  1. I'm not a religeous person by any stretch of the imagination but I do believe there is something in the power of prayer... Great news Rob !!! :clapping:
  2. Spam g'weeches and a hot soup in my stainless steel thermos...Right Cliff? Ya...cookies is good
  3. In the bottom of each corner there is a block of wood 4" x4" X4" with a 1" dia hole drilled down the center and at the top of each corner there is a triangular piece of the 3/4 " plywood with a 1" dia hole drilled...this was for the poles...after securing the tarp at the bottom of the boxes (hooks in the grommets) the tarp was secured with a couple of bungee cords... I picked up two pairs of skis at a community yard sale at St.Ola for $2.00 each pair and I bolted them onto the bottom and fasten a pull rope on the front... I also made a wooden seat as you see in the pic of my pal Riley or sit on a pail inside and the wooden seats became trays...(sure miss that mutt!) The problem I had with them is they were too heavy (3/4"plywood as suggested by my contracter son-in-law) and not being a skier I did not know skis don't ride on top of the snow (worked great on glare ice) They are now doing duty as shelf holders in my fishing area out in the garage... If I had it to do all over again I would use 1/4" plywood and bolt a small aluminum toboggan on the bottom...even cutting some of the wood away as in the last pic... it was still too heavy...
  4. I'm in the same pickle up here in Bobcaygeon...All bait shops are closed for the season... Last week I stopped into the local pet shop and they said if I give them a week's lead time they can order waxworms for me...great for tipping a small Swedish Pimple or tear jig or small jiggin rapala... A bit pricey at $0.15 each and I'm assumming they will want a minimum order of 50 or 100...gotta check that out... Please post results of your Peterboro finds or PM...Thanks
  5. "I can still get on the bus at half price." Ya but Roy...They still won't let you on the roller coaster rides...
  6. You gotta love pier fishing...never know what you are going to hook-up with... WTG with the picture posting...you'll have to explain to me how you got them hosted on OFC Community...
  7. ANDY...checking out my catch off his dock...
  8. Gerritt:...I'm glad your trip turned out well...being with a bunch of OFNers makes for a good time...fish or no fish... "About 45 minutes after picking up Scott I hear OHHHH CRAP!! (that is never a good thing on a fishing trip) Corey exclaims "I LEFT MY BOOTS AT HOME!!!" kinda too late to turn back now.. so here is Corey in his running shoes going on a ice fishing trip... not a good idea.." Dang !!!..that sounds familiar...Now where did I hear that before Big Cliff ??? I know!...it was the trip to Airport Road that your neighbor Paul came along...
  9. Hey Herb: Good to see you are back with us...won't be too long and we will be fishing for ??? (whatever) off of Cliff's dock...

  18. I dunno Cliff...The way you keep comin' up with these jobs ever since you "retired" is amazing... Methinks we better hurry up and get out on the ice before you are tied up with some new endeavor... Keep the Faith !
  19. A large blanket over the crate helps to give it the "den" feel as long as the dog can see out the "door" end...
  20. Yep...That's my buddie Jack for ya!... Wadda Guy !!! Like they say Jack...You da Man !!!
  21. I used to icefish Frenchman's in my early teens (58 years ago)...A buddy and I would buy 25 cents worth of emerald shiners from Skinner's on Saturday, take the bus out hwy 2 early Sunday morning then walk down to the bay and chop holes in the ice with a hatchet...used to get lots of perch and bluegills and the odd pike using homemade tip-ups... Fast forward to the late sixties and I would give Simcoe a try for whitefish in the morning and if no luck I would take my kids down to Frenchman's for panfish with the minnows we had left over...I've seen it so good that I would have to take a couple of lines out of the water so I could keep up with baiting their hooks... Have often wondered if anybody still icefished there...over by the south west corner was usually the best area way back when...
  22. Joey said it...best mental health in the world for me is "go fishing"...
  23. I know this was mentioned on another thread but as our M&G is on the Saturday of license free family weekend it might be a good time to bring a friend who has expressed an interest in icefishing but needs a license...I'm sure most of us will have extra equipment that we could lend them to get a "hands on" feel of what it is all about...
  24. Two cats...Ki and Rocky...both black...Ki weighs about 25 lbs and Rocky about 10 lbs...both courtesy of Maureen Both are good mousers... We had to have our old mutt Riley put down a couple of years ago...diabetes
