suggestions on a substitute planner board reel(s)
dave524 replied to vinnimon's topic in General Discussion
FWIW, for 30 years now I've had a mast that plugs into the seat hole on the front casting platform, never used reels, use a piece of cedar 1X3" with a U notch in the both ends about 30 " long and pull them in and wrap on the stick like we did with a kite when a kid. OK, you can't adjust the length I use 100 feet of heavy weed whacker line with a big swivel like you would use on a downrigger cable at both ends, find it easier than cranking and cranking on a small diameter direct drive reel. -
Aren't they all just advancements and mods of the original beetle spin of the 60's.
-
Maybe you are trying to pull too hard and fast, came across this video, didn't appear to be as hard as my mower or rototiller.

All those species are spring spawners and now is the time, the rigours and stress of nest building, spawning and such takes a toll. Just my guess.
-
The confusion is that it is a designated fish sanctuary, C and R for bass , pike and walleye, BUT !!!! the open seasons still apply for targeting those species.
-
Pretty sure the pike are OOS too. Stick with the panfish population for now. Number 4 and 5 Mepps spinners work good once pike season opens.
-
A top water popper when bass are out of season is not a good lure choice. Good luck on posting the pic of the perch.

I'd guess a Long Eared Owl by the size and colour.

That works great for AM radio, especially at night, not so much fo FM. Often the external antenna on a transistor radio is for FM, the AM antenna is a bar wound with wire internal inside the radio, I've got better results wrapping the radio end of the antenna wire around the radio for AM reception. Used to pick up a lot of Midwest US AM stations at night from Haliburton.

If there is a 90 tiller available, I would not for 1 sec hesitiate to go with that, they are essentially the same engine, same weight, block, lower end from what I can see. Would not do it if it was an increase in weight/displacement though. Externally the only diff is the decal saying 75HP. The 75 is a detuned 90 or the 90 is a tuned up 75, take your pick

If I had to go back under warranty I would rather go to Costco, they have always been outstanding on their warranties

I'd be cutting them up for catfish bait

Pull 2 through and leave one in place, you never know when you want to add something and it's already there. Got one that tied off at the centre console going under the floor to the splash well/transom, cause you never know

I just carry all my fishing , hunting , boating, firearms and radio stuff in a separate small wallet. If you hunt you still gotta keep up the outdoors card and hunting licenses, still a couple of years from 65. The sport has sure got buried in paperwork over the last 50 years

If you are worried about numbers and the drive , lets just say a good day on Erie would be an epic day on Pigeon. That said, the 2 experiences are very different.
-
You have to remember that they enforce the hunting regs too. In the past a couple of my buddies were CO's back when I worked for the Ministry. During the controlled deer hunt in the south all manpower was focused on that, you could have got away with murder with a rod in your hand, I expect the spring tukey season is drawing manpower away from fisheries enforcement as well. I would expect a guy with a gun would take priority over a fisherman when a call came in.

bought a trailer years ago and recently had these guys put a hitch on a new vehicle, getting too old to crawl underneath they know their stuff http://hitchmantrailers.ca/catalog/

Good for a quick fix but if you got some time <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/2TpHBoDn_Fw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> recipe can be varied, improvised or changed to suit individual tastes

I'd say hunt it, unless the lease/rent agreement excluded hunting as a permitted activity. If I rented a piece of land to farm and I didn't feel secure with hunters on the property I feel I should have the right to post it no hunting as a renter, by the same token the opposite should be true.

This is one of the great mysteries of Lake Erie Walleyes If you fish out of Port Colborne, Point Abino, basically anywhere east of Port Maitland, worm harnesses and crankbaits at 1.5 to 2 mph is what they want. Move to anywhere west of Long Point and they get them on a spoon bite at 2.5 to 3 mph., the east end this result in washed spoons. My theory is seeing there are lots of bows at the west end and they need to pick up speed to get anything to eat. Rumour has it if you fish worm harnesses at the west end at 1.5 you will fill the boat with sheephead too

I've been looking too, my take on the HDS7 vs the HDS5 is that solely as a fishfinder there is no advantage, both screens are the same physical height from what I can see and the same number of pixels high, therefore would have identical definition of images. The only advantage of the HDS7 is the screen is physically wider and 640 pixels wide compared to 480, which would be better if you intend on running the gps screen along side of the fishfinder screen, solely as a fishfinder I don't see paying the substantial increase in price.

The one in your pic is available from Amish Outfitters. Swap out the trebles for single siwash, they roll up a lot tighter. http://www.amishoutfitters.com/catalog.htm sorry did read far enough , guess you know that the siwash still store better though

X2.... At 13/14 I knew what the seasons and limits were, my dad was a hunter/fisherman and would have kicked my butt if he found me poaching. Hec, at 15 we could get our hunting licences in 1965 and take a 12 gauge out hunting, unsupervised.

Fork in the tail too, I'd say it is an Atlantic.

Can you shorefish walleye on Lake Ontario

Here's another big shorecaught L.O. eye, from a somewhat surprising location. Remember this one of a few years ago http://ontariofishingcommunity.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37791
