  1. My eyes can't make up their mind which way the vent is spinning. If I close one eye the left says clockwise and the right says counterclockwise.
  2. Honestly , just looked and checked where Cornwall is on the map, don't think it is strange. Maybe in town but I would think there are bears not far from the city limits. Reports from places like Dundas and London area are a little surprising though.
  3. Nice , the run is over down here. My dad and uncle used to talk about spearing them in the spring and grandma would put them up in canning jars , pickled I beleive. That would be 75 years ago though. Be careful , I know the spring regs on spearing and dip netting coarse fish have changed over the years. Spearing pike was a spring ritual for my generation and has passed by the wayside now Also , watch out for bears they hit up the sucker creeks pretty good for the run too.
  4. Nice Joey, methinks the Yellow bellied Flycatcher may be a Great Crested, had a bunch of warblers as always picking at the clouds of midges on my weeping willow tree blooms in the backyard, they have pretty much moved on now.
  5. The truth is at this time of year there is only so many new motors available , so if he has one in stock he will probably get that price from some one who is desparate for a new motor and doesn't want to wait for the next boatload to arrive whenever. Look at Tohatsu/ Nissan , pretty sure the Mercs at that horsepower are rebranded Tohatsu's.
  6. Nice fish Aaron. I'm surprised the water is that warm, I saw a picture of Point Abino Bay and launch with a date May 6th and the bay is full of ice still, The boom came out real late this year.
  7. Just a note, you want sphagnum moss like the florists use to keep flower arrangements fresh for a long time, not the sphagnum peat moss that is available in compressed bales at garden centres, that stuff is a fine, dark brown and powdery and quite acidic, worms don't do well in it longterm.

    Huh?

I got them like that here too, even some all brown ones. Two types of gray phase too, some have a snow white belly some are all gray even the belly. They are all the same species, think it might have something to do with a small gene pool in an urban setting .
  9. Evaporation is an effective cooling method, keep your flats in the shade, wrapped with a wet towel or such, airflow would help as well. edit: I've always used damp spaghnum moss as the best medium to keep worms for a long time.
  10. A little long and lanky for a lake resident Brookie, I found they tend to be shorter and more stocky, I'd say Splake based on the laker like profile.
  11. Nice, reminds me of my exploits when I was your age, but that was 50 years ago . 30 feet across is a majour river compared to most of the tiny stuff I fished for Specs in Niagara and Norfolk Counties. I've caught specs out of stuff you could straddle, a foot on each bank, don't be afraid to culvert hopping on feeder creeks to your river you may get a surprise.
  12. X2 Except for hitting a few Huron /Georgian Bay tribs for steelies in the fall, I haven't been on a lake outside of these 2 since probably the late eighties. I can be backing down a ramp 2 minutes from my house for great fishing. Did the many hour drive to northern destinations for a lot of years too before that, just could not see spending a good chunk of my weekend behind a wheel rather than on the water any more.
  13. These guys are hilarious and use Weber Kettle's almost exclusively. The stuff I've tried has been good. https://www.youtube.com/user/BarbecueWeb
  14. Truth be known, i was born in 1950 and for most of my life there was no fishing licence required for anyone in the province of Ontario, believe they started in 1986 with the licencing and that was at the request of the anglers of the province as a way of injecting more money to the protection and enhancement of the resource. http://pqasb.pqarchiver.com/thestar/doc/435443542.html?FMT=ABS&FMTS=ABS:FT&type=current&date=May%2007,%201986&author=John%20Power&pub=Toronto%20Star&edition=&startpage=&desc=Anglers%20welcome%20resident%20licence%20to%20help%20fisheries
  15. Argh 1 year to go and I am 65 and they do this. They screwed me on the other end too, I had to wait to 21 to drink legally and that same year they lowered the age to 18. I think 18 is a little old to get a free ride on the fishing licences, maybe they could drop that end instead, teens got more money than me or so it seems.
  16. X2, for big water nothing beats a Starcraft, they always seem to have the best interior depth, especially important when kids are on board . Also just feels safer with the gunnels up near your belt when setting riggers and trolling gear rather than near your knees or lower, especially when you get older too
  17. Yup, gotta get mine this week, $90 bucks for the Jeep Liberty. Wanna pay less taxes , retire, more deductions, income splitting is great , and the gas/tax you save going to work is monumental.
  18. In elementary school teachers printed stuff out on a Gestetner machine, man the fresh printed assignments smelled so good
  19. Often the tow package includes a lower rear end drive ratio. Strange how guys fuss over the proper prop for their boat and don't give a thought to the axle ratio of their tow vehicle, basically the same thing
  20. If I'm not mistaken that's an old Mc Collough manufactured for Sears in Canada. Could have " Ted Williams" on it too, Sears used to hype their outdoors stuff with his name.
  21. Lot of guys swear by Down East Salties too.
  22. You need to take a lesson on launching from Billy Bob, come to think of it where has he been as of late, hope he is OK
  23. Likely story
  24. Too big for a mooneye, unless they get bigger than the ones we used to get flyfishing in the Grand or that is a very small Osprey. Shad sounds good. Where are these pictures taken??? that would go a long ways to figuring it out.
  25. Thanks for that RDR, OMG Jimmy Bowskill has got a receding hairline, wasn't he like teenage prodigy like last year
