  1. I replaced a friends mirrors a few months ago, and need to replace my passenger side before boat towing season...I found the mirrors on ebay, in both cases they were cheaper than buying elsewhere, albeit used with a few blemishes, but I've found ebay pictures to be a more honest description that wreckers in the past
  2. the shadow itself doesn't looked edited...I'm pretty sure he's holding up one of those big fish pillows, and they shopped a pike to fit over top
  3. totally agree, I could only really see the gear junkies trying this out....it said it takes 35 seconds to finish the weld too, I'm not that patient, only takes 5 seconds to tie my own knots imo they went about this wrong, they should've designed it to work with heavy lines and targeted the in/offshore guys running heavy shock leaders, musky guys tying heavy leaders with fluoro, that type of thing
  4. I'll give them credit for a unique concept lol I could see this having a legitimate use, if it was capable of welding heavy mono, 50-200 lb mono/fluoro leaders for salt/big fish applications, assuming claims about the weld strength are actually true....could also be handy if you're a charter captain, especially the party boat style charters....the .014 line diameter restriction is the huge Achilles heel if you get over the acquisition cost, each cartridge only produces 12 welds, $12/3 pack of cartridges...so we're at 33 cents per weld, not considering shipping, taxes, duty, fx rate...conservatively bump that up to almost 2 quarters every time you switch lures/retie throughout the day...don't see them busting into the recreational market, maybe the tourney scene and of course they're only accepting orders in the US....any members down south going to take them up on this offer? It would be cool to play with a weld first hand, but sure ain't paying for it If you would like, send us samples of the lines you use and we will weld them and return them to you for your inspection. If you want to do that, send them to Customer Service, Tauten, Inc., 100 Cummings Center Suite 215F, Beverly, MA 01915. Be sure to include the line specs - Brand, weight, type, etc.
  5. I moved to BC for the Olympics, and knew it would be a lifetime move before I left, upon arrival I knew I made the right decision for me Certainly fly fishing/spey fishing is very popular out here, but basically every form of fishing is popular....you'll see guys swinging flies, chucking hardware and floating roe all in the same day....the rivers are much stronger, wade with extreme caution, wear an inflatable and most times you'll never be over knee deep water....relatively same principles as ON, just upsized gear, heavier rods, line and reels...no noodle rods, no 3lb leaders for steelhead, think 20lb mainlines, 15lb leaders, 30gr floats...if you're not comfortable with a centrepin, you'll do just fine with a baitcaster The BC fishing mapbook is worth buying, will help with the common spots for bar fishing and access points on a lot of rivers...but the vedder, stave, capilano, squamish/cheakamus/mamquam are all popular with easy access and provide good fishing when the timing is right, and always resident trout/cutties/whitefish around Definitely need to give sturgeon a try while you're here, it's an amazing fishery with some strong fish Whis and Baker are awesome, but also lots of smaller ski towns with wicked terrain and 99% less crowds and commercialism If you're interested in hunting, I could go on about that too I live north in PG, but still make the rounds around all the rivers in the lower mainland, feel free to PM anytime
  6. You won't miss this, because you'll be living it daily in the lower wasteland Congestion in Toronto and the complete lack of a proper transit system the people of the GTA
  7. if you're using a mainline stronger than the leader, the wire will actually snap, but not to be confused with poor knot strength
  8. huge fan of knot 2 kinky...about 4 years now I think I've been using, I stocked up when I was down south before it hit shelves up here...the knots look like crap, but they hold, at first I put a dab of glue on them, but I stopped after I gained trust the 6lb stuff is awesome, use it almost exclusively for jigging for walleye when I know it's 50/50 chance of hooking a pike...I tried a few knots and they all work, but I've settled on a clinch knot with only 2 or 3 wraps as the simplest and quickest for me.....I only tie wire to mainline line with braid using an improved Albright, the wire will cut through mono regardless of what line splice you use
  9. Very sad story, cold water is dangerous, fast water is dangerous, put the two together and things get ugly quickly....21 year old drowned on the Vedder river last week too
  10. I definitely miss having an easy access side plate to the vbs brakes, but all the other improvements are great, much nicer to palm in the hand and work baits
  11. even the best trained dogs are still animals, and huskys are more wild in nature than most dogs I'd say, not the first time I've heard of a husky snapping (sad stories in Calgary and somewhere in Quebec got national spotlight a few years ago) you have mentioned before your dog has scrapped with coyotes and wolves right?...I'd keep a close eye on the dog and keep him quarantined until he can see a vet, run some blood work for distemper/whatever else, just to be safe
  12. dog has all of his vaccines...distemper/parvo? possible the cat was already injured somehow and triggered the attack?
