  1. Where are you fishing in Guelph Rizzo?
  2. They are simply awesome Brian! Now the biggest challenge is tying them on to your line! Try a pair of magnified readers or a monocle...lol.

    Eels

In my teen years we caught them by the dozen in local rivers at night. Sadly, our lack of conservation knowledge back then and the fact that they were, and still are, a popular food source has dwindled their numbers down to endangered level. Their life cycle is very interesting and a good read, it takes more than 10 years for them to reach maturity.
  4. Radial Arm saw is my preference. Maybe not as portable but way more versatile.
  5. Yup those are they.
  6. Now ya talkin'! #20's in that pattern was my go to, except tied on barbless spade hooks. They were a much finer gauge wire. In those days #16's were large hooks and 18's were average.
  7. I like those Brian, what size are they?
  8. Nice work Brian.
  9. That was what 2003 ish Chris? I think I joined the year after and never missed a GTG after that. Good times indeed.
  10. Let's plan on a visit or two Cliff. We can talk further on the ice?
  11. Market forces have always determined pricing for almost anything, whether it be real estate, vehicles, boats, rv's or simply most consumer goods. Buying a boat in this market is probably not the smartest financial decision you can make, but, supply and demand is what drives a market. Contrary to my better judgement I bought a boat in this market! However, it seems as though aluminum "fishing" boats are the ones are demanding crazy prices, less so glass boats. I sold an aluminum boat a few years ago for what I thought was a "fair" price. Today that boat will command thousands more, (market demand). Covid has essentially put a stop to peoples recreational travel plans causing them to rethink their type of vacation, I know it has ours in retirement. In our first full year of retirement we had lots of travel booked that didn't happen. Instead, we decided to make the best of it and pulled the trailer to many different campgrounds. We figured that maybe we would try a year of seasonal camping in 2021 where we could also dock the boat, good luck! Nothing now available anywhere! I guess that things will re-adjust, maybe, in the next 12-24 months. It may be a scary time if and when it does.
  12. What he said..
  13. Do they have vacancies?
  14. Funny how things go around. I float fished for years all over the UK with a Mitchell 300 and a 12' glass rod. Got so that I would hardly ever have the bail closed until I hooked up. Light drag on anf it was happy days. Wasn't until I was older that I got my first centrepin. Hated it a first, however ended up with quite a few. Still like fixed spool reels.
  15. If it was solely for fishing and I fished by myself or with another guy all the time I would invest in a 17' or 18' tiller. I don't get the side console option as I don't think they offer much in the way of protection. As I fish only part of the time and the rest is recreational boating a full windshield and bimini works for me.
  16. Both Spring Rock and Sandy Beach have zero vacancies for 2021...Stayed at Spring Rock in August and it is a nice park.
  17. tomkat, you have a PM..
  18. Nice going Brian. I keep promising myself to get back out on the rivers and streams, I do miss it.
  19. Nice to hear from you...hope all is well.
  20. Happy Thanksgiving to all...
  21. Beauty!
  22. Haven't Lew, I will thanks.
  23. Yeah, it is a pretty densely populated lake for sure. May look elsewhere.
  24. Thanks guys. I have exhausted everywhere in the Kawarthas. May have to look further afield.
  25. Looking for information on Lake Manitouwabing, fishing, general lake information, community, anything of interest good or bad. Many thanks, John
