  1. You are right but fishing licence sales are decreasing for a while now
  2. Typically they stay on for 5-7 days. You won't feel the bite nor will you feel the tick on you. They secrete a kind of local anesthetic so you don't feel anything. The good news is that most ticks don't carry Lyme disease in most of Ontario. Problem areas are Prince Edward County and east along the St Lawrence valley and the north shore of Lake Erie. An infected tick needs to be attached to its host for at least 24 hrs before it can transmit Lyme disease. A thorough tick check at the end of the day in the mirror or by your sweetie and prompt removal is key if you've been in the woods
  3. Best think to do is grab it by the head with tweezers and pull it straight out. The infectious agents, like the Lyme bug, are in the belly of the tick. Squeezing the body with your fingers or pissing it off with chemicals or heat could potentially cause these bugs to pushed into the victim.
  4. Yup. Get your pooches on good tick prevention Oral or topical. Should start April 1.
  5. Thanks for the tip. Doing the same up here but maybe more pressure.
  6. Going to spend more time watching where guys are fishing for eyes on north Pigeon. I've never had much luck early season at my usual June/July spots. Anybody up at 6 am in a tinny should be local that knows what he's doing Me thinks.
  7. Just heard Lake O up 52 cm(1 1/2 ft) from usual April levels
  8. Any flooding in Halliburton or Kawarthas?. Even Lake O is way high.
  9. Up to the cottage on north Pigeon. Took my ride out. 10 yrs old. 115 Yammy. Started right up as usual. Original battery. Water levels up 6 inches over normal. Saw 1 boat fishing. Water clear. No panfish at the dock. Life is good.
  10. Great! Are those cats edible ?
  11. That's brutal!
  12. Ya but the wise, seasoned husband looks after the dishwasher and trash. Occasional flowers. Maybe some dinner out. Then you get to fish way more without regrets!!
  13. Kiss boating goodbye with those jumping carp Fishing for native species will deteriorate as they are displaced as they have been in the Mississippi watersheds. I'll be selling our cottage on Pigeon before values tank. Maybe a deep isolated shield lake.
  14. Asking $2,900 4cyl stick 4 dr blue 200k km
  15. Ended up buying a new Subaru Crosstrek for the wifie. Prices for good used cars are stupid high. Now I have to sell the old girl. 2004. Been a good car. As trade in, the dealers offered squat. Going to sell her private. Thinking Kijiji. But don't want the hassle that comes with tire kickers and low ball offers. Thinking of setting a firm, fair price. Take it or leave it. My mechanic recommended to sell As Is. I think I need to get a sellers package from MTO and e-test but not sure. Which is better -Kijiji or Autotrader? Or use both?
  16. Would be a good choice. Sounds underpowered as they often are. You want at least 75% of max rating for the boat.
  17. Thanks for the heads up.
  18. A ton of rain, wind, then snow more to the north. Ground is saturated. Make sure your down spouts are good and water can get away from buildings.
  19. Not a bad little show. Went last year. Was free.
  20. You too. Nicest part near Severn. Rail at Big Chute.
  21. Should work great. Muskie are not fussy IMO. Hooks likely a little small
  22. I'm always pumped too for the opener. But then half way through the game I remember how crazy slow the game of baseball can be.
  23. Went to a great Cottage Life Show Buddy selling an aluminum hot tub with firebox built into one end of the tub. Made in BC and shipped anywhere. You sit on cedar benches. Cedar boards outside more for looks and insulation. No whirlpool effect. No electricity Most people fill with lake water $3,800. Anybody have one of these? www.alumitub.com
  24. Not sure it's wise to let renters use a motor boat. Lots of liability issues potentially. Plus hassle if they wreck it. When I rent out my cottage, guests rent one from the local marina if they don't have their own. Just sayin.
