  1. You're in the land of opportunity Jeremy! I hear that from many that have went out west for work. Thanks for sharing the posting Cliff. I forwarded it to a friend in Peterborough that is well educated in that field and having a hard time finding employment.
  2. $20 an hour for this area is great for any entry level job, any job in fact. Not sure where everyone lives that you think that this is a low wage. What do people do for a living who feel this is low? Anything over $20/hr is usually a union position and a bonus for unemployed individuals in the Kawarthas.
  3. I wouldn't go on lakes in the Huntsville area yet. Maybe by the 15th if the cold nights keep up and the snow is minimal.
  4. What do you catch at the Mosey?
  5. It's always a tough call, but some great advice here. Not worth going to court over $200. Talk to him and if he holds fast with his latest figure, tell him you're disappointed and move on. Most of us have stories like this. I brought an ATV into someone that said "if I can't fix it no one can". I knew it was something small, but he calls me and says he hasn't figured it out yet. I ask how much I have into it and he says $200. I told him not to do anymore on it because I didn't want a surprise bill of $1000 for an old machine. I go pick up the machine and he hands me a box of parts (crankshaft and all that) and said he would have to charge me more to put it back together. I take it home, put it on kijiji and it sells within the day for $300, my original purchase price. I talk to the guy the next day and he says he has it running, just some small electrical problem. I have never been back to him and I always tell the story to people that are planning on using that repair shop. His loss for not being up front. I was not expecting him to take the engine apart and he did not tell me that's what he was doing.

It's my wife's picture and she would say you guys have no imagination.LOL She seems to think there is a buffalo head or totem pole in there somewhere. Anytime you want to fish Pigeon Lake, just give me a call. That's all I can offer!

What do people see in this picture by using your imagination?
  8. I don't think I have ever seen one of those in the wild. Nice pic.
  9. Great shots!
  10. They all look like a bunch of school kids. It's not the kind of world I want to live in, have none of them learned what can happen when they attack someone the way they have in the public spotlight. This is not in defense of Ford, rather disgusted at how they all treat each other.
  11. The more they try to make things safer, the more injuries there seem to be. It's almost like a police state where every little thing is under a microscope. I guess it keeps people in jobs that review these cases. I can see no contact coming and the end of our great game.
  12. Kadri lifted his elbow ever so slightly to the goalies head. The slow motion video is a killer to players in this situation. I can see him getting a few games. Hope not though!
  13. I'll believe it when I see it.
  14. I'm glad I don't live in Toronto. Afraid that the voters will go the polar opposite of Ford's agenda when he gets booted. It's really too bad, because it was nice to see the people of TO stand up and bring this guy in after being burdened with Miller previously. Politics is getting so crazy!!!!
  15. The only reason children would know about this, is if adults are talking about it in front of them. This is an adult situation that children don't need to be exposed to or concerned with. They will only see Santa and the other floats when watching the parade, just don't bring up this topic in front of them.
  16. I think it broke because of the momentum of his skate being slung forward after he first made contact with his other leg. His right shin hit then the forward motion of his right skate caused the tibia to snap.It was really wierd; how many times guys go into the net and nothing happens. Those Bruins are a mean team. Not saying there was any intention or dirty play, they just kill teams physically overall.
  17. I hear you. Going into a crown land bush with a bunch of others that are unknown just doesn't make me want to get back into it after all these years. However, I had more close calls when duck hunting. Almost got shot on my own property while I was with my 2 year old son. We were on the dock watching a teal swimming around then decide to head back to the house. Just as soon as we walked behind some trees, someone let loose on the teal and we could hear the pellets rushing through the trees. I started out after them, but they bolted. I also had a close call in a blind when someone jump shooting didn't care who might be in the path. People need to slow down and put safety ahead of the kill.
  18. I have been having luck dragging small 3" twister tails in the deeper water and outfishing my fishing partner 4-0. He was using the traditional muskie baits. Give it a try if there is a bit of a chop and you can drift over your favourite spots, you might be pleasantly surprised. Keep the bait as close to the bottom as you can.
  19. Nice to see guys out braving the weather. I had plans to go, but just couldn't do it with a cold hanging around.
  20. Welcome to Lindsay GBW!
  21. I find I purchase most of my supplies from the smaller businesses. Only go to the bigger stores on occasion when driving by them.
  22. Pike have been in Balsam for probably 15 years if not more. Tigers are a muskie, so you have to follow those regs when making a deciison to keep one. 44" I have seen some pics of tiger muskie that were 50" out of Balsam. Rice is starting to show a lot more, Some have been caught just below the lock in Peterborough on the Otonabee River. It's just a matter of time before they are right through the whole system.
  23. Not quite sure why they haven't tried something like this yet. Maybe they have. I know they have been netting them and feeding the hungry in the US. Hopefully they won't take in the Great Lakes, but if they do, I say close the Trent system to avoid their spread into the Kawarthas.
  24. It will be interesting to see what happens after the next election or Ford's ousting and the new mayor of TO is Adam Vaughn or Karen Stinks. Should make everyone happy.
  25. I also questioned how someone in that position could find time to be a crack head.
