  1. Might have to try that for my worn out bucktail Muskie in-line spinners. I have several that are pretty naked of hair but otherwise still good.
  2. I remember watching a documentary about rediculous cancer rates down river from a nuclear weapons plant in northern Soviet Union. The government denied any link and said bathing in the river was ok. A western scientist measured radiation with a Geiger Counter. As he got progressively closer to the river the counter started screaming. Don't believe anything over there.
  3. Bucket list for me. Thanks for that. Makes the Kawarthas seem anemic.
  4. Landed a good ski a few weeks ago. 2 wild jumps with head shakes Wondered if we would have landed it had in line bucktail spinner been barbless ?
  5. 66 F here on north Pigeon. Caught 4 eyes this evening all under slot. Bottom bouncing a crankbait around humps in 20-40 ft. Marked fish in 30-40 ft. Dropshot on them. Smoke Slammer. 80% bluegills. Rest smaller smallies. Chicken tonight. ?
  6. Looking for a last feed at the cottage. Having trouble finding them this fall. Some guys say go deep. Others say shallow on shore at night. Anybody on them lately?
  7. Just got back to the lake. Had another look at the reel box. You are right 5:1. Sorry my bad. 4 ball bearings. Can sure notice a difference with the 6.2:1 reels. Feels good though.
  8. Always liked Cameron Lots of structure. There are some big girls in there. The public launch; one spring with a strong current, the empty boat trailer swung downstream and almost wrapped around the wall. Any pike?
  9. I think all those stores are struggling here. Huge overhead costs. Not busy enough to make a profit. IMO.
  10. Heck of a trip and video. Well done!
  11. Great job. Y bones gone too And legal to store. Well done!
  12. Thought I was lucky to get the last better Shimano reel at the LeBaron sale. A NASCI 2500 Never heard of them but the rep said it was a great reel. I try it and find it slow to retrieve. Turns out it is a 1:4 ratio reel. My Symmetries are 1:6.2, I believe. Can't take it back now. I'm thinking I could make use of a slow retrieve reel for the walleye fishing I do. Where do y'all think it would work best? Jigging? Not sure about drop shotting or rip jigging. I have a tendency to retrieve too quickly anyway. This may be a good thing. I hope.
  13. Also picked up a reel for it. Wanted another Shimano Symmetre. Rep said they were discontinued and replaced with NASCI model. Hope it's as good. Don't like the gold on it but seems solid. Anybody have a NASCI?
  14. Picked up a Rapala "Walleye" rod. LeBaron sale. I heard that they weren't that good initially. Have they improved? Will use it for jigging/drop shotting. 6ft 10 in. $88 - 20% off
  15. Went to the Markham location this morning. Packed. 20% off most things Some sale items at 50% off Ammo and Canada Goose wear 10% I hr line up to pay. ?
  16. $10-11 @ Costco.
  17. How do you deal with the Y bones mid fillet?
  18. Had good luck with eyes in August. North end. Mostly under slot. Some over. Only a few within. Last 2 weeks have been tough Jigging shallow and deep. Trolling deep diving cranks. Bottom bouncing stick baits. 15-25 ft around structure. Haven't tried worm harnesses. Catching smallies. Nothing big. No eyes worth mentioning. More and more Muskie trollers out.
  19. Sad to hear, Lew. Don't really know you but sorta do from all your posts on this site. I know you are a class act, that's obvious to me. Hope withdrawal symptoms won't be too bad. Just don't take up that other past time. You know, that 4 letter word. You'll have time now to work on that smile Cheers Peter.
  20. I took a 2x2 inch off the corner of my skeg. Fixed it myself with JB Weld Epoxy Putty. Sanded the edge of the broken edge rough. Overlapped a bit. Applied it. Cut it to shape with a hacksaw and sanded/filed smooth. Has stayed on for three years now. Marina wanted to take lower unit off and drain the oil before welding. I think quote was over $200.
  21. Googled them. Likely invasive species from China. Harmless to people. Barbs apparently can't penetrate human skin. May be increasing due to global warming.
  22. First I've heard of them.
  23. Wow. Sucks to hear about the Erie bust. Thought it was a fish factory. Are the commercial guys way down too?
  24. Typically the salmon are staging near river mouths and starting to run, this time of year. Harder to catch on the lake. I'd work the Blue Zone straight out from Bluffers. Pick your days. Back off if winds more than 10-15 km/hr. Bows are usually very cooperative. Lots of jumping. Look for bait fish on sonar. If you catch fish. Keep working the same area. Tend to be more. Don't fish too deep. Usually run lures 25-60 ft down. You'll have to guess with your gear. Dipsey divers have depth guidelines on package. The further to the side you set them, the shallower they go. Remember 2 rods/person allowed on Lake O. Be safe. Have fun.
