They do travel to freshwater and in Canada too, they have been found in the Saguenay River in Quebec if you want to give them a go. Just saw a show on National Geographic about them there a few weeks ago.

The difference between marine plywood and exterior grade fir plywood is in the quality of the plys put together to make the plywood, no knots or voids, the weather resistance and glues are the same. The only application where a marine plywood is required is if the actual hull is made of plywood, like those Sea Fleas that were built from plans in Mechanics Illustrated back in the 50's, especially where there is bending of the sheet going on. For a transon the regular exterior grade fir ( not fur ) will be fine. Don't use pressure treated plywood if the hull is aluminum, electrolysis is nasty.

Cats indescriminately target protected species, not like running a dog on game species.

I had always assumed that along with everyone else. But then I got to thinking it was a creek mouth that got turned into a harbour, other creek mouths along the south shore have specific extended seasons, some are also harbours too. There is no extended season listed for Fifty Creek like there is for there is for 40 ,20 ,16 and 12 Mile Creeks, so maybe not. Winter too much time to think

Is the marina at Fifty considered part of Lake Ontario for the regs or would it be inland closing on Sept 30th for trout?

That lure is or is a copy of a South Bend " Bass O-Reno" it could date from well b4 1950, It is a floating bass lure, flish it much like a Jitterbug , steady retrieve with a few stops and jerks here and there. The reel I think would be at least late 60's even newer perhaps. Most of the early spinning stuff didn't have bearings.

Looks like a small rat, moles don't have much of a tail and really big feet and claws. Great shot.

Only 2 are Piping Plovers , the near one is something else. I got an old 35mm. slide of a mom and 2 chicks that I took back in the early 70's when I was park naturalist at Long Point Prov. Park. I don't think they were officially endangered then , but still pretty rare.

A Newfie died one day. Instead of going up, he went down. When he arrived in Hell, the Devil came up to him and said, "Hey Newfie, I hope you like the heat because it gets mighty hot down here." The Newfie said, "Sure nuf, bye. The weather in Newfoundland is so bad that it's nice to get a bit of heat." And with that, the Newfie started to stroll around, quite content with the heat. The devil decided that because this was hell, he couldn't have a happy Newfie in there. So he turned the heat up thinking that the Newfie wouldn't be able to handle it. After the heat was turned up, the devil went out looking for the Newfie. He found him standing in front of a grill barbecuing and sing Newfie songs. "Newfie!", the Devil shouted, "I have doubled the temperature down here and you seem to enjoy it even more than before?" The Newfie replied, "Yes bye. The winter was so long this year and we didn't see the sun once. My old wood stove broke and I almost froze to death. This heat feels great!" So, the Devil walked away, very upset that the Newfie is enjoying himself so much. Then the Devil had an idea. He thought that if the Newfie enjoys the heat so much, and hates the cold, that he would turn down the heat in hell so low that the Newfie would get cold and be unhappy. A few hours later, with the temperature colder than anything Newfoundland has ever seen, the devil goes out looking for the Newfie. After a brief search, he see the Newfie dancing on top of a snow drift shouting, "The Leaf's won the playoffs! The Leaf's won the playoffs!"

You get around , don't you Jimmy Barnes is someone who has flown beneath my radar unfortunately, just recently been looking into him, seems he is Australia's answer to Bruce Springstein from the tracks I've heard. Can't help but think maybe this pairing might be a project in the making, kinda like the " Black Country Communion " side project. Are you listening Kevin Shirley ? Joe and Glenn did a couple of sets together b4 the BCC gigs and Barnes and Hughes are friends. -

Great cover of an old classic, beats the crap out there today. -
So, true. Fish over 5 pounds are normal on Erie. Y'all go hungry looking for 1 to 1 1/2 pound eater size fish. Unless you're talking about the perch

Wife and I need a break , been some family related turmoil. Just need to get away for a week or two. Just her and I for a couple of weeks and the 2 cats . And lots of privacy but she needs her wifi A cottage would be ideal but a lodge will do. Any ideas on we could get away? I stayed for a few days at Talisman Resort and thought it was cool but I see it is in receivership / tax sale , we really need this , thanks

I read somewhere in the last couple of days that 20 somethings are actually earning less today than their parents did when they were that age. Not shocked at the pay level. There's a grad somewhere sayin " Do you want fries with that ?" that would gladly take the job.

The scariest thing I see daily is the 10% cream I use in my coffee. I grew up with a milk man and you put some change in the empty bottles put them on the front porch and magically he would replace them with full bottles in the early hours of the morning. Back then, 3 day old milk was suspect and any older was a forgone conclusion it would be sour without even a sniff. The cream I opened today and bought a couple of days ago says best before January 20th, just what are they doing to the stuff to make it last that long, it always was pasteurized and homogenized even in my youth -
Anyone have a Lund that leaks this bad...

I don't ever recall the name PrinceCraft until maybe the late 70's but lots of Red Springbok and blue-green Mirrocraft tinners back then. I thought somehow Springbok morphed into the Princecraft label. -

Going back to the 60's weren't they Springboks instead of Princecrafts??? Lots of them red sided cartoppers with the antelope on the side back then. -
