Kudo's Lew, I would have done the same thing. Too bad some of us think in such a shallow manner. Wish it had turned out better, but you can gain some solice from the fact that your actions made sure that its' suffering was much reduced......

Unfortunately I will be coming up on my own this year, so if anyone has a spot in a cottage and or a boat I would be more than pleased to pay my way. Please send me a message. Thanks, John...

Many of us can attest to that............

You know, I don't get to fish anywhere near as much as I would like as work keeps me travelling. So, I have not invested in a boat just to have it sit in the garage. The benefit of not owning a boat, at least for me, is getting to scrounge rides from some of the great people that make up this OFC world of ours. I have fished with quite a number of OFC'rs and have not found one, (maybe with the exception of the pink tu-tu guy), that I would not fish with again given the opportunity. We all have quirks, ideosyncracies and god forbid personalities. Don't judge us by our covers, you will miss out on some great times. By the way, I need a ride at Lakair this year................... Don't think that I would be comfortable with 8" of ice especially as there will be many spots with much less!

Great news Glen, I'm sure that she will do just fine. She is a lucky dog who has a great life ahead with someone a caring as you. Have a great holiday... John

I started to write a reply to this when I read Marc's post. In essence, it was very similar to what I had in mind except it comes from someone who is a professional and is respected in the industry. The only thing that I can add is get as much education as you can. Then choose a career path that you truly love and can't wait to get up in the morning and get on with it. The education will serve you well in anything you do.

I usually walk the dog early (ish) AM and last winter had one run down the middle of the road in front of us. Looked pretty bad (mange). I live Guelph line and Lakeshore area in Burlington.

"Hello, is this the Sheriff's office?" "Yes. What can I do for you?" "I'm calling to report 'bout my neighbor Virgil Smith. He's hidin' marijuana inside his firewood! Don't quite know how he gets it inside them logs, but he's hidin' it there" "Thank you very much for the call sir." The next day, the Sheriff's deputies descend on Virgil's house. They searched the shed where the firewood is kept. Using axes, they bust open every piece of wood, but found no marijuana. They sneer at Virgil and leave. Shortly, the phone rings at Virgil's house. "Hey Virgil! This here's Floyd...did the Sheriff come?" "Yeah" "Did they chop your firewood?" "YEP!" "Happy Birthday Buddy!!!" (Rednecks know how to Git-R-Dun!!)

Headhunters recipe is perfect except I would go for 145 degrees and serve the wusses the outside and the real prime rib appreciators the middle!

Never feel bad for those very infrequent times that I harvest for the table. Do however if I have a fish I plan to release not make it.

You didn't say what your budget was. There are many opinions on the welded vs rivetted hull question, some have valid rationale, some just personal preference. Personally, probably the best bit of advice that I can give you is do your homework first. The manufacturers sites, sites such as OFC, owners clubs. Once you establish a budget, stick with it. The boat show is an awesome place to get the juices flowing, but it's also an easy place to get caught up in the shine and glitz and fall prey to our impulsive sides where our brains fall into our shorts! No doubt it can be a place to save anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand, but make sure you are in control by going with a plan in mind.

Awesome news, family is what Christmas is all about.....

Same here Lew, I actually write it in the offer. Remember the days when the dealer "nameplate" was actually mechanically attached to the trunk of your brand new car?

Christmas Story #1 with Christmas Vacation a close second!

I have spent many hours in one of those. Incredible workmanship.

Do we have a contingency plan Terry?
-
In a perfect world, both. Can't beat a tiller when fishing alone, BUT, like Wayne, I am a windshield and top man all the way for various reasons.

Well, when I turned it on they were losing so I figured it might be a good game!

Ah yes Rick, I remember it well...blood curdling screams from my wife seem to be timed just when I am doing something relaxing or dangerous, or both! We live in an area where rabbits are rampant and our yellow lab benson and our two cats oscar and ella keep the population down. Ben can't outrun them but the cats serve as "beaters" and the dog waits for an escapee! May I suggest that you remove said intestines and fricasee the rest.... Tell your dear wife that in the grand scheme of things rabbits are pretty low in the food chain.
