  1. Here's one of my neighbour holding one. He's 5-10 175lbs.... For a sense of scale. Sorry for the crappy pic quality. Photo bucket is blocked on my work computer.
  2. My buddy had one at the base of his tree stand that wouldn't go away despite him yelling at it. It kept coming up the tree toward him. Then back down, then back up. Getting closer and closer each time. So he poked it.... Sorry for the graphic pic. Hope it doesn't offend anyone. I know it's illegal to kill a fisher. But this one was acting wild, and these little buggers got sharp teeth!!!!
  3. That's what I thought too Sinker. Marten are smaller. If my computer wasn't jammed up right now, and not able to access some of my photos, I would post a pic of me old neighbour holding a fisher so you can get a real sense of scale! They are actually pretty big.
  4. The screaming noise the make.. Makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck! I used to hear them all the time when I lived in the bush.
  5. I've been "Bluff Charged" by a fisher once. Dam thing had no fear. He only stopped when I drew my compound and aim it at his face.. I doubt I could have hit a small target like that, running at me full steam. It stopped and turned about 8' away from me. Then ran a few wide circles around (60 to 70'). I think it was trying to distract me from a den (or where ever the live). There are tons of them in Simcoe County. I've talked to one of the trappers in the area, he's got many of them in his traps accidentally. I've also seen several on the trail cam at our bear bait stations in Muskoka. Crazy little animals.
  6. Little Lake in Barrie has a skim on it today.
  7. I have been using MSR Revo for the last 3 years and love them. For all conditions. If there is deep snow, I add the extendable paddles to make them float me more. Ice fishing they are great. Very light, and extremely durable. But I also run in them, and go on backcountry trek in waste deep snow. they hold up great.
  8. Hey.. Brian.. Terry.. Early season crappies again??
  9. I can't see the pics for some reason. But if it's the same Pickle Lake I am thinking of (a small town 10 hour north of T-Bay..??) Than I used to live there as a young child. Not sure why I can't see your pics. Great report man!
  10. I have some mole mounds at my place. Lots of chipmunk holes and burrows as well. And of coarse the voles.. So I found Warfin at Richies feeds and needs in Elmvale. Left a bag of that out in a place that was secured from my pets and kids... Unfortunately, I have to sell me house. So I don't know what the grass will look like next spring. That's really only the time when I see the true damage from the voles, after the snow melts.
  11. No only can I handle it....... I can keep up!!!!
  12. Welcome aboard Joe! I'm not much of a shore fisherman. But there are plenty of good rivers around. Just look for spots where all the cars are parked on the sides of the roads! There's quite often guys on the board looking for people to join them for outings in their boats.. As well as get togethers. They are always a good time, and you'll learn lots! Keep An eye out. If ya ever want to get out on the water, you can borrow my canoe for a day! I've never met an east coaster I didn't like, so I'm assuming with out actually meeting you that your a decent guy...
  13. Hey, are you the guy right on Monk road with the "fishing and tackle sale" sign?? If so, I'll swing in next time I'm by!
  14. I am stuck at my in-laws in collingwood right now!! Come save me!! It will get you an extra rod in the water!!! Ah . I am wishful thinking.. I know I can not escape this place!
  15. It was a busy day in this neck of the woods today. I thought it was living in the city! Must have had 8 EMS vehicles FLY by my house today. Speed limit is 50, and I swear just after the goose insident, there was an OPP cruiser going at least 160 by my house... I didn't watch the news till tonight to find out what was up... Something else must have happened in the hood. Because around 1pm, elmvale fire came bombing by as well..
  16. Imagine being a minnow eatin alive by a bigger fish, and slowly dying inside the stomach, with your best friend (s) all packed in there with you! I've seen whitefish bellies stacked with minnows... As I'm sure you all have. It's a mass grave . Scary stuff for minnows to be thinking about.!
  17. I grew up on six mile. Many many firsts for me. Many lessons learned. We sold the family cottage last summer. It's going to be my first time on the lake that I've not had a cottage to go home to.. I used to spend 1 month every summer growing up at the cottage living with my grandparents. By age 12 I was hitting the night bite solo in my grandpa's 12' springbok. Which now resides on the lake across from my house. Usually I'm pulling up to the beach at the PP in my grandpa's bow rider loaded with people. We used to go there to swim all the time. Check out the ... Crowds. I'll be on the other end of it now.
  18. I hear ya sinker! It's gunna be a weird one for me. I'm used to a private chunk of crown land... We are camping with about 20 people and three camper trailers and half a dozen kids under 2..
  19. I'm heading to 6-mile lake PP this weekend. Anyone else heading there? Or any other fun trips this weekend? This will be my first real fishing trip in my boat since my son was born almost 2 years ago. It's crazy how they shift your priorities eh!!
  20. Wicked report Chad!! The kid looks cute!! And your bang on about moms.. It ain't easy for the first bit ..
  21. Going camping and fishing with my boy!!! Can't wait!
  22. I talked to lots of my Subaru friends. And I had to be careful with the info they gave me.. Because to half of my Subaru friends... Changing an engine is not a big deal.. In fact, I think they get some sort of joy out of it......
  23. It's a pipe dream really.. But well worth a shot!
