One of my peeves is using loose for lose...As in; A loose handle on my reel caused me to lose a good fish...not; A lose handle on my reel caused me to loose a good fish... -

I have had a couple of cancers cut out (back and face)...I now wear an old long sleeved white dress shirt when fishing or cutting the lawn in the sun due to the meds I'm on...They are marked "Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunshine."

After suffering a complete loss due to the fire at the Hwy 36 location, the diner is back and running at Hwy 35 South just below Hwy 7 the past two weeks... Seeing as how we had a couple of hours to kill after Maribeth had her second cataract operation we ran down to St. Dave's...Still the same great meals ! Congrats to Dave and his staff for all the effort they put into preparing and opening the new diner... A further congrats to Dave for losing 175 lbs...I had to ask our waitress for confirmation that that was him...(I'm envious)

I used to like anchoring at the mouth of the river and casting a tube, senko or plastic of your choice into the wash of the big boats as they leave the river and stir up the bottom...
-
Glad to hear you got your price Cliff but sad to think you will not be living in that nice house anymore...I understand only too well about not being able to doing the upkeep...I only got to mow the back yard yesterday then it got too hot...

I am very sorry to say that due to an apparent lack of interest and poor advance ticket sales, this event has been cancelled

I got a phone call from one of my carpin' buddies (Ron in P'Boro) informing me that we lost a fellow carper and long time OFC member a few weeks ago...Photoz. I'm sure some of you remember him...He got a kick out of ruffling a few feathers of some of the members but I loved his sense of humour... He is responsible for getting some of us interested in carp fishing...I will always remember him inviting me up to behind the Canoe Club in P'Boro to see him use his new European style carp equipment for the first time...He had paid $1320 for it ( I remember paying less for old cars than that !)...it boggled my mind that anyone would pay that much just to catch carp (I used to use a hand line with a bell sinker on the end and a drop line baited with a cornmeal doughball when I fished for carp off the Scugog Causeway when I was a young lad)...His first cast looked like a Tiger Woods tee shot... Steve liked to fish for most species of fish spring, summer, fall and winter but his poor health caught up to him and curtailed his activities greatly the past year or so (buggered up knee and Parkinson's disease) My memories of carp fishing with him are the best...I will sure miss sitting around shooting the breeze waiting for the sound of one of our bite alarms go off... Rest in Peace old friend

After catching a bunch of 'gills this spring, I was thinking that if they grew to 3 to 4 pounds ,you would really have your hands full bringing them in !
