  1. 88.9 in town today...81.9 at curve lake but only if we need to go by there...
  2. I didn't have to turn back the odometer in my old 1995 Ford 150...When it got to 399 klicks it went back to 300 all by itself...I knew the former owner (mechanic) and he was amazed when I told him...
  3. Thanks for the kind words guys...it seems strange not having those sad eyes staring at me when I'm eating (gimme some, gimme some, gimme some)...Didn't think I would miss that but I do... We got Chiquita five years ago...She was my sister-in-law's dog but Lee was dying of cancer and the dog was going to the Humane Society...She would have had a hope in hell of being adopted from there at the age of eight so we stepped up and brought her here... I like to think Aunty Lee was waiting for her at that Rainbow Bridge with some cheese (Chiquita's favorite treat)...
  4. Cliff:...I checked with our family resident PC expert Mike and even though he doesn't have one he sez his fellow employees at Microsoft are high on Dell laptops... I use a Dell dude...
  5. Ya...What he said...Start your own damn thread...LOL
  6. Well...better luck today...after dialing the number every couple of minutes for 15 minutes, I got through to Service Ontario, got put on hold for 20 minutes (thanks for the tip about putting the call on speaker phone)...It took about 5 minutes to book the appointment... The only small problem is that the booking is 19 days after my license expires...they will issue me a temporary extension...
  7. Many Happy Returns my friend... Three score and ten eh?
  8. Finally got through to the automated message "the office is now closed...call back after 08:30 am tomorrow"... I used a different remote phone and dialed their number to get this message then did a redial and got the busy signal...I'm thinking maybe redial does not work for their phone number...is this a possibility ? My phone is with my cable company... Why they don't let us make the appointment via e-mail or a form on their website?...Probably because that might make sense Grrr! I was thinking of trying the Toronto number but I thought that was for Toronto residents...?
  9. Thanks Joey...I'll pass on the beer and keep on pressing redial... Yep...the 1-800-396-4233 number is the one... They don't list the test centers or their phone numbers...just driver renewal centers...the test center is in Lindsay...
  10. I just received a notice from the Ontario Transportation Dept. that because I will be 80 in March I must make an appointment by phone for an eye test and a group session before they will issue me a new two year drivers licence...fair enough but have you ever tried calling a government number?...have been trying the number on my application for over two hours and all I get is a busy signal...I suspect they take the phone off the hook so they won't be bothered...I know, serves me right for living beyond my allotted three score years and ten.. What a PIA !...any suggestions on getting through to them ?
  11. My son always carries a roll of tp also...ever since he tried using poison ivy leaves...LOL
  12. Have fun guys...Like Lew and Roy, it is too far for me to travel there...(Kelvin knows)...Take photos so we can enjoy with you vicariously...
  13. I hope no carp were hurt in the making of this video...
  14. Less than a month for an MRI is terrific...I waited three months in Richmond Hill and another year or more for my back operation... Hope it is not serious... There used to be a phisio place on Lindsay Street just south of Kent on the west side...can't remember the name (it's me age...don't you know) but they were still covered by OHIP (grandfathered) 10 years ago...
  15. Yep...you have good perception...He could have rowed out to where he got the trout it was that close to his cottage...lucky him eh ?
  16. Welcome to my club old friend...My right leg kinda gave out on me a couple of years ago or so...I had to remember to lead with my left leg going up and down the back stairs...When my bro-in-law Gord heard about my third fall he rushed up here from Oshawa and built me a bannister to hold on to...Haven't fallen since...LOL It will still be standing after the back porch falls down it is that sturdy...
  17. Our nieces husband was damned he wasn't going to miss opening of trout season because of no ice...I hear he caught a few and kept one for dinner
  18. "Good bye 2015" and good riddance...I hope the door hits you in the ass on the way out !!! Too many health issues to list but except for some stubborn chest congestion and a hacking cough I'm a lot better than I was earlier...back sleeping in my own bed instead of being propped up in my recliner... Fishing was no hell as I am limited to fishing for panfish and the odd bass along the shoreline...nothing the past few weeks so I released the worms I had left in the back yard before the cold weather came... Almost afraid to look forward to 2016 !!!
  19. Mickey and Murphy...AKA The Wrecking Crew... Poor old Chiquita...
  20. Thanks for posting this...I noticed that they changed their minds about making us seniors (65+)buy a license...
  21. Hmmm...I copied and pasted this URL and was able to send it via e-mail but it doesn't seem to want to open here ??? Help anyone ! (I just did a copy and paste here then posted it above and it worked ?)

  23. I can't help with the rod storage as mine are standing in three different corners...(1 in my bedroom and 2 in my garage)... The only tip is to back-off the drags on all your reels to avoid having them seize-up...
  24. Ah...the good old days casting a #9 or #11 floating Rapala with my old Mitchell 300 at sundown on Rice Lake at opening in the spring... After it started to sound like an old coffee maker I retired it to the wall of fame at my son's trailer but someone borrowed it and forgot to return it...Grrr. I needed another carp reel a few years ago so I bought a Mitchell 300X thinking it would come with the two spools like the old ones ( one with a small spindle and the other slightly bigger)... The small spindle could hold more line and with a big carp you needed lots of line or get "spooled"...Luckily, a good friend gave me a true carp rod and reel as it was just collecting dust so the new Mitchell 300X is used as a second rod for fishing along our shoreline for crappy, bluegills and bass...
