  1. that's definately Capt. Highliner.
  2. spring is a different ball game as the thermocline is not established. the temps are more uniform throughout than in the summer and the fish can be found at all depths. the active ones may be shallower but if you don't get biters, take out the dipsys and try a little deeper. if that doesn't work, get the riggers out and go deeper still. they can be anywhere in the spring.
  3. From ice-out till early June, you will not need your riggers. The active fish will be up high in the water column and can be caught long lining minnowbaits, spoons, spinners, etc. We catch them in less than 40' of water, sometimes less than 20. Planer boards can be a useful tool speading your baits out. Speeds are kept slow.. 1.5mph-2.5mph That's not to say you wont catch any deep. Once water temps get above 60, someone else can give you downrigging tips.
  4. even the ernie or lil ernie gets down fast if we're talking mass produced lures.
  5. you're still fishing with a boat load of line (leadcore) out, 100+' behind the boat. Making sharp turns to follow contours of structure is impossible. but it works great if you're just driving in a straight line. i've lures that are pretty much a 2:1 line out/depth ratio. ie. 40' line out, 20' deep on wire.
  6. Bob, I think he's great too. Wife on the other hand.. gets to experience his 'greatness' all day, every day. I've heard they are called velcro dogs and I see why.
  7. unless you're trolling open water/suspended fish, long lining is not really an option if you're fishing structure and you want pinpoint accuracy. hence the need for lures with steep dive curves that get down with minimal amount of line.
  8. Cocker Spaniel Joey. Amazing how quick they grow, we got him at 8 weeks at start of December, he was 8lbs, he's gotta be close to 15 now.

    Simcoe

    yes, store bought is fine
  10. We've a new addition as well. Meet Lemmy..
  11. i used to buy them 1 year at a time but going forward i think i'll do 3 years. this year my card expires (and if i am not mistaken they are good for 3 years) so I get a 3 year card and 3 year license.
  12. no lefty = no care
  13. The one with the yamaha.. ohh wait. They're both fine boats. Sorry it's not much help.
  14. 7th or so in Goal For, and 22 or so in goals against. Unless it's a #1 Center, the last thing the leafs need is another forward/winger. I think the leafs need to remain patient with him and Schenn needs to stay.
  15. I'm in Wellington County (Orangeville area) - my supplier is Superior Propane, when I filled my tank in Dec, the rate was 0.59xxxx a liter. I am on the will-call program (I keep track of the amount of propane myself and call them when I need to be topped up). Their service and dealing with them in general is TERRIBLE!!
  16. i keed you not. like i said, frozen dead bait will want to float. by putting someething heavy in its cavity you'll keep it down as well as oriented properly (ie. not floating sideways)
  17. was not aware of that terry.. when did that happen? if that's the case, carry on..
  18. yes, that's my way around it too. but....................
  19. i am just playing devil's advocate (because that's the rig i use too) but, some will say a CO *MAY* hassle you for 2 trebles... in a bait situation, each point counts as a hook and thus you are over the limit on hooks.
  20. windlass, quick strike, set it up inches off the bottom, drive a railroad spike through the dead bait (frozen bait will tend to wanna float).
  21. i guess it's true.. PP is the devil.
  22. not sure how many of these are PBs but some great memories over the years
  23. yes, it's likely the offset. there should be spacers available that will cure that.
  24. went through 3 phones in the last 3 months..(thanks work) the BB bold 9900, the nexus and now the galaxy s2. for pure business use, the BB is still tops in my opinion. as a personal phone/toy, the galaxy s2. i did not like the nexus, battery life was garbage.
