  1. If I were to guess, you are looking at 16-17 mpg (13-15 l / 100) in the city. Any way you slice it, a vehicle in this category will not be great on gas, especially in the city and mileage will be fairly close across the different models.
  2. chuck norris drives a tundra.
  3. toyota tundra is the 2nd coming of christ.
  4. double check your regs boys.
  5. I also have a Grand Cherokee 4.7 v8 (2001). With your budget you could get much newer. Very happy with it. The poster above is right -- in the Grand Cherokee at least, mileage is better on the hwy (21-22 mpg) and/or towing with the v8 than the 6 cyl. It is worse in the city that the 6. Do your research. I'd also look at the Ford Explorer. More room inside than my Jeep.
  6. what are the water temps on nip now?
  7. Crappy Tire right off the 400 on Bowes St. should have them.
  8. I run a 40 yamaha 4-stroke tiller with the troll assist. Everyone's gonna love their motor and I love mine.
  9. I have a hard time justifying the extra channels and I'm working with a decent income. Wife just calls me cheap. I'd have a talk with someone in Bobcaygeon and see just how many OTA channels you'd be able to pickup. You'd get peterboro easily but I am not sure if you'd get the feeds from the CN Tower reliably or Ottawa if you pointed in that direction.
  10. yes you do, if i recall correctly the "60" is the aspect ratio -- not the sidewall height. plug in the two tires sizes and you'll see the 3.4% difference. http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html Specification Sidewall Radius Diameter Circumference Revs/Mile Difference 225/60-17 5.3in 13.8in 27.6in 86.8in 730 0.0% 245/60-17 5.8in 14.3in 28.6in 89.8in 706 3.4% you are going from a 28.6" tire to a 27.6" tire. May or may not be a big deal, guys in jeeps runs oversized tires quite often (ie they go the other way) but I would listen to the mechanic (ecmilley)
  11. a narrow tire is generally better in snow you just need a little more sidewall in those 225/60/17s, like Jer said they will be a 'shorter' tire.. you'd propably want a 70 series tire to get the same diameter.
  12. I just raid the local bald eagle nest every morning. Fresh eggs.
  13. this correction will find you some bargains too.
  14. If I didn't have a wife that needs to watch toddlers & tiaras, I'd have kissed cable/satellite goodbye and gone OTA a long time ago. As it is though, there'd be a bounty placed on my head / WWIII would erupt. The specialty channels are no big deal to me -- couldn't care less about swamp people or recving hockey feeds from across the country..
  15. Just to be clear Norm, you will not get 250 or 300 HD Channels. I'm speculating a little but the package pricing they gave you is likely for a digital package which includes a mix of SD / HD channels. The actual number of HD channels is less (depends on the provider). If you are already getting a digital package and wish to add HD content, it's typically $8-20 extra. Shaw Direct (satellite) is actually one of the worst providers in terms of quantity of HD channels -- though that's supposed to improve this fall when they launch their new bird into space. Where they excel IMO is in customer service. Their support staff is knowledgeable and prompt. I suspect Rogers, Cogeco (cable), Shaw Cable and Bell (satellite) are the best in terms of quantity. Also remember that there are other sources for FREE HD content (ie. Over the Air antenna) that the telcos don't want you to know about. Yes.. a form of rabbit ears that receives a digital HD signal. There are many options and I'd advise you to look at your viewing habits.. if you watch specialty channels (I suspect you don't since you currently have a basic cable package), an OTA antennae will not work for you. If however, you're mostly interested in picking up local (southern ontario, WNY) HD feeds, OTA may be the ticket. Did I mention free? You may find that keeping your existing cable plan and supplementing it with a OTA HD antenna will be enough or, you may ditch cable altogether and be fine with OTA.
  16. 24 man rosters, typically 10 of those are pitchers. so the percentage is only off a little. still a neat fact.
  17. I've a 15' mirrorcraft tiller. i think it's a 2000 or 2001 design. fine boat by me. it's a 'deeper' vee than most i've seen in this size which makes it nice for chop.
  18. I waiting for Lew to chime in. If you fish lakes with thick heavy slop [ie Kawarthas] I would think spinnerbaits would work great. They are relatively weedless, you can work em fast, work em slow... etc. I don't typically fish places with really heavy weeds or really shallow and prefer to use inlines but if/when I do they get the nod.
  19. Crazy glue works great to seal up wounds in place of stitches. Not a bad idea to bring needle & thread either though.
  20. If you're starting out and at that price point, just look for a used Abu 6500 series (6501 if you're a lefty) C3 there's lots of them for sale (or just buy new) on ebay, classified, etc. There are better quality reels than the C3 but they i) cannot troll, ii) cannot cast or iii) cost more money. The C4 and BPS reels you linked are not very good muskie reels. The C4 is too flimsy and the gear ratio is too fast for hard pulling muskie baits -- given the cheap plastic internals, this will cause premature failure on the reel. The previous gen BPS was a chickenpoop reel that had lots of issues - no reason to trust this version either. If you are only going to buy one, and plan to use it for all your muskie fishing, what you are looking for is a solid reel with as little plastic as possible that has a loud clicker for trolling. A mid-pace gear ratio in the 5.3:1 range will ensure you can cast/troll/retrieve just about anything.
  21. P.S. We left before the ensuing boilie salvo from this lunatic could begin.
  22. So get this.. given that pike season opened on the great lakes this past wknd, we were fishing pike this wknd in hammy harbour and this idiot carp fishing on shore accuses us of bass fishing.
  23. Been making my own leaders for a number of years, crimps have worked fine for me at 130# fluoro. IMO it's tough to tie the heavy fluoro. For pike, I use 50# and tie those. Perfection Loop is what I use on the snap end and I either tie directly to the braid via uni to uni for jerkbaits or to a swivel for stuff that'll twist the line. You'll save a bit and like you said, get custom length leaders.
  24. I think you're nuts for abandoning the Yammy and only saving a few bucks. Not that the merc is a bad motor, far from it. The troll assist feature is real nice on my 40 yammy, I bet with the big 75 it'd be even nicer. Sure, waiting for the yammy sucks but you buy this boat and it lasts you for years..several weeks now is really a minor inconveniece in the grand scheme of things.(unless you have money riding on prompt delivery). Just my 0.02c.