  13. I have mine setup just like Bondar, works great....make sure you use the right size mount, or you may get some slippage, but otherwise I've been very happy
  14. lifeproof also has a floater lifejacket case, best $25 I've spent on phone accessories
  15. how do you like your ML triumph? it sounds like you want that deep bend from the fiberglass rods you're used to, but just with more sensitivity...imo I'd look for a light power, fast action rod...st Croix has some, and I've been impressed with my rapala F2, it's a 7'2" light power with fast action, price is about 120 (been a couple years since I bought one though), plenty sensitive, and a 3lb walleye will put a good bend in the rod, I love jigging walleyes with it, you feel every headshake I find on fly ins when the catch rate is awesome, I lose interest in boating maximum numbers of fish and I would dare say 50+ walleyes gets boring, so I like to downsize and have fun fighting the fish, a L or UL fits that niche for me nicely
  16. legislated common sense...sad, but necessary it seems I pulled out a little mazda b2000 that had one tire stuck in a massive hole over Christmas break, just spinning trying to get out, somebody had drilled 6 holes together to make one very large hole...wind blowing snow around and that hole is barely noticeable within 20 mins I've witnessed 4 of my friends go through old holes over the years, only one went fully through, hit bottom and bounced straight up, others were knee or balls deep...a good reminded to keep spikes around your neck all season on the ice I don't mark every single hole I drill, but I mark the holes on busy lakes in popular spots....a roll of flagging tape will last a season, and branches are free
  17. x2 get an coat or jacket, blanket...something with her master's scent on it
  18. They will direct you to order from their website, and you will be billed your home tax rate when you enter your address I shop a lot of WSS, in store they are like any other big box store...online is generally good, but have had some slow processing frustration before, and their online inventory is not always accurate
  19. that's old info, it changed a few year ago, it's bracketed every 5L now starting at 15
  20. I'm a big fan of the crappy tire mastercard, get points at marks work wearhouse too....between my personal and work truck I rack up minimum 35 up to 50 a month on the card if you price match something, you get an extra 10% in points on the lower price, and you can price match a lot of things there, especially in the fishing aisle
  21. I have a 62st, it's good for what I use it for but I never found any garmin product to be all that user intuitive, my 62st pisses me off a lot....and especially for lake maps would want a larger screen, so maybe I just need to get familiar with other garmin handhelds, I know they have some touch screen models I have navionics hike and bike app on my phone as well, I find both apps to be pretty good for a casual gps user the lifeproof floater jacket also helps insulate the phone I think, can't say I've actually timed the battery life but I feel it last a bit longer
  22. I use navionics on my iphone, in a lifeproof case with a floater jacket, and I have an external battery that can charge it up 5 or 6 times, gets me through a weekend of camping using my phone for lake maps with lots of power still left
  23. It's always worse coming to Canada...I feel your pain, have some fun stories myself....at least you're laughing about it now, and not walking funny!
  24. lol hopefully this time the mods delete more than just your post
  25. Generally no with any quality scope.....but you can notice a difference in poi with different shooting positions, it's always good for new shooters to practice shooting field positions after sighting in from a bench
