  1. you have to ask? bad day of fishn > good day at work
  2. that's 5 billion a year...peanuts!!! What did the gun registry cost us? Gotta start somewhere, this is not an industry on the decline.. if you can't beat 'em, join 'em and take control of our resources.
  3. Build refining capacity in Canada already. Why sell our oil only to buy it back? I understand this takes time (and money).
  4. why no fishn? maybe yours is worse, i was in a boat/camping two weeks after my acl went (brace on)
  5. my 2 cents says get an android for personal use and get a BB if primary use is business. i dread walking into apple store so i'd never recommend an iphone.
  6. like kickingfrog said, surface temps can vary wildly this time of year, pay little attention to them. a few hours of sunlight or a good wind mixing things up will change them +/-. you'd find that temps 1'+ down have not changed much at all (still cold).
  7. Bit of hail and calling for snow this evening around Orangeville. I'm glad it cooled down again, we had mosquitos in that hot spell up here, this'll kill that batch.
  8. Have you tried looking for a used c3? you can save yourself a fair bit of coin. I think the last one I bought cost me $60 spooled with 80# line. Not only will the C4 be tougher to use, it'll likely break on some of the harder pulling baits. In my opinion, it's the perfect reel for someone just trying / casually into muskie fishing and at the very least, it will double as a excellent trolling reel for other species.
  9. Dont get the c4 instead, opt for the c3 in the same size. The C3 is a tougher reel, the c4 is a bass reel. The 7000 altho a slower reel ratio wise, has a much bigger spool which makes up for the slower ratio.
  10. It does, and you will see a lot of guys book their holidays around moon phases (new/full). However, it takes a back seat to environmental conditions (ie. the weather) in my opinion.
  11. Not really Ric, they *may* move onto a shallower section/higher up in the water column of the same structure where you'd find them in the day but I don't believe they will move or seek out shallower water that is in an area they would not otherwise frequent.
  12. I like fishing at night. In terms of muskie, a great spot is a great spot no matter the time of year or day. I may fish that spot a little slower and be more apt to throw my lure on to shallower sections of that spot but I don't look for different places to fish day vs night. When it comes to lures, I do use topwater baits a lot more at night but I will not use Walk the Dog style baits, they miss them often enough in the day time. Whether on the surface or below I prefer baits that come in straight over very erratic retrieves & that make noise/move water a lot of water so the fish can hone in on them ie. big blades on spinnerbaits/bootails, prop style surface baits, or a believer crawled slowly on the surface. Colour, there is only one at night, black. In some ways it's 'simpler' fishing - lures, technique, you're limited by what you can see so you have to rely on your other senses. A big part is having your boat well organized before it gets dark, put everything you don't need away to avoid accidents & clutter and have all your tools ready.
  13. I'll be cheering for Ottawa's 1st round opponent. They won't get to the second round so I'll possibly have to figure out a another team then.
  14. next time you re-spool just reverse the line that's currently on your reel if you filled it completely with braid. it's be good as new.
  15. congrats on the boat and you'll be happy with hastings. i dealt with them on my outboard and all positives from me.
  16. Where did you get the lifejacket Joey. Our spaniel jumped into the pond and taught himself to swim today even with all the panic :D . I think they are more water dogs but, I'd still like to get him one for the boat though
  17. it's just the top few inches of the water. dive in 2' feet and lemme know how warm it feels. water temps can be very misleading this time of year, particularly after a warm snap. a good wind will mix it up.
  18. yup that's the site i use for nip/french info too
  19. doubleheaders link doesnt work for me, so i am not sure what he's driving at they draw nip down in the fall to prevent flooding in the spring. now that we're in the spring, they're filling 'er up again. i would echo nipfishers concerns due to the warm winter we had but, squid's post suggest things are normal to slightly above average for this time of year. that's my take on this whole post
  20. Today's wisdom says you should be trolling fast to catch muskies. May or may not be true. Just remember muskies don't read forums/magazines. Give it a shot.
  21. It looks much nicer when you are actually down there.
  22. 'they' expect/count on you to roll over & pay it. good on you for fighting it.
  23. it's the easiest test you'll have to write if you think you will get stuck, one browser window with the test, the other window with the answers -- they are all avaiable on the net your dog as your witness.
  24. perhaps a rooster got in amongst the chickens. just sayin'
  25. as mentioned above, letting it soak in milk before cooking works to remove the fishyness.
