  1. thanks for the update! Its a marathon not a sprint. Keeping positive thoughts and please keep the updates coming. nick
  2. i bought my kids North Face rain jackets and they are very good. Very windproof, waterproof and Breathable. I bought them for $40 in a 2T and 4T. I use it as layering in the winter and they are great spring and fall. I think theres a north face store at vaughn mills if you wanna try. I bought mine in the US so i'm not sure if they have stock up here.
  3. Enjoy the free time while it lasts. When my kids were born I didn't have any issues giving up 75% of my fishing time. You learn that night fishing is your friend. Fish at night than come home in time for the night feeding and you are good! Take a minute and take a deep breathe when you're out, look around, listen to the sounds. Sometimes that memory gets you through the crying, diaper changing and sleepness nights. Congrats!! nick
  4. its great hearing that Sean is getting better. It does seem like a long road and Simon I can't imagine what you have been through during this experience. Your strength is a tribute to all good fathers out there! It may be a long road to recovery for Sean but at least he has an army of loved ones along the way to help him through. Stay strong and please keep us updated. Nick
  5. Man I wish we had ice down here!!!! Keep the reports coming. Nick
  6. i was reading about the quickfish2... read that it has issues with the poles. Seeing that you recommended the quickfish you don't have any issues. I like the fact that its a touch bigger with more fishable area. Have you used a clam before Rod Caster? If so, I'd love to hear you're pros/cons. Sorry I know I'm starting to thread jack now... PM is fine nick
  7. Thank you!!! makes me feel better about committing to a pop up. Tightlines!
  8. hey LucG, I was thinking of getting the same Pop up. How was the set up? did you do it by yourself or did you have a partner. I don't have a sled/ATV so I'll be dragging it out. Thank you in advance. Nick

  16. sorry for your loss. My condolences to your and your family. Losing a Parent is never easy. Let others help with your grieving. Time will help you mend. Nick
  17. I called the RCMP 1-800-731-4000. Explain to them that you had a FAC and see if they have it on file. There's a part in the application that request proof of completion so you can put "On File".
  18. Good luck. I called and check today and its going to take another month or so... oh well my fault for taking so long to renew it. Its better to call them before noon because it seems like it's impossible to speak to anyone after that. nick
  19. Have you given them a call? I had my expire almost 14 years ago and they had my details on file?!?!?! I am in the process of getting my new renewal issued so "Knock on wood" it will be in the mail soon. If you had your full FAC and not the version issued to young hunters just to buy ammo and not firearms than you should be okay. Nick
  20. AMAZING!! i feel guilty for not bringing my kids out more. I know its much easier to stick the kids infront of the TV to unwind but this is not how I was raised and its about damn time I changed that. thank you for letting me realize that i'm being selfish and not putting my kids first. Nick
  21. congrats!!! can you do my picks for my pool next week?
  22. i bought a Telescopic rod for my trip to Cuba. I ended up leaving the pieces of that rod in Cuba. The rod tip would not go back down no matter how hard I tried. I was like it was glued together with superglue after I extended the rod out. After fussing with it for about 30 minutes and breaking 2 eyelids I tossed it into the trash ( after snapping it) Even the locals didn't want it. One of the guys I was travelling with had a 4 piece medium spinning rod and reel combo and that worked like a dream. Personally i would never go with a telescopic rod again. nick
  23. i have a 4 and 2 year old. I have trouble hearing about this kind of stuff without thinking of my own boys. I notice that when there are other kids around I do keep an eye on them also. Like you said it only takes a few seconds and something very wrong can happen. Parents are not perfect, so if you see any kid do something wrong or something that can hurt them speak up and tell them. Many times parents don't notice. It's better to have a parent give you an evil eye than to see a little one hurt themselves. nick
  24. great information! thank you for posting
