parks are kicking out long term residents and putting up rates through the roof. Some have started "add ons" like charging for golf carts, sheds, outside fridges and a popular one now is adding service charges to every item on the bill. It seems as though everyone has taken up camping in times of Covid in trailers, motorhomes etc. and this had created a crazy off season with everyone looking for the same thing. We are on lengthy wait lists on a few parks but hold little hope for 2021 and maybe 2022. We have decided to stay transient for this season however it is going to be tough to pull the trailer and the boat at the same time. Good luck and stay safe..

I remember a different type of fishing but the fun was just the same. Every day that I could skip school I was down by the river. Fishing for browns during the day and camped out all night catching eels. When winter came the grayling appeared and when the river was flooded I took the train to the coast (about 20 min) and fished cod off the beaches and piers. Fishing gear was expensive, at least for a teen. My total collection was a 10.5' glass rod (metal ferrules), a 5 weight 8' fly rod with cheap reel and a 12' glass surfcasting rod. I remember saving up to buy my first fixed spool reel a Mitchell 300. Used if for float fishing and bottom fishing. Acquired lots of expensive gear over the years but didn't really catch more fish. Just had to work harder for what I did catch..

My view on do's and don'ts is a little different. Everyone is looking for loopholes to carry on with their regular lives. We have a Federal government that tells us to stay home yet allows plane load after plane load to arrive at our airports simply telling those on board that they must self isolate? If those who choose to fly are that self entitled what makes us think that they will voluntarily quarantine? Since Jan 1 thirty (30) planes arrived in Canada with passengers that had Covid-19. We have a Provincial government that rather than doing what they should have done many months ago played the political two step and look where that has got us, a proverbial poop show! They now have declared a state of emergency with regulations that are unenforceable. It's a fact that Covid-19 does not get on a plane or in a car or on a snow machine. It needs a carrier, WE are the carrier. It did not enter nursing homes to infect our loved ones by osmosis, WE took it in getting infected elsewhere in the community. Let's be honest with ourselves, unless you get tested constantly, most of us have no idea if we are an asymptomatic carrier spreading Covid-19 wherever we go. It appears as though based on the current level of vaccination it will be a year before everyone is vaccinated. I guess STAY HOME is the one thing that WE can all do to help the cause. If WE don't move around it can't!

If people don't start to stay home and stop the community spread you ain't seen nothing yet!

Hi All, Does anyone have any current information on the condition of the lake, weed growth, recent fishing, lake traffic etc? I know that it has received lots of pressure in recent years from bass tournaments. How easy is it to access the rest of the Trent System?

They are simply awesome Brian! Now the biggest challenge is tying them on to your line! Try a pair of magnified readers or a monocle...lol.

In my teen years we caught them by the dozen in local rivers at night. Sadly, our lack of conservation knowledge back then and the fact that they were, and still are, a popular food source has dwindled their numbers down to endangered level. Their life cycle is very interesting and a good read, it takes more than 10 years for them to reach maturity.

Radial Arm saw is my preference. Maybe not as portable but way more versatile.

Now ya talkin'! #20's in that pattern was my go to, except tied on barbless spade hooks. They were a much finer gauge wire. In those days #16's were large hooks and 18's were average.

Market forces have always determined pricing for almost anything, whether it be real estate, vehicles, boats, rv's or simply most consumer goods. Buying a boat in this market is probably not the smartest financial decision you can make, but, supply and demand is what drives a market. Contrary to my better judgement I bought a boat in this market! However, it seems as though aluminum "fishing" boats are the ones are demanding crazy prices, less so glass boats. I sold an aluminum boat a few years ago for what I thought was a "fair" price. Today that boat will command thousands more, (market demand). Covid has essentially put a stop to peoples recreational travel plans causing them to rethink their type of vacation, I know it has ours in retirement. In our first full year of retirement we had lots of travel booked that didn't happen. Instead, we decided to make the best of it and pulled the trailer to many different campgrounds. We figured that maybe we would try a year of seasonal camping in 2021 where we could also dock the boat, good luck! Nothing now available anywhere! I guess that things will re-adjust, maybe, in the next 12-24 months. It may be a scary time if and when it does.
