  1. thank for the birthday greeting there neighbour, see you got to see our favourite guitarist again on another thread.
  2. Been a fan for quite some time, got to see him back in 2008 at a smallish venue at Brock University before he hit the bigtime. I'm sure I got a few videos in the " what are you listening to " thread. Check out his work with " Black Country Communion " too , best rock I've heard since the 70's
  3. another year older, 63 now but been retired 5 years

Paul.it seems to be the trend. The days of GLORY,are gone.

  4. It goes by both the Welland River and the Chippewa Creek, take your pick
  5. I need to catch this guy next time he is in Ontario
  6. Mid May .... I'd be going out of one of the south shore ports still.
  7. Man, missed the sad news of Alvin Lee's passing a few days ago, on my list of the top ten guitarists of all times and this epic performance stands the test of almost 45 years as one of the most awesome in rock history.
  8. No it isn't an M16 is an assault rifle.
  9. X2 , maybe not the best on uneven ground though.
  10. Probably Coburn lake in Haliburton. North of Haliburton Lake, down a hydro rightaway, often unmarked on maps , it is just south of Beanpole that is usually named on maps. oops edit: didn't noticed the near Apsley comment in the topic, guess i let the cat out of the bag on those 2 lakes
  11. Used to see a fair number of them on the Niagara back in the 80's , think it was Pennsylvania putting them in. Haven't seen one in years.
  12. X2 been fishing Erie since the late fifties with my Dad, things were really bleak late 60's and 70's, 80's were a decade of rebound now The smallie perch and pickerel are better than ever. Probably better than Nippissing ever was and in spite of netting too
  13. My choice, had it 40 some years now for a big knife was a Russell Survival, now a Grohman #4 without the gut hook. I use a Puma folder for field dressing the deer and a Shrade Skinner for skinning, but when it come to splitting the pelvis and sternum or quartering out comes the Russell. It works whenever the other 2 are not big enough. http://www.grohmannknives.com/pages/r4s.html
  14. I worked that 12 hour rotation for about 1/2 my working life, fortunately I was single , living alone for most of it. Look on the bright side, 1 week you get 3 days off the next you get 4 days off and the best part the rotation I had, once a month you got off at 8 am on Friday and didn't have to be back in till tues at 8 am, better than a long weekend Retired for 4 1/2 years now , good pension and benefits, that is the best, eventually it is all worth it.
  15. Quite a few lakes with bows in Haliburton, this site lists the MNR data as well as the HHOA data for the last few years http://hhoa.on.ca/hatchery/stocking
  16. That reg has been on the books since I was first licenced back in 65. In the mid 70's I taught the safe gun handling for the MNR Hunter Safety, it was explained to me as to stop the usage of WWII mil surplus stuff in southern Ontario with milsurp full metal jacket bullets as they are very prone to ricochet. Most of the battle rifles of WWII were over .270.
  17. Got a recall on my 06, some rear end suspension component was prone to rust and failure. Same time one of the back windows wanted to fall, they did both free as the window thing was a well known issue with them.
  18. The healthiest fish I eat are any I catch myself, cause as an older retired fella it is probably the most exercise and fresh air I get during the day and my state of mind is much better after a day fishing, as to the health aspects of locally caught fish , they haven't done me any harm yet that I know of.
  19. Last time I fished the Maitland would have been early spring 73/74 before opener. Back then it was open all year from Hwy 21 to the lake, great spot then but now I beleive that stretch is closed before opener, hear it is only from the train bridge to the lake open now Was a bottom bouncer back then and also recall a new Champion grader going down the Hwy every hour or so, probably to a train yard for loading, funny how that stuck in my mind The 80's a motel room in Meaford was like a second home in the fall. Edit: Another recall from the Maitland was lots of stoneflies crawling out on the snowbanks along the shore on a nice early april day, now that was a early hatch.
  20. Great read Love the old pics, I'm still running my '86 Smith Stream Master too. Bet we crossed paths more than a few times back then.
  21. I use 10 Trilene XT on both my float reels, split one of those 330 yard reel fillers packs between them. 2 110 yd spools of Maxima ultra green in 4 and 6 lb test for leader material and I'm good till steelheading ends in May. 20 bucks covers line and leader for the season
  22. I don't see a tail, it's some one's pet hamster
  23. Yep, Vachon cakes for Canuck stoners
  24. Yep when dad had the cottage in Haliburton we used a lot that size for pickeral and lakers. We knew all the culverts and bridges on creeks with a good chub population nearby. Rather than trap we found an ultralite with a tiny hook and bit of worm was best, we kept a hardware cloth box floating under the dock and stocked it up when ever we was low.
  25. Define " Buddy "
