  1. But they're "ladies"!
  2. WOW, that looks amazing. No shortage of meat in your household!
  3. Just read in the Lindsay paper that he also got banned from organizing, managing, working at or running any WALLEYE tournaments for two years.
  4. Jimmer did they drive the fire truck out on the ice to save you. LOL, not quite. But they did come out through the cottages and yell for us to come to shore to speak with them. The trucks were at Rotary Park. I actually felt bad for the fire guys, they were being called out to assist someone and just doing their job.
  5. The OPP tried to get me and friend to come off the ice last year when we were on 20" of ice on Chemong. They called 3 fire trucks to rescue us. We stayed and few angry fire fighters left the scene knowing they were called for nothing. Not sure if it's one officer or the whole detachment in that area that has a problem with ice fisherman. Most of us understand that there will always be some areas that aren't safe, but some can get carried away with the cautions. However, I haven't been out yet this year, but probably will this weekend. Most that have been fishing are saying that there is over 5" on Chemong. They always put out the warnings of unsafe ice then post the chart showing what is safe; basically contradicting themselves at times. Be cautious out there so you can enjoy the ice fishing season.
  6. I haven't seen what Mike describes, but it would probably work better and the fish would get spread out more on release.
  7. The decision has been made regarding the walleye tournament a few years back that was held on Sturgeon Lake. They lost some fish and this was the result. http://www.thepeterboroughexaminer.com/2013/12/17/tournament-boss-let-walleye-die-mnr
  8. Cliff: Next time go to Bobcaygeon for your sticker, it's still done at the Chamber and a lot quicker.
  9. It's bad when my hydro bill would be well over $100 a month even if I didn't use any! Unfortunately the liberals will probably get back in due to the strong support from TO. Not that any other party will do much different if elected in. Letters to the editors in the Toronto papers that slam the liberals are usually from out of towners. Don't really see many people within TO bashing them. I think more and more are feeling the same when you look at voter turnouts. I know guys that said they aren't going to vote and that goes against everything they have ever said in the past.
  10. I actually saw some nice size fish right on the beach early in the morning. Kind of kicked myself for not bringing a rod. You obviously cross a causeway to get to the island, so that's a possibility also. I'm surprised that they don't push the fishing more, because the mangroves look amazing.
  11. I was talking to my daughter yesterday. She lives on the lake and says it's safe. Lots of guys fishing. However, play safe.
  12. Call Lawrence Park for ice updates. They should know the conditions.
  13. What, you're not used to that yet? LOL
  14. Where do I sign up? LMAO This is so true.
  15. I have used AVG for years and it works for me. You might have the trial version for the paid program. Uninstall it from your control panel, then download the free version if you need free virus protection. Same with Cliff. Did you check to see if it's a program that you can uninstall from you control panel. Just a thought. I also use CCleaner and it works well.
  16. I have a HH and yes it gets stiff when it's cold. Your body heat will loosen it up, but I still find it uncomfortable.
  17. That's crazy.
  18. Thinking about something to say here. But can't come up with anything.
  19. I have to give the guy credit. He caught a huge fish and released it. He knows what he caught and doesn't really care what others think. It sounds like it was someone else that wanted everyone else to know about it. He is an outdoorsman that doesn't need recognition.
  20. You're in the land of opportunity Jeremy! I hear that from many that have went out west for work. Thanks for sharing the posting Cliff. I forwarded it to a friend in Peterborough that is well educated in that field and having a hard time finding employment.
  21. $20 an hour for this area is great for any entry level job, any job in fact. Not sure where everyone lives that you think that this is a low wage. What do people do for a living who feel this is low? Anything over $20/hr is usually a union position and a bonus for unemployed individuals in the Kawarthas.
  22. I wouldn't go on lakes in the Huntsville area yet. Maybe by the 15th if the cold nights keep up and the snow is minimal.
  23. What do you catch at the Mosey?
  24. It's always a tough call, but some great advice here. Not worth going to court over $200. Talk to him and if he holds fast with his latest figure, tell him you're disappointed and move on. Most of us have stories like this. I brought an ATV into someone that said "if I can't fix it no one can". I knew it was something small, but he calls me and says he hasn't figured it out yet. I ask how much I have into it and he says $200. I told him not to do anymore on it because I didn't want a surprise bill of $1000 for an old machine. I go pick up the machine and he hands me a box of parts (crankshaft and all that) and said he would have to charge me more to put it back together. I take it home, put it on kijiji and it sells within the day for $300, my original purchase price. I talk to the guy the next day and he says he has it running, just some small electrical problem. I have never been back to him and I always tell the story to people that are planning on using that repair shop. His loss for not being up front. I was not expecting him to take the engine apart and he did not tell me that's what he was doing.
