  1. get a 4x4 and get the v6 i was debating a i6 vs v8 in my jeep and got the v8. in the end, glad i did. it's a little better mileage on the hwy, little worse in the city and much better when towing. it simply doesn't have to work as hard to tow. i suspect the 4 cyl vs v6 in the escape is the same deal.
  2. you'll find an h20 on ebay if you keep looking i use a garmin etrex legend with mapsource nautical maps. the winner for me was the cost of maps (free vs navionic$). it's a moot point for you since you already have the gold chip
  3. i use a 8'6 clarus 'steelhead' action rod as my light board rod they come in spinning and casting flavours. it works with the offshore or smaller church walleye inline boards fine for spring trout.
  4. unbelievable. gov't need to stay the hell out of the arts.
  5. i did not have high hopes for this season. however, at the halfway mark, the leafs are ahead of nottawa in the standings. mission accomplished.
  6. ..but it will help them invest in new technology and greater efficiency. now explain to me why the price at the pump isn't going down since oil is priced in U$.
  7. yeah those & spreaders in general are pretty much useless for anything over 7-8 lbs.
  8. dont forget seafoam
  9. the 8-15-20lb i use for ice fishing lakers, jigging walleye in the spring, long lines and dipsys for trout in the spring. the heavier stuff for pike & musky.
  10. perhaps you're right Chris. like I said before I've not tried anything less than 8lb.
  11. just to be clear.. this is what i am talking about. typically a 25 yd spool that costs a fair bit. i still think some of you are talking about using fluoro mainline (which i've found to be worthless) as leader material which is a different animal than leader specific material.
  12. I also use stuff as light as 8, 15lb for trout trolling and ice fishing and it's also superior to mono. I don't however, have any experience with the really light stuff steelheaders would use.
  13. i dont know if we are all comparing apples to apples when it comes to fluoro here because I am in agreement with SRT8. maybe you guys are talking about fluoro mainline used as leader material? i only have experience with seaguar fluoro leader material in 8, 15, 50, 65, 130 and 200lb and there's just no comparison between it and mono when it comes to taking a beating from teeth, rocks or zebra mussels - the fluoro is hands down superior. i could care less about the visibility issue, the durability wins for me.
  14. have you tried an exorcism?
  15. Back when the world was black & white, people said the same thing about sonars. Now every boat has one. I agree there's a lot of junk out there that is just meant to separate you from the money in your wallet but one thing it does do is drive innovation, and that's not a bad thing. Caveat Emptor; it's for you to decide what is gimmick and what is useless.
  16. What Lew said re: muskie. To add, we also use them for trolling trout in the spring. After dozens of fish the lines take a beating, we'll also bang bottom with dipsys and that takes a toll on leaders too. Fluoro takes the beating much better than mono. Less time retying = more fish in the boat.
  17. My sincerest condolences to friends and family.
  18. you will still get line twist, baitcaster or not, if you don't use a quality swivel.
  19. rfmcrx, my 4.7 v8 GC gets roughly the same mpg as my old 4.0L I6 cherokee did. It wouldn't be much different than the 3.7 in the Liberty. A little better on the hwy, a little worse in-town. A fair bit better when towing (v8 does not have to work as hard is my theory). Although I wouldn't call Jeeps mileage, no matter the model, stellar
  20. Just my opinion, I think the Liberty/Escape/CRV are too small to fit 4 adults comfortably and I think a glass boat in the class of a Ranger would be pushing the limits of the Escape - the Liberty is a little more capable and would do ok on occasion. Tow with a CRV? Forget about it. Those small SUVs give up a lot of space compared to a mini-van.
  21. how many kids/pets need to get in? liberty is a bit small, get a grand cherokee. i've had the regular and now the grand cherokee as my last two vehicles. the regular was bulletproof to 450,000kms - i got rid of it reluctantly and replaced it with the grand. i can't comment on the longevity of the grand as i've only owned it for 6 months but it's a sweet ride for sure.
  22. ottawa's just as bad this year, the only difference is nobody cares.
  23. no flu shot for as long as i can remember, and no flu for as long as i can remember. i think there's a connection.
  24. Only 305k? Still lots of life left. Did the metric conversion for anyone wondering. 1oz to 5 gallons = 30ml to 19 liters
