  1. Anybody have ideas as to secure a plastic grub on a regular jig head? Especially Gulp? If it's not the panfish, it's the weeds that pull it halfway off every second cast. I've heard crazy glue. How exactly do you use it?
  2. Water levels are low. Surface temps at the NE end this afternoon 82.5F Has turned fairly green since a week ago Lots of algae. Might get a bloom soon if weather doesn't change soon.
  3. Amazing. Thanks for posting and the details
  4. Well said. I use RoundUp all the time at home/cottage to control weeds/ grass. Never pull a weed twice. Don't use on lawn. Kills everything. A plant hormone. Not afraid of it. Hope I don't pay a price ultimately. Legal for farmers to use on Canola then harvest after 2 wks and sell to humans to eat. I wouldn't want to drink it but careful use is no problem. I hope. ?
  5. Again, that is their billings before expenses
  6. And don't forget the Doc has to pay all his overhead out of that. Staff, rent, utilities, insurance. That's why they have to see 50 patients a day to make a decent living. Surprised you got 1/2 hour. Usually 5-10 min.
  7. Atta boy, Cliff. Won't be able to do that for long.
  8. Sorry. Duplicate. Tried to erase
  9. Get as big a net you can afford. Good leaders. Hook cutters Long nosed pliers. Know the minimum size on your lake. Make sure everyone in the boat has eyewear on when casting for sure. No hooks in eyes. Listen to the Muskie guys on this site. Enjoy the hunt. Watch for follows. A good fish is a bonus
  10. Fished Bluffers Monday evening. 4 shakers only. Lots of bait in close on way in. Should have concentrated more shallow.
  11. Thinking after I retire to spend some time on LOTWs. Sounds like the ultimate lake. All species. Big fish. Especially muskies. Beautiful scenery. Are there ample cottages to rent/resorts? Anybody have experience up there?
  12. If you are fishing the Kawarthas, you don't really need a super heavy rod. If not needed for a 30lb + fish a heavy rod is a lot more weight to have to handle and takes some of the fun out of fighting a good fish. If you are targeting monsters on GB or the Larry, that's another story. IMHO.
  13. Used to fish Lake O a lot. Now the boat lives at the cottage. A buddy and I went out last evening out of Whitby harbour. Marked no bait. A few hooks. Caught 1 25 lb plus King in Bullfrog SD and green fly on Dypsy and braid. Moderate sea fleas. Guys we met at launch just 2 bows. They had 14 in the boat yesterday am. Seems to be a good year on the north shore. Get out there if you can.
  14. It will be fun to watch Trump and Hillary debate. I think she will shred him. She knows all the details. He doesn't know any. Except "we will make America great again"
  15. Thanks. Can't find an etching primer at CT. Rust Check paint says good for all metal and is self priming. Would that work?
  16. Messed up at the lock in Bobcageon and scratched the front black keel of the Lund at the top. Is bare rough aluminum now. Can I just get black gloss automotive paint or do I need an aluminum primer first? Better sand it smooth first as well.
  17. Anything in the Peterborough/ApsleyBuckhorn area ?
  18. Like Cliff says, a great store We buy their frozen unbaked cinnamon buns. To die for.
  19. Never thought of carp being a problem. Thought they were vegetarians If you're right and they eat eggs, that could very well be significant. My son consistently catches 15-20 lb carp on corn after baiting off the dock on Pigeon. Don't know if their numbers are up or not.
  20. I wouldn't use anything harsh on the finish. Make sure you soak them first. Then they come off easier. Like doin' dishes. ?
  21. Not related directly, but how times have changed. When caught stealing a candy, a kid would get his ear half pulled off by the cop on the beat. Threaten to tell his parents. That would be the end of it.
  22. Having a hard time with a 1.3% mortality rate. My gut says way higher especially in the heat here in Ontario waters.
  23. I'm not a really a bass guy. I'm not fond of bass tournaments either. Are large bass in trouble in non tournament fished lakes as well? Do tournament fish mortality rates play a roll?
  24. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think fishing license sales are declining over the years. But more people are keeping fish that had usually been thrown back. There is a slot for walleye and Muskie. Maybe need one for bass as well.
