  1. Or grits ???
  2. The first year we moved up here I found a great looking bamboo fly rod leaning against the fence down by our boat launch...I brought it home as the weekend was fast approaching and the area would be crawling with kids out of school and was afraid what shape it may have ended up in... Next day I mentioned it to the owner of the local hardware store and he said "wait a minute" and made a phone call...yep...he and his friend Tom were out after crappies the day before and Tom's best fly rod was missing...Tom dropped by my house a bit later and he was so happy to get it back that I thought he was going to kiss me ! (not that there is anything wrong with that...Seinfeld)...
  3. Just got my baitrunner respooled and got half a pail of maize soaking in the garage... I hope to terrorize some carp over at Carp Point Sat/Sun morning this week... Will keep an eye open for your pod here and around P'Boro... Good idea to post it on CAG in the Canada section...
  4. "When you are wrong...Promptly admit it!" You are right dawg, I am wrong...the mouth is slightly different also...
  5. You could try sticking a hook in a stale piece of bread and cast it out to them...
  6. Jim...Unless I'm mistaken those are just plain old common carp...
  7. AWE...poor old Dawg !!! I'd feel for you but I can't reach ya... The spring crappie fishing was not as good as previous years...too many cold nights down near zero degrees celcius...

  11. Welcome to OFC Mark...there are a few carpers here you have probably met already...
  12. Somewheres between Yonge Street and Bayview Avenue running north from Elgin Mill there is a street which has a storage locker company...I used to rent a locker there but saw several boats on trailers in the yard...can't remember the name...sorry...
  13. I'm guessing there is a paella in the making... Have fun guys and gals and catch a bunch !...
  14. It's been a few years since I have fished Rice Lake but one of the fun things to do was anchor just outside of the river mouth off to either side then toss a tube or worm into the wash of the bigger boats as they were coming out into the lake...the bigger boats stirred up the bottom pretty good and the bass would move in to gorge themselves on any goodies that were easy pickin's...
  15. After catching a black drum off the pier at Daytone I asked an older couple who mainly fished for redfish (red drum) "only those guys over there eats them" pointing to a few black guys we had made friends with...I figure if they ate them we would give them a try...I wrapped several fillets smothered in salsa and lemon juice in tin foil and did them on the BBQ...tasted great Those same guys wern't calling us "rookies" by the end of the week...we never told them we didn't fish...we just never fished for saltwater species before...but "little Joe" showed us how and we learned quick...
  16. Gotta love the tablecloth...Are crawdads really that messy to eat ?
  17. Awe...no dock launching party this year... And here I was lookin' forward to burnin' some of those great tastin' burgers from Zellers... Need a small engine repair ?...Cliff's your man !...
  18. Yep...4 hooks only... Dawg gave me a couple of sabiki rigs with 6 hooks so I have to cut 2 off...top 2 or bottom 2...decisions...decisions...why does life have to be so damn complicated...

  20. Ahhhh Youth !!!... Have a great summer Matthew and enjoy your new job...
  21. You got that right my friend! Hopefully, fishing with crappieperchhunter. Not sure when yet...company can't make up their minds when they are coming here to celebrate grandson's birthday and Mother's day....Sheesh...the nerve of some people's children !!!
  22. Never heard of walleye until I started reading fishing magazines and the American writers called them walleye... My grandfather and my father called them pickerel and so did anyone I fished with... I s'pose Canadians (guides)adopted the name so as to not offend our southern neighbors...(God forbid !!!) (Who won the war of 1812 anyways?) Pickerel forever !!!
  23. Beans

  25. Most fish will strike a lure head first except pesky panfish and pickerel...
