  1. For the people of New Orleans, I want the Saints to win their first Super Bowl, them people been through alot in the last few years.
  2. I just use a 7ft mh convergence by shimano, must be almost 10 yrs old but its tough been stepped on so many times, straighten the guides and carry on. hace a St.Croix mh as well.
  3. 1 pc is much better than a 2 pc. A more uniformed arc and less chance of breaking under normal conditions. Anything under7 ft I always buy 1 pc unless its for the bush.
  4. Ive had both as well. If you want it for off road only the 2 stroke are more fun. If its for roads and bush go for the 4 stroke. By the way a 250 2 stroke will have no problems haulin you around. I had a RM250 Suzuki years ago and that bike was gnarly.
  5. The refs really sided with the leafs last night.
  6. I remember many years ago I think it was 1988, my partner for the fishing tournament was spending his weekends in jail and I had to pick him up at the jail each morning for the tournament and bring him back to the crowbar hotel after the day of fishing. Anyway on the morning of day 2 the gun goes off and away we go. Got about a klick away and the motor stopped. No problem just change the gas tanks and were off. Well the other tank was empty too and we had to be towed in to get gas at the marina. Man felt like a idiot that morning.
  7. The times are a changing Cliff, but sometimes not for the better. I fish bass tournaments and compete against some of my best buddies. We have a little rule that we use and it goes like this. Alot of times we pre-fish together and if one of us shows the other a spot it is still the spot of the one that showed it. So during the tourny if I go to a spot I showed a friend while pre-fishing and he is there he will immediately leave the area and go somewhere else. It works good for us. Unfortunately we don't all think like that. There is a few teams that show absolutely no respect for their fellow anglers but thats another story.
  8. A few years ago we were fishing on Kikwisi lake in Quebec trolling for big walleye and my buddy hooks into a monster. After about 5 minutes or so we get it up to the boat and its a 15 lb flat rock. The look on his face was priceless. He was so pissed and dejected he snapped his rod over his knee and said take me to camp, I might as well just sit around and do some drinking. I laugh every time I think of that.
  9. My bucket list includes Sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River, and those monster steelies on the Skeena. Man there huge fish.
  10. I had an Alaskan Malamute some time ago and she loved to go fishing. She would hold the fish down and wouldn't let go till I got the hooks out. Man I miss that old girl.
  11. Welcome aboard Cheaptackle. Where can I get my hands on some steelie jigs? I wanna buy some cheap.
  12. If your having a super bowl party try this. Smoked Salmon Dip. 8oz cream cheese (room temperature) 1/2 cup sour cream 1tbsp lemon juice 1 tbsp of dill 1/2 tbsp horseradish 1/2tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper shredded smoked salmon mix chill and enjoy I feed this to my buddies when they come over for a game cause its easy on the salmon supply and they love it with crackers.
  13. I need some help here. How come when I enter salmon jigs into the search engine I get everything from how you spent your christmas vacation to why I quit smoking. Who cares I want info on jigs. I know there is lots of people here who make jigs and I am looking to purchase some. I would rather buy jigs that are made by fisherman/woman that use them themselves because they use the proper components etc. I ordered some from B.C. and want to compare the difference. Thanks in advance.
  14. I have never used yammy tubes, but there other plastics are fine, price sucks tho. But back onto tubes, the Venom tubes are a good product. I have been using them for years and usually buy the 50 packs of my favorite colours. There 5 inch flipping tubes rigged weedless with a 5/0 gammie are really effective on them big largies. (buy them by the 100 pack.haha)
  15. I'm mostly Shimano myself. I would say the Curado is the best bang for your buck. There the workhorse of my reels. The Chronarchs are sweet as well but a bit more expensive.
  16. spinning rod lh,baitcaster lh, centerpin When I get one lh, hockey lh bat lh,writing rh, I gave up on rt hand reels after my first couple of bass tournaments. After casting all day for shallow smallies and always having to switch hands all day, I would be so tired at the end of the day. After buying all new lt hand gear the fatigue was was cut in half and I have never really used rt hand gear again, unless borrowing. Just doesn't make sense to do the switch every cast.
  17. Driftwood PP in Rolphton Ontario is a nice little park with great facilities on the Ottawa River the fishing is really good for nice smallmouth, pike and good numbers of walleye.
  18. The lid off a soup can works good.haha
  19. I tend to prefer stren power braid. I tried it about 5 yrs ago and havent used any other type of braid since. I usually use mono for backing just to fill some of the spool up. At 25 bucks a spool it goes alot further this way. At the end of the fishing season I just take the braid off and tie the mono to the opposite end and voila new line for next season.
  20. CT lost my businees on tires about 30 yrs ago. I bought a set of tires in a private deal and took them to crappy to have them installed. Within five klicks there I was sitting in the middle of the street downtown with only 3 wheels on my car. Not only did I have to get towed but my centreline rim was damaged as well. A tire shop is the way to go.
  21. On the way to the lake.... David Wilcox... River boat fantasy then some old hip etc.
  22. Thinking of making my own and see how that goes. doesnt take a whole lot of doe to get started, and it seems quite interesting from what I have researched.
