  4. Than I'm ahead of the game!!! I'm pretty sure I'm past 10000 cast in my lifetime. Maybe it's 1000 cast per outing?
  5. looked like a lot of fun. I can't get over the pic with all those deer flies! nick
  6. thanks for the comments guys. Can't wait to get back out there. Damn family and responsibilities!
  7. Its been a while buddy!!! We should hook up sometime! Fishing is much easier on the bones than 9 man! shoulders still take a pounding chucking those musky lures!
  8. It was a great day to be on the water, it was a little overcast with about 20 minutes of light drizzle. This is how the lake greeted me. Image downsized - click on the image to get an original view Today was going to be the day I was hoping to land my first Musky! Soobnoob was targeting Wally's so we both were on a mission. I started with some spinner baits, followed by some swim baits and nothing. Switch to a XRap when suddenly my buddy yells "fish on!" Image downsized - click on the image to get an original view 39 inches 9.5 lbs. After a quick picture back it went. I was excited to know that those toothly critters were there and my chance WILL come. 20 minutes later I get a hit. Could this be the elusive fish? Image downsized - click on the image to get an original view Nope just a Largie.. Back it went. soobnoob switches to topwater to have some fun and after his 5th cast I hear a big splash. Image downsized - click on the image to get an original view After this one I beginning to thing what the hell, i'm never going to catch my first. a few more bass later it was time for us to go. ( wife only gave me permission for a half day adventure) Image downsized - click on the image to get an original view So tried to start the motor and it was acting up. soobnoob said "let's use the trolling motor and go back slowly. Hopefully the outboard will come to its senses" I figured why not troll for a little bit and see what happens. About 1 1/2 km from the docks I get a hit and this .... Image downsized - click on the image to get an original view They say musky's are a fish of 1000 casts. I guess I reached my 1000th! What a fish! worth the wait. Quick pic and back in the water quickly. We talked about how we caught everything Except a Wally to complete our day and guess what happened on my 1001 cast..... 9. looks like a great day for the whole family!!
  10. Great Thread!!! This father's day was bitter sweet for me. Lost my dad last year and thought I was okay until Yesterday. Went to visit him at the cemetery by myself and couldn't keep my emotions contained. I did wake up to my boys wishing me a happy father's day and the best hug a father could get. Sorry I couldn't find any fishing pics http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg571/quickme6/IMG_0671_zps53b75fb1.jpg this is a pic of him and I http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg571/quickme6/IMG_0673_zpsc3a747f7.jpg A pic of him and his Grandkids on his birthday http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg571/quickme6/IPhonepics019_zps1cf09e8f.png Proud dad with his boys on the ice http://i1244.photobucket.com/albums/gg571/quickme6/IMG_1206_zpsa3460a9c.jpg Hope everyone's father's day was a good one filled with memories and unforgettable times! nick
  11. its great to read that you taught Jack that its not "kind" for an animal to "flop". Teaching good Values goes a long way in life. You're doing a good job with that little boy. Keep it up. Nick
  12. it is very refreshing to hear feel good stories like this. Very big congrats on such as huge accomplishment. With what you've gone through the past year and not going astray is another success on its own. I look forward to a post like this one every year. Be proud of what you have done! Nick
  13. the water is pretty calm but not very deep. You'll be able to see needle fish close to shore where you can cast at. (hard to catch cuz of their Gar like mouth) Lots of net fisherman on the beach so they can help you a bit.
  14. spirals are fine but I would Never leave them on 24/7. Those bulbs get Extremely hot and at very least they burn out the housing in your fixtures. For what you are looking for 3W, 800 lumen, that does not exist. If I said I could manufacture one for you there would be no way I could make the bulb last anywhere close to the 25,000-30000 hours they are rated. Pushing an LED that much would decrease its life significantly. What you would have is a fancy florescent bulb. I do have an A19 bulb that has 300 degree coverage. ( all bulbs you see now are at most 180* with the exception of the Philips bulb but it is no where close to being as bright) This is as close as you are going to get a bulb looking like a florescent/CFL bulb. It is more affordable than Home Depot and under half the price of $35-$40 ( wow I am really pricing my bulbs too low!). I respect that I am not a sponsor so If I have gone too far with "plugging" my product. Mod's I understand if you need to take this down. I was trying my best not to make it a sales pitch. Nick
  15. remember you get what you pay for. I deal with many LED bulbs and have seen my fair share of "cheap" aka affordable LED bulbs. Many of them will not last the 30,000 hours they are rated for. I have imported enough samples to fill half my warehouse and believe me, manufacturers that want you to place a big order their CRAPmanship is pretty half a$$. If you have any questions on LED's please feel free to send me a PM. I can always help you out. Nick
  16. my condolences Dan... It hard to lose a friend but the memories that you shared will definitely live on forever.
  17. fantastic to hear!!! Seem like small steps but they are BIG leaps to recovery. Remember to also take care of yourselfs also. You're family is in my prayers! nick
  18. i know what i'm going to have at dinner time tonight! thanks! nick
  19. LOL... i would have but i finished that bottle already . I'm going back to DR in August so I'm sure I'll be coming home with more
  20. interesting.... I guess not everyone like sweet rum. Legendario does make a nice 7 year old rum that i've bought. I think its called dorando.. I'd be more than happy to take those 2 bottles off your hand. Nick
  21. You're a Hero!!! Unless you're faced with a situation like that you don't know how you would react. Some people freeze but others react and you reacted. I hope there was a happy ending to this.
  22. Its a hard decision. If he is not trained to assist in the situation than he may be adding to the situation. He was good enough to stop and offer a helping hand which is more than many people would do. Would your friend want to see his friends sister minutes from her passing? That may not be an image he would like lingering for the rest of his life. Not many people can deal with a death of a human... My condolances to the family and friends in the accident. Nick
  23. wow no one mentioned Legendario? Legendario elixir de cuba is one of the best sipping rums in my option. Very hard to find in Ontario but you may be able to find it outside of the province ( Damn LCBO) If you have any friends that may be going to Cuba its a must have. About $11 for a bottle. Give it a "shot" if you get a chance. nick
