  1. get a 2nd battery. little cheaper than a genny.
  2. suick and dive and rise jerkbaits in general are some of my favourite baits. they work great over rocks, the tops of weeds - easily backing out on the pause. they come in weighted and unweighted flavours. I prefer the weighted ones myself but I dont fish really skinny water. To me, the best suick is a waterlogged suick. Some people add weights to their lure. don't be afraid of deeper water and suicks. even 30', look at your 15' boat, imagine twice the lenght, imagine a 48" inch fish.. to traverse 30' is nothing for that fish - three kicks of the tail and it's all over your bait.
  3. the way a dipsy works is you attach a 5-6' lead to the end of it (to the lure). it does the work of diving. so no, you lure would not dive an extra anything. you'd have to have an 80' lead off the dipsy to achieve what you're trying to do.. impractical and likely impossible.
  4. tip: you can untwist your current line by trolling it with nothing on (no lure, no swivel, nothing) for 10-15 mins. just let it all out and put the boat in gear and phil's your uncle.
  5. costa del mars for me to, i used to use the cheapos but the difference is astounding. esp. when it comes to strain on the eyes. i have the 580 (?) glass ones.
  6. the biggest revo toro winch (you are gonna want the 60 or 61) is used by musky fishermen to cast double tens, big cranks and other hard pulling lures. it's low ratio and relatively large spool make retrieving hard pulling baits easier. it's not about the size or weight of the lures but how much water they displace and effort required to retrieve them (particularly at a good pace). for throwing very easy pulling baits like a top raider, small bucktails or any jerk bait, it would not be my first choice (although it will do it no problemo) that would belong to the curado 301, revo toro HS in the big size or the discontinued quantum cabo cbc31pts (something with a higher ratio and lighter).
  7. then you need to tell us where, how and for what you fish. your existing units are fine if you're fishing some small puddle. you could also keep using them on bigger water just fine and get a standalone gps unit either fixed or hand held. or buy a combo sonar/gps - many options. if you're not gonna network and don't need the big screen of the 7,8 or 10, i'd say don't bother with hds. save some coin and look into the elite 5 with nav chip
  8. Yes, Fish Farmer, I took some rubbing compound (the stuff sold to restore yellowed automobile headlights) and added a little elbow grease and it greatly reduced the spots. If I keep at it, I should be able to get most of it off. Like I said, thankfully no damage to the screen.
  9. anyone had luck getting those white spots out of plastic ie. sonar damaged by bug juice? screen appears to be ok fortunately. newb on board didn't realize the damage this stuff does to plastic.
  10. sleep/drink during the day, fish hard at dawn/dusk/dark.
  11. i prefer the BB but mostly use for business. if it were strictly a personal phone i would look at the iphone.
  12. # This allows you to redirect your entire website to any other domain Redirect 301 / http://example.com/
  13. that's too bad.. i just saw them in february in toronto. rockin' as hard as ever.
  14. some tips on learning to use a baitcaster: use heavier line (mono or braid) 12lb+ mono, 30lb+ braid - alot more user friendly. once you get used to it, you can go lighter. use heavier lures - easier to learn to cast using heavier baits, same as above. particularly when there's a breath of wind. once you get used to it, you can start using lighter lures. never go cheap on a baitcaster. and once you go baitcast you'll never go back for casting most lures. a spinning reel is still a great tool for jiggin or casting light baits.
  15. you don't need it if you're going through fuel that quickly. use stabil if you think the fuel will sit for 3-4+ weeks.
  16. Make sure you know what you're saying. In today's motors, running 87 in an engine designed for 91 or higher will not blow it up, melt pistons etc. The ECUs will idiot timing in order for the engine to run safely without pre-ignition/detonation. This comes at the cost of performance when running crap gas. It is a safeguard from poor gas or your wife pouring 87 in your hot rod. Hot rodders advance timing to take advantage of higher test on motors designed to run 87.
  17. Ethanol is actually an octane booster. It allows gas cos. to use a lower grade of gas and bump the octane value up using ethanol to meet vehicle requirements. Sunoco I believe was the 1st to start using ethanol and are (along with PetroCan now) the only ones to have 94 octane -- with 10% ethanol.
  18. where do you get those % from Shell is the only gas to contain zero ethanol in their premium.. for now and if they've not changed it already. All the others have ethanol in all their blends.
  19. wow... they look so.. human? balding, imperfect complexions and all. you shoulda offered her a cheeseburger.
  20. shop around $350 for $4500 coverage is waay too much. you should get more than double that coverage for $350/yr
  21. double 10 10" believer top raider wades wabbler i could fish all year with those 4 baits.
  22. i agree.. there are spots you simply cannot fish in the day or in the summer due to the heavy boat traffic - that's just the way it is. you cannot expect people to get off plane on a marked channel because you are there fishing, tied up to the buoy (which is illegal btw). first and foremost, it's a throughfare. common sense goes both ways. there are lots of other places to fish.
  23. a deep cycle can come in all 3 flavours. if yours has the caps on top that you can remove to top off the water inside, it is a flooded. if it is an optima, it is gel.
  24. keep this in mind for next year, always and I mean always plan your holidays begining July 1 - not before. The weather gods just like Canada day -it never fails me. Beauty weather Canada Day wknd and beyond and I'm off to donate blood to mosquitos starting tomorrow.
