Back in '53 when I was a skinny office boy of 17 my boss called me in to take a lunch order for him and Jack Dempsey..."I'll have two corned beef on rye with mustard and a couple of beers" Jack said...."Wadda ya mean you can't buy beer" he bellowed...scaired the crap outta me...I got the sandwiches and the office manager picked up a six pack of Heinekens at the liquor store...Cripes he was a big man... Also got to meet Sally Rand...My boss was a real rounder in his day and knew everybody... I've fished with Lew and Big Cliff and Roy and Nanook and Meely and Crappieperchhunter and Irishfield and Gary V and Adam and Sandy and misfish and Photoz...does that count?...does to me... WTG Wayne...now there will be no living with her...

Roger...nice to finally meet you and thanks for the report and yes, that kid of ours really knocks herself out for Tyler...and others (the stories I could tell ) Dave and Ken...sorry for not remembering you so soon after you giving me your minnows on your way back in...Guess that galloping senility of mine is galloping faster than I realize...

It sure would make chumming the area a lot easier...wouldn't need a slingshot or flinger to get the ground bait out...there are always a few carp caught in Cook's Bay At Lake Simcoe every winter...don't know if they were incidental catch or targetted species...

I heard from my step-son (Maureen's brother who lives in Alcona and stopped by to say hello with his wife and our grandkids) that the Polish club who were holding a tourney were handing out trophies to their winners and not being a fisherman, Mike did not know what kind of fish they caught only that they were way bigger than the ones we weighed in I remember seeing the Polish brigade heading out just before I did and they were walking towards the north/east (left from the ramp)

After trudging my way out as far as the first hut I recognized Tinbanger and family and asked if there were any spare holes around... Tinbanger and his guys/gal not a bad pic considering I was sitting where I fell on my arse...thanks for a hand up Dave !...I managed to catch four dinky perch... And here's the guy that all the noise was about...Tyler !!!...God bless him... And here's my #1 grandson 23 year old Robert with his son (my great-grandson) Ryan James enjoying life on Chuck and Shelley's ATV Great big KUDOS to all who participated and donated monies and prizes for this worthwhile cause and to those who did the legwork to make it the success it was...made getting up at 03:00 AM worthwhile...

Glen...If that store isn't open early Peter has his Bait Shack on the ice at the end of Gilford Road...they also have a tournament tomorrow so I expect Peter will be open earlier than usual... -

I don't have any fishing pictures of my dad or his father as I didn't own a camera way back then... Here is a four generation picture of me on the left standing beside my dad with my grampa sittin holding my oldest son Dennis and here is my mentor...as soon as school was out for the summer I was sent to the farm where he minded me... My mom's dad wasn't a fisherman but he never missed taking me to the Santa Clause Parade every year and to his company's (Clark's Tannery) Christmas Party where all the boys got a hockey stick and puck...LOL

Hey Wayne...I like today's forecast for Saturday better... Variable cloudiness and -7C for Innisfil

That dawg on the left looks like he is panting with his tongue hanging out from all the heat... We need a burn permit (free from the county) and must let them know when we intend to burn and when it is out...nothing bigger than 10' x10' x6'... I just use a ''burn barrel''... That is Maureen's pooch "Skylar" in the foreground...

DAMN !!!...dang' idiots... Glad to hear Sherri is going to be OK... Somewhat the same happened to Maribeth the first winter we were up her...she was on her way home from grocery shopping just after dark and because it was snowing quite a bit she was driving slower than the limit...too slow for some jerk in a pick-up...he went flying past her causing her to be blinded by the crap his truck threw up and she ended upside down in a ditch...luckily she had her seatbelt done up and was not injured, except for shock, but the car was a write-off...A good samaritan and his wife helped her down and out of the vehicle to wait for the police but it all happened too fast for taking down license numbers...

I sure hope you didn't leave early to miss some traffic...What a finish !!! -
Very nice Jed...suprising how much warmer it can be once you are out of the wind... I had days when I could stay out longer while others were packing it in because of the wind...and I never had a heater... Can that last section become a side flap in case you get one of those days when the wind keeps changing ? Looking forward to checking it out on the 24th.

Ya Brian...I still got the old Pocket Fisherman...it doesn't get much use nowadays but it got pressed into action that day as there were three adults and the two boys and only one had any equipment... Riley loved to come with me on the ice and sleep on his blanket inside the box...was a real pain when he would jump out to explore a strange noise and knock stuff over... He was a bit of a knotheaded mutt but we loved him... I still remember the day Maureen and Maribeth came and met me at the bus stop with him after they had been to the animal shelter....I took one look and said " Cripes !...Why didn't you get a real dog ??? " The rest of that day's crew...

Finally got around to shovelling the driveway (5 cars long x 2 cars wide) this afternoon... My guess is we got 10 cm (4 inches) new snow on top of the foot or more already on the front and back yards except where the wind has drifted it higher...Not too much considering what others got...
