  1. I must be the only person that uses those freezer packs with the blue gel like goop inside, couple big flat ones on the bottom of the cooler and a few smaller ones for on top of the fish. I found they last longer than ice , rinse them off and refreeze.
  2. Is this enough fine? ???? how do you attach a .pdf??? this link also gives the details http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20120622/company-fined-asian-carp-1200622/20120622?hub=TorontoNewHome
  3. Very nice gotta love Lake Erie
  4. Just be sure with the fixed mount there is enough clearance to tilt the kicker up. The closer the front of the 2 motors are aligned the better the rod off the steering rods off the front work. Good luck
  5. What about something similar to the format of the Toronto Harbour Permit for powered watercraft, and a written test
  6. I've run a 9.9 OMC 2 stroke off an identical bracket for over 20 years. Mine is of a vintage that the plate that the motor clamps to is thick plywood and I did up a new plywood at one time, I would say it is at the max with a 9.9 2 stroke but you will be fine with a 6hp. Seeing the kicker sits so much lower than the main and farther back of the transom when deployed I could not make a steering rod that attached at the front of the motors, too many bends, opting eventually for an EZ Steer....$$$ I did not find the bracket without the motor on to be an issue, also I did not trailer with the kicker on for any long distances, only the few 100 yards from my drive to my local ramp.
  7. The range may be expanding but there are far fewer of them around the Niagara Region than back in the 80's when you almost count on a possum roadkill per mile of back road. We had a joke back then, " why did the chicken cross the road?.......... to prove to the possum it could be done"
  8. Georgeous brookies why is it that except in fall, brookies from moving water seem so much brighter coloured than their rather anemic lake bound cousins ?
  9. Long ago my younger sister had a leather harness and a leash at the age when shopping, I thought it was funny until they told me it was a hand me down
  10. Chinooks can be hit or miss that time of year, but offshore Cohoes and Rainbows are pretty consistent out past 240 feet of water.
  11. Really if you are going to leave a toddler out in the yard, should not the onus be on the parents to fence the yard to keep the toddler IN?? Rather than relying on a neighbour fencing and keeping their yards safe. I guess in this day and age blame has to be put somewhere, kinda hard to do it to greiving parents.
  12. Yes epic report lived in few locales where they were common, Welland River, Long Point Bay and travelled to a few spots that had them like Bay of Quinte and particularly Stocco Lake where they were thick, but those are the most and biggest I have ever seen
  13. Don't think that is Hogweed but our native Angelica (Angelica atropurpurea), nice resident bow too.
  14. X2, you got 2 forces fighting each other, the hull wants to break free with speed and run on top of the water while the trim down all the way is forcing it to plough, leave it down when you hit the throttle or else you are going to stick the bow straight up, once you are past the point of the bow rising start trimming out, if it is anything like mine, 18 foot Sylvan with a V4 you will feel the steering ease up and not be heavy and the rpm increase slightly. If anyone is stern heavy it is me with a centre console, everything is at the back , fuel, batterys, 9.9 kicker, riggers, nothing at the front but a very large Igloo cooler and some life jackets. You will find you are on the trim a lot depending on speed and water conditions, just remember at displacement speed down is best and trim out as speed increases.
  15. Chippewa Creek and the Welland River are the same body of water. The original name was Chippewa Creek and later changed to Welland River but oldtimers still refer to it by the old name.
  16. I've caught a mess of Walleyes on yellow banana lures: Benos, Kwickfish, Canadian Wigglers, Lazy Ikes, Flatfish
  17. Myth: you have to spend hours in traffic wasting expensive gas and precious time going north to fish Smallmouth Bass and Walleye ........ the best Smallie and Walleye Lake is Lake Erie
  18. Haven't been through those towns in 40 some years, I remember one seemed to be nothing more than a string of car dealerships in those days, think it was Sundridge.
  19. Judging by the way you fellas are fishing these, I find Mann's Little George tailspinners work very well in the same situations at a much more wallet friendly price point. Sometimes add a little bit of crawler to the hook, makes it look like a disembowelled minnow http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Manns_Little_George/descpage-MLG.html
  20. Very nice bought a 18' aluminum fishing boat 30 years ago, today I would still say it was the best choice. Recognizing the neighbourhood, I am a little shocked you don't have it outfitted as a great lakes troller, being 5 minutes from a lauch ramp. Different stokes for different folks
  21. Banned??? Illegal??? Outlawed??? since when does the CSFL write the fishing regs for the province of Ontario ? All tournaments have rules and this is only one of them.
  22. Maybe and it probably has changed, but when I looked into satellite years ago, it was a hybrid system, sure the download speed was good as it relied on a satellite link and a reciever but the upload part of it was via dialup connection on a land line. Make sure of what you are getting into, it might not be all you think it is. I would think that actual 2 way communcation with a satellite would be pretty complicated and pricey.
  23. I bottom bounced inshore off Port Colborne for evening walleyes, found it best to use a quite heavy weight for the depth, so the angle of the line was pretty steep. That way raising and lowering of the rod tip could compensate for variations in depth and you could keep contact with the bottom. One eye on the fishfinder to anticipate a change.
  24. Nice pan sized specs Been a long time since the limit was more than 5 here, think when I was a teen it was something like 15 fish or 1 fish and 10 pounds, but that was long ago when the MNR was the Dept of Lands and Forests
  25. Most of the stocking done in Haliburton is with local strains, strange they would do this. http://hhoa.on.ca/hatchery/stocking
